The "buzz" surrounding this Sirene release back in 2006 was that the source for this boot was taken from the actual reels from WXRT FM - the radio station that broadcasted this now infamous show on October 13, 1978. However, as far as we know, those tape reels have never surfaced and it is believed that the source for this unofficial release is the wonderful sounding SAB 05 v.2.

Mark & Rick were there. We drove from Joliet with no ticket & got lucky to score 2 tickets for this ass kicking show. No thanks to the bouncers for smashing our vial of oil....

I was at this show. It was the second time around in Chicago for this "And Then There Were 3" tour. They also played U of IL in Champaign too. The first time in Chicago, Feb 1978, they played the Chicago Stadium, which was a big barn and not built at all for acoustics. Genesis had previously played the storied and awesome acoustics Auditorium Theater the last 3 tours ( 74 Lamb, 76, 77). But that is like a 5,000 seater, so this time around, they upgraded to the Stadium and 15,000 seats. The sound was horrible and Genesis regretted it so that they came back again 8 months later and played the Uptown, which is an old movie palace in Chicago's run down Uptown neighborhood. Its a 6,500 seater and only second to Radio City as respects size. The place is absolutely gorgeous and still stands today, even though there hasnt been a show there (or anything) since 1983!!! It needs a $20 mil renovation. Long live the Uptown, saw Foreigner and ELO there too.
