Thanks for the walkthrough, Steve and Tom! So far, I've only really been able to observe the GV60 from the outside. The interior does look very nice, and the fact that it has the E-GMP underpinnings means that it's pretty much top of the class right out of the gate in terms of charging speeds and travel times.
I'm mostly glad there are so many diverse options appearing on the E-GMP platform. No trucks yet, but everything from premium SUVs and sleek sedans to people movers and sporty crossovers will be available under the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis umbrella by this time next year.
@@plugandplayEV I think they would be the perfect solution for a compact truck, configured with an 80 to 100 kWh pack, but we still might need to push the energy density a bit for fullsize EV trucks.
I guess the one thing visually is that there are far fewer GV60s out there compared to IONIQ 5s, so the Genesis stands out a bit more on that front. I like both cars' stylings but for very different reasons, so I think exterior design is a tie, for me. Inside, the I5's larger cabin and practicality is what wins out.
@plugandplayEV I agree but the huge difference in price would not be worth the slightly more feeling unique on the road feeling in my opinion. The only thing I would do is have my ioniq 5 in that lime colour though 😄 the open space of ioniq 5 is just magical and I'll struggle to ever go back to a car with a full built in centre console.
Absolutely! The big open space to spread out and/or store stray bags is something that's high on my priority list now. Got a taste in the Bolt EV and the I5 took it to the next level.
The GV60 Performance is awesome but has some short legs so could use more range. The Ioniq 5 N should be even more fun. I feel like all the E-GMP cars could use about 85-90kWh usable and then they’d have a really nice ability to stretch out the miles on a full charge to make it into some remote locations or contend with adverse weather.
I think it ends up a wash once you get to the performance models... roughly 180-200 miles of range at highway speeds and the EGMP charge curve gets you back on the road in 20 minutes or so, making an extra 10-20 miles negligible. Just my opinion, but if I wanted to maximize range/driving time between charges I'd probably go for something like the Lyriq or Mach-E instead.
Sweet ride. Premium car and a compelling price. Thx for the vid. I enjoyed watching. I think for me, I would choose an Ionic 6. I just like the sedan feel, but 4 sure a solid offering.
I've yet to get inside an Ioniq 6 but the spacious cabin and additional range could win me over. As long as the sedan opts for a hatch opening for practicality, I'm on board.
When I'm on the road, I see Ioniq 5 so many times😂 (I think I see the most gray and it is very cool) But I saw GV60 for the first time a few days ago, and it was prettier than 5!
Yes, I do wonder how long it will be before the IONIQ 5 is so common that the looks fade... still liking ours though, so it's all good! I have a similar feeling about the EV6, though. Don't see quite as many of them and it has that feeling of being special, as a result.
For me I couldn’t resist the luxurious upgrades of the GV60 ( Nappa Leather, aluminium fascia trim, the noise cancellation, B&O stereo and the double laminated glass all round) Also the slightly firmer ride and 12cm shorter length suited my needs for something a little more compact. The choice across the EGMP platform vehicles is great and growing all the time. The sliding rear seats and sliding centre console of the Ioniq5 remains a great feature of the ioniq5. A highlight of the GV60 is the physical controls:-buttons, switches, rockers, touch sensitive and figure gesture input methods - simply excellent ergonomics.
Im sure - if GV60 price was around 50K, people would choose it over ioniq5 any day. But gv60 is a little too pricey - 68K for performance trim - wow. Very expensive.
Yeah, they only really cross over in the mid-50K price range. The base GV60 RWD is around $53K next year and the IONIQ 5 AWD Limited will be closer to $56K, so if the performance isn't a big deal for the buyer they can get the more premium feel for Ioniq 5 money.
I'd love to upgrade, but I couldn't justify the higher car payments to my wife. Plus, I'm worried that the trade-in value for my Hi5 would be LESS than what i owe on it, even considering i had a $17k downpayment. No way i could stomach a fully financed GV60 which would double my montlhy payment on a 6yr loan. The slightly lower range of the GV60 is a turn off, so I hope technology will advance / become more afforadble and my next EV will have at least a 300mi usable highway range with plenty of performance, too. My one gripe about my Hi5 is the speed limiter of 116mph. Not that I really ever need to go that fast, but knowing it's there and hitting it occasionally, well, it just sucks.
I’m considering the same thing. I had the RAV4 Prime. Went to the Ioniq5, now considering Gv60 performance. The depreciation in the used market is making it doable. To anyone that has also done this, any regrets ridding the 5 for a 60??I want the extra power and luxury interior/seats of the 60..
Hah, that seems to happen a lot ... offer a striking color that some people love and then remove it after a year or two in production. Keep an eye on the used market, I guess?!
