@@Dragon-hu7pt they are just pre fabbed pipes that pass straight through. They replace catalytic converters

I have a 2015 genesis coupe 3.8 Ultimate with ark test pipes but the problem I have with them is that at 3-4K rpms I get a metallic rattling/buzzing noise. Can I get any help or answers as to why it does that? I’ve seen other people with just test pipes on their genesis and they don’t have the problem I have. Any help is appreciated

brandonsanchez22 hey man, just wanted to help you out and say that you should check your test pipes, I removed mine to check if they were truly flat and they weren’t. That’s why it was making the rattling noise.

Doesn’t sound raspy with the muffler delete. How’d you take care of that? I’ve seen other muffler deletes that end up being super raspy at 4K+ rpms.

put your car in neutral (while rolling) and rev to 4k+ rpms. and rarely.

The thing is, the OEM exhaust on the bk2 gencoupes is actually excellent. The cats on the car are high-flow cats and you actually lose power if you remove the stock primary cats. Replacing the secondary cats with test pipes will net you 0 - 5 HP. If you like the sound of the test pipes then go for it but don't think you're making any more power. IMO just an aftermarket muffler (I like magnaflow) is the way to go. A little more grumble with no drone at highway speeds.

When I was putting on my cat back it was welded wrong so I had to drive around with no exauset because I had to break the stock to get it off. Let's just say its way too loud for California

Thats a stock exhaust right? Only stock muffler and cat delete, right? And u should try a valved muffler with the test pipes to see if it removes all of the drone on highways

I have a 2010 gen coupe 3.8 M/T I have a test pipe down pipe to single exit and soon headers just gotta install them and it's already pretty loud and the drone is there

is their more noticeable drone with test pipes, i have a muffler delete with a single exit on my 3.8 bk1 too and the drone is pretty loud at 2k rpm

@@doomspits yes there is but again I'm gutted like I have racing seats and no back seats so I'm sure that adds to the drone. But if I remember right yeah you'll have more noticable drone

I was told that test pipes and muffler delete aren't too bad, however you install headers and it's crazy loud to loud. I had a buddy install headers with his muffler delete and mid pipes it was way too much you couldn't enjoy the drive, it was fine before the headers and then you ave to watch for police etc because it is easily ticketable noise level.

Has it affected your car negatively in any way? I want to do a muffler delete on my genny but I’m worried it’ll throw codes and fuck my system up

Muffler delete shouldn’t throw any codes. O2 sensors are next to the primary cats. Test pipes won’t throw any codes. I currently have test pipes install but I’m putting the secondary cats back since I’m getting the ISR race exhaust

Test pipes make less torque under 4.400rpms. Only is for sound, in Bk1 no gains in Hp or torque. You need a good remap, caí, headers and in the end, test pipes.

Love the sound with or without the testpipes man. I got a 06 sonata with the lambda 3.3 v6. Basically the predecessor to this engine, just front wheel drive instead and a bit less power. I've had it running open headers for a few weeks for fun. Now I've got it straight piped from the downpipe back with the 3rd cat delete. With this gen sonatas you can swap in the 3.8 v6 from the Kia Sedona or Hyundai azera. Actually a fun little sedan. Just almost no aftermarket support. Definitely want to get a gen coupe next. Also with stinger and genesis with the 3.3tt that's around now I've been wondering if any internals from those would work to swap over to build the older lambda engines for boosting
