👋 Genesis Coupe 2.0t- Forge BOV vs Stock BOV 🏎.
Bought the Forge Motorsports Blow Off Valve from Genracer.com. This video shows the difference in sound. The Forge BOV sounds way better than the stock recirculation valve. It is a much cleaner and crisp sound. It holds the boost better and I actually feel the turbo being more responsive! This is with the K&N intake

People should know you can get recirculating valves that can chirp just as loud and you don't have to mess with all the poor idling issues that come with an atmosphere valve and the more lag they create. Just get metal inter cooler piping or a metal valve instead of a plastic one.

that sounds like mine. all I did in my 2013 was remove the recirculation tube and capped the one end going back into the intake. I got the same sound

May i ask what spring are you using on your forge bov? Im definitely interested in getting one. Also i read you have an automatic and saw you had two oil catch cans, do you have a video of where you installed the hoses for the turbo side?

In person, after a while the stock sound got annoying. It's just the echo you hear. The new one had a much crisper sound, and held boost better

Hopefully you can see this comment! But before I want to invest into the forge bov, I wanted to try to install a bov backing plate that goes right on the OEM valve. It just blocks off the recirculating hole to give you the whooshing sound from the OEM part, but would you have any idea if that can cause damage in the long run? Its a cheaper process to give you the cool turbo sound effect however im not sure if it causes problems in the long run. Just something I thought of before spending big bucks for the forge valve. Also! It was cool to learn that the wooshing sound from the OEM part comes from the sound being echoed in the air intake. Which makes sense why when I switched back to my OEM air box from the k&n filter the sound just went away. Cali. smog check problems lol

Do not do that! That product is designed to have the bov relocated to the charge pipe. You'll destroy the turbo if you install that alone. The forge bov is the most cost effective option and sounds/works great! An intake makes a lot oof the turbo sounds audible. Both products are well worth it ;)

Like most new turbos it works on ball bearings so it fine if the air goes back out through the air intake to get that pshtutu I’ve had it over a year and no problems

here again with another question and I was hoping you can help me out, I just bought the forge bov for my 2013 gen 2.0t, now I tried to install it but the hose was way to tight and a bit short..any suggestions on how to make it fit? and If i need to replace the hose what should I use? thanks again :)

+Brian B (MuscleBowl) I used a little grease on the metal valve. It was a pain to get on. It will take a little time to get it all the way on, and the stock metal clamp will hold the hose on tight too.

2013 owners Watch out!!! Many 2013 owners with the forge bov have experienced cracking or punctures in the intake manifold. I experienced a loud bang and found a hole on my manifold. Very common. I don’t know sh*t I’m guessing it’s due to it not relieving enough pressure. I used the recommended lowest spring setting.

Yeah a lot of 2013 owners have that issue regardless of mods. They went from an aluminum intake manifold to plastic. Best option is to swap for a first gen manifold.

So I am confused , so you just installed a blow off valve , yet I see other videos on a 2011 gencoupe where the bov is on the other side on engine towards the front , or am I just calling it the wrong thing

+David Scott Some people put a block off plate on the stock location and do a cold side BOV. I just replaced the OEM Valve with the Forge BOV that fits in the stock location. You can buy a new cold side intercooler pipe that has a flange for a BOV.

+John Ryad Sahib The turbo seemed to react a little quicker than stock, and hold the boost a little better. Rev hang will only be fixed with a tune.

I'm new to the Genesis Coupe Club and to the Turbo scene as well. I just got mine actually, and over the past few weeks I got used to the rev hang. At first it was a pain but now I kinda don't mind. But, by tuning can you explain what that entails and what mods work best for the car?

+John Ryad Sahib A tune is a re worked ECU. It basically optimized all of the parameters of the engine. For the most part, all of the bolts ons (intake, bov, exhaust) only add a little bit more power. It is noticable, but the tune tells the engine that it can make more power. Really the only way to increase boost is by getting a tune. A manual boost controller can raise boost for a while, but ur ECU will adjust and keep it at the stock level. So a tune is your best bet. This BOV will allow you be able to hold the new boost levels.

All Genesis Coupes that come with Navigation have this screen. 2.0t Premium, 3.8 GT and 3.8 Track all have it.

You can install it with nothing else. It's designed to whee you can run vent to atmosphere or recirculation ;)

Technically a flutter isnt good. That means the valve is putting some pressure on the turbo. But some other brands have different sounds

it only works on models equipped with navigation. If you have an r spec model it wont work. I'm pretty sure there is just a page you scroll to and it should bring it up.

are these genesis coupes really reliable? i live in New jersey its alot of pot holes. I plan to get one like 2015 or 16 2.0t automatic. but not sure if I should get it from a official Hyundai dealer or private dealer or private seller.

Does the '14 usually have higher stock boost? I have a 2014 gen coupe 2.0t and my boost gauges reads 15 psi.

I thought the 13 and 14 turbo gens put out about 20psi. What are you using to read the boost? The OEM boost gauge, an aftermarket one, or torque app?

jake jones stock boost gauge on 13+ only shows up to 15psi but it actually goes to 18.5 psi.

Yup its auto. The paddle shifters keep it fun. I've done pulls with my freind who has full bolt ons and is a manual, we are neck and neck. My car starts to pulls ahead when he shifts, but then he starts to pull on me after the shift. So they are pretty even.

GLS PERFORMANCE reliability is pretty good. I've never had any isues. I get around 27-29mpg on the highway and around 17-19 in the city

That's the Torque App with a Bluetooth OBDII adapter. You can find the Bluetooth adapters on amazon for $8 and the torque app is $5 for the full version or free for the light version

If there is no boost pressure in the hose, there isn't anything to open the valve.

It looks like it sits below the pipes so im guessing it would be ok Lastly, I see that the turboxs sml hybrid bov is around the same price. Would you recc forged over that one? Thank you so much.

+TheJinroKing Changing out IC pipes won't make a difference since the bov is mounted to the turbo. If you have a manual, I would go for the TurboXS Hybrid because a lot of the air will still go back into the turbo to keep it spinning between shifts rather than dump it all out. With an auto, it doesn't matter.

+Honda4RideRed ohh I see. I was about to order the K&N short ram intake from autozone online but it doesn't let me since I live in California. It's not emission legal here! Damn. I was looking at the aem cold air intake but installing it looks like a pain in the ass

no. You still hear the whistle. The only audible difference is the air release

12.9 psi? Stock boost? A hyundai tech told me that they spike at 11psi

The highest I have seen is 14.1. but it holds between 12-13 for the most part. The stock tune is set to max at 14psi

How did you paint the rs turbo red??

+Jamaal Haniff I took a lot of time taping up the letters and stripes. Then primer/paint/cleared everything. Used a knife to help peal the tape off so nothing would peel. Then used the knife and a tooth pick to clean all the edges and scrape off any over spray.
