My favorite pre-FOXTROT piece by the boys (Anthony Phillips and John Mayhew). "Stagnation" foreshadowed so much of what was to come it's importance in the Genesis canon cannot be discounted.

It's too bad the keyboard player couldn't get that "dropping" effect Tony used on this song. But other than that, this is a fine performance of a classic.
I noticed that too. Tony's rig was analogue back in 1970 and he just switched off the power to get that weird and classic dropping sound and switched it back on for the next passage of notes. I agree with you too, These guys are getting it right with a fine performance here.
@@GeneticsBand Many digital keyboards have pitch benders. I'm not sure if the one used here had one, but if it did, the player could have used it to simulate the effect of Tony switching off the power.

It's kind of sad to say but the reason bands like Genetics and The Musical Box are such a gift to Genesis fans is that Peter Gabriel was not that capable of reproducing their songs live.
Sicuramente la voce di Gabriel è altra cosa, ma proprio perché unica non possiamo pretendere che altri la eguaglino. Il cantante è comunque bravo e fa la sua parte.
