Possibly the most underrated ESC anthem ever.

This is actually a very very good vocal performance.

A hymn! The Greek language in this song make it so powerful on its meaning! I really miss that kind of songs in Eurovision.

He's absolutely mesmerising! I remember that ESC night, that song, that powerful beautiful voice and that overall beautiful man... 😍

I had voted for Cyprus back in 1998, when our country took part for the 1st time on the final. From 1998 the televoting started. Israel and Croatia were very good too, but this song was some special for me.

I first got to know Mihalis Hatzigiannis in 2006, from his very good songs I heard on Greek radio stations, and I had no idea it's the same guy. I did watch and vaguely remember Eurosong 1998, but I didn't particularly remember this song or singer. Can't believe he wrote such a powerful song when he was 19. He was born the same year as me. It seems that he has always been a very good musician.

I remember this song being one of my favorites that year. All in all 1998 is one of my favourite Eurovision years, so many good songs that I still listen to 23 years later.

This will be my anthem when this COVID-19 pandemic passes and everything restores.

Unashamedly epic: grand lyrics, lots of brass and strings, an anthemic choir in the back, all well captured by sweeping camera shots. Well done!

This is the best male perfomance ever in Eurovision and should‘ve been at least in the Top-5, it was a great orchesta farewell, the arragenments were simply impecable

Underrated 11th position. Top 5 was fair, but he deserved the 6th or 7th position. At least he did a big career that the most of his competitors would be jealous.

Lovely song, lovely voice. Cyprus was on fire in the 90s. So much better than all the Fuego copycats. But I have seen about a gazillion ways to spell this singer's name, Michael Hajiani/Hadjyannis, Mihalis Hatzigiannis, Mixalis Xatzigiannis... what's with that? is it so complicated to translate from the greek script? O.o

fantastic singer who would go on to release countless best selling albums in greece and even the balkans. huge star still today. For the bbc to be such a huge organisation thought this staging in 1998 was amateur at best,felt like the vocals and sound where not adequately balanced. singers sounded drowned out by orchestra,which was not that good to be honest. 1991 in rome and 1998 birmingham you just expect better from RAI and BBC

Another great entry from Cyprus. Μπράβο, Κύπρος! 🇨🇾🇨🇾🇨🇾 I love it when they perform in Greek. The Eurovision just isn't the same these days without hearing the Greek language from Cyprus and Greece, as well as all the other languages of the participating countries. The free language rule must be abolished! It would be fantastic for Cyprus to get their first ever Eurovision victory with a strong ethnic song performed entirely in Greek, and then they get to host their first ever Eurovision. That would be very interesting.
