i can´t do it. "egen ... std() may not be combined with by"

Can you use "help egen" for confirmation of what kind of function you can use with "egen" command? Please do that. To my knowledge, "egen" can not do with the std() function. You need to use the basic variance formula: sigma^2 = E(x^2) - [E(x)]^2 to find the standard deviation. Please use "help egen" command to learn more. Thank you so much for watching our videos.
