Yo dude, been watching your channel for a while. Appreciate the earnest delivery in your videos. My fav channel for AI related stuff. Got Open Assistant because of you. Tokens are lacking, looking for better options always, but thanks anyways for another series of videos I'm always interested in watching.

Ive used Daz before and it was impressive but I had issues with their hair system. This looks insanely promising and could be a game changer. It may even influence Unreal to add something like this to their metahumans.
I've used Daz3d in the past it's more than just an asset shop, it's a full featured 3d software that lets you set up characters in scenes with lighting and rendering, the asset marketplace is where you can get the characters environments and clothing/hair to build out your scene. It's awesome that they are bringing us this feature, can't wait to see what it can do for real.
I prefer Poser, but I've used it, too. The basic DAZ software has always been free. They make their money with the marketplace. If they bring in AI character customization, they will completely kill their asset shop.
In terms of human character creation, i suspect it will be as many have mentioned, just randomized sliders. Being able to adjust those sliders just by talking to it is cool though, and fast clothing generation that works with the rig is nifty. We'll have to see how it does on other non human creations.
I have a great deal of familiarity with Daz3D. What they showed in the demo is mostly preexisting technology they already have combined into an easy to use AI based user interface. They have focus for years on the idea that instead of creating new models for each project, you used specialize base models that you morph and transform into new characters. They have bought out a lot of smaller companies to add new features to their software. If you think the human to alien transformation is impressive, they also have tech to lip-sync audio dialog to a 3D character for animation.
I think companies know Midjourney is close to releasing their text to 3D soon so are trying to get ahead of them? The MJ boss said this year that it's looking "very good" so I'm guessing it's going to be high quality like their v5 text to image model.
Not really Text to 3D. It's using pre-made assets and choosing the appropiate ones to assign based on your prompt. It is not creating these 3D models from scratch.
Daz 3d has always been a great source for amazing quality characters. Tafi seems to be a sub project that that had been using to export certain characters to game engines, maybe just unity, I guess they are using the name for the ai now too. But really excited to see what this becomes. They have a massive catalog of characters assets and objects like armors to work from
Yeah, think it’s a stretch to call it ai generated. Their whole thing is to morph a base mesh into different characters. Now they just need to link the sliders to text. And the outfits are definitely pulled from their vast library. Still cool with the morphing of the alien, but I’m pretty sure it can only be done with aliens already in their library. But let’s see. They could surprise us, like Photoshop did.
Yeah, the alien with the tongue is from the store. I have seen it before. Not as impressive as a real AI, but this should make the process way faster for the people who use it.
Incredible! I recently found a way to successfully import a DAZ model into Blender with the Blender Bridge 😮 I had a lot of problems as the "DAZ to Blender Bridge" couldn't import the model to Blender 2.92 because the "Hair" in Daz had a parent problem, but I solved it (I fixed it by clearing the parent and putting the parent back to the main armature) and now I have a Lara Croft model that looks more realistic than the "Lara Croft: Shadow of the Tomb Raider" AAA game inside Blender with Head Morphs and Body Morphs 😮. Now I can put facial animation that are generated from Audio2Face for free with a script, I Imported the JSON with the Blendshapes, I wait 10 seconds... and IT WORKED!! 😀😀😀 Lara can talks happy, angry, or sad with this free software 😃 and I can change the emotion animation in any moment deleting the imported animation with one button, and importing other JSON file that is about 5 seconds of audio and are less about 800 Kb (kilobytes) in seconds 😄 That means I could import the Tafi models too! and If these models will have Head Morphs we could combine with the same JSON files that we made before from Audio2Face 🤯🤯
Hey Matt, great info as usual. I use to play around with Daz 3D back in the day, and at that time it was THE software to use when creating human assets. It had issues and was far from perfect but it was all we had. I'm happy to see them come back and using AI. I'm also happy to see that Metahumans will have some competition so maybe they'll add more clothing and hair styles and posing in order to keep up. I use Metahumans all the time and have recreated family members (including myself) but it is too limiting. Now we're going to have more fun.
I have been saying this was the way for AI 3d for a while(parameter sliders). Can't wait for Vroid Studio or UE5 to release their version, if not already out. P.s.: if Daz 3d 'artist' get to claim copyright and such over this I don't see the big fuss with AI art. They both aren't the typical manual way of creating work and to many people would seem like a 'lazy' way.
Daz is an old hand in the 3D space and still a great resource for previs or hobby rendering. I really underestimated just how ambitious this new service was going to be, though. Like you said, if they can actually deliver on those promises this will be game changing.
Super familiar with Daz and even others like Daz. Let's be honest, text to 3D is very hard and costly. The "dialed" approached is most likely going to be the approach for a while as it's the cleanest results a user can get.
12:40 That video is actually from another place. I've seen those SAME characters on a Replica Studios demo using Unreal Engine and AI for making smart NPSs.
Don't think it's Ai, its more probable that it is just the same thing that DAZ and Character creator have been doing for years, good topological (Handcrafted) base topology, blendshapes, autofit accessories and clothes. All they would need AI for is to pick the blendshapes based on user prompt and search for tags or descriptions in their 3d database.
I've had a lot of experience with Daz3D some ten years ago, they are absolutely legit and this is a perfect move now on their part. Thanks Matt for the regular and valuable content. These news feel like a dream come true for me.
The alien is no doubt an existing asset using the genesis 8.1 model topology that their humans also use, so its not actually that much of a stretch. You just won't have a wide variety.
I'm very excited about this new jump from Daz3D I've worked with Daz3D for 20 years now I love the community it's a very welcoming environment. You did an Awesome video here about Daz3D and it's new AI.
I should also add I've used Daz before. There are so many options it takes hours, sometimes days to create a new character. Think character creator in an RPG but with hundreds of optional that you can customize. And yes, you can make a character look like an alien with sliders. Suffice to say bringing this whole process down to minutes or seconds is so mind-blowing it doesn't seem real. Might as well be magic. Very much looking forward to seeing what they develop. I honestly believe the way things are going there will eventually be AI capable of bringing a 2D render to life in 3D. Imagine a bridge from Midjourney or Stable Diffusion to 3D. Instead of game-changer thatgame over. Asset development would never be the same.
looks like instead of moving the age slider you write to move the age slider.... feels like just using sliders in an more time consuming way.... The alien thing is made with blendshapes. You have the same topology for both heads and do transistion between them. So in the end just sliders hidden behind text prompts ;P
I think this is great! I’ve been waiting for an AI 3D character creator solution for a long time. I hope there’s a feature to use an image of a character also to generate a character that looks like it.
I don't use it myself but I'm pretty sure Daz 3ds main product, Daz Studio is loaded with a bunch of base models that you can just modify with sliders. It looks like what it does is just comes up with a set of slider settings from a natural language description so I don't really think you could say this is trained on a bunch of 3D artists work.
I am not sure how much creative generation is occurring here. It looks as though its morphing between existing assets from the Daz Store. They obviously have a lot of content to select between. It would be interesting to check the variety and how much variation away from their own asset base.
would be cool to implement as a character creator in an actual game like skyrim or eldin ring to make your custom character. without spending hours of time trying to make shrek.
qyute cool, tho juge judging from the vid they got looks like it might be bit exaggerated as "generator" looks like they just linked a character creator to ai and let it control the sliders.

taffi seems fisshy. in my opinion they just have caracter sliders and a big database that is controlled by the text model in my opinion it is not generateing the textures and 3d assets / rigs
what da phuck! that generation was just next level! i dont think its version 1, i think they have tested v1-v5 inside their company only and then release this version!
Me: Make me a middle aged Asian guy. Tafi: "Ok." *POOF* Suddenly I've turned into a middle aged Asian guy. This AI thing is really getting out of hand.
I'm pretty sure Daz 3d isn't a serious marketplace for 3d assets. I've only seen them once, and was under the impresión they sell exotic models for horno uses to make fantasy compositions. So I assume tha "custom ai" part of this will be things like boob size and el ears
Daz has a serious marketplace, the horno things came from the times people switched over from Poser and imported assets from Renderotica. Same thing nowadays with any AI image/video generators, people will always use it for art, p0rn, or both. Back then the the Daz marketplace formed around creators using sculping tools to create new base characters, some free, most paid, Daz got it's share from the sales and people could get them, fully rigged, form any pose or even get predefined poses, combined with any hair, clothes, accessories, any kind of item available as asset from most common 3d formats. You could get really creative, combine in any landscape, more items, lighting, enless possibilities and the creative process was: you place everything yourself, compose it yourself, light setup, and then do rendered pictures out of it. All without AI but simple as never before, that was their thing over the last years. Anyone could create 3D worlds and render pictures out of it, anyone at home, no need to know Blender/Unreal/Autodesk etc. The forum has a helpful community and there are contests for monthly best rendered pictures etc. Btw. the sliders to adjust a character you see around 14:04 were there too, thats how you customized it manually, the results were already possible before, there were also tools for random character creation. The AI part now just understands the text prompts, adjusts the sliders accordingly and you get the result. The only news here is that there is finally native Unreal export, hope it's fully rigged but UE5.3 might fix that anyway by now.
They can do this, but can't add proper IK rigging for reasons? The IK they currently have seems more like a joke implementation and only psychopaths use it. Imagine them actually implementing a good IK system, it would elevate Daz3D from a 5/10 to at least a 8/10 and would only improve the creation of everything. I've yet to see a good daz3d animation in the 10+ years I've used it and starting to think it's impossible.

Stop lecturing us about ethics. Depicting humans is not an intellectual property of anybody.
It takes only a click or two to do the same manually - which gives greater flexibility as well. This is a gimmick by Tafi (company that owns Daz3D) - experts in marketing 😅
Yeah man if the alien transform thing is real this is gonna be nuts. I mean it's not too far off from Stable Diffusion but with HQ 3d assets. I mean damn that's gonna revolutionize the whole games industry
Why generate a 3D character when you can make it with your own skills? Honestly? Who would use AI to sculpt a wooden duck while all the fun of sculpting a wooden duck is in the fact of doing it?
I can see it for making generic NPC models for an open world RPG, for example. That cuts down the time needed for large projects so you can focus on the models that actually matter.
@@Pyoron true, tho I maintain , the fun of sculpting a wooden duck is into every chisel draw. The duck itself have value because it's made with love and determination and not laziness and an attempt to engage into mass production of it. A plastic duck is worthless. A wooden duck, even free, is very valuable.
@@SaintMatthieuSimard I don't disagree with you, but for productivity's sake, game devs might use that for cutting corners. I would appreciate a game much more if everything was done by people though.
Honestly this so called "revolutionary" new text to 3d creator is a waste of time...i have also used Daz3d and also Poser extensively in the past. All these "creations".can be done easily with Midjourney and also Stable diffusion with unsurpassed realism that this Tafi does not even come close to...this is clearly a marketing gimmick of Daz in an attempt to promote sales and revenue. Nice try....close but no cigar.
You're aware that this is not about creating great looking 2D pics ? They create 3D character models training their "engine" with existing 3D models from their shop. And you can use these as morphs and textures for their Genesis figures.
There are number of auto uv algorithms (Substance Painter, 3dCoat, blender smart uv project, Rizom Uv), there is no real need for it since when you texture in Substance Painter it does not matter what your uvs are as you use procedural generators and projections so I don't think anyone will in near future develop AI for UVs. Uvs were more important when Photoshop was being used for textures that was 2000s. We moved on.
