Jon Is this problem of weak grft union of g41with all varieties of apple or only few varieties

I have a new marketing slogan for G41 “let’s get crackin”. I lost 40 of 50 trees in a single row - the deer actually snapped a few! For comparison, I have trees on M7 that had a large ash tree fall on them. I pruned the damage then dug them out of the mud and actually picked a small crop the following year. In fact, I’m noticing a lot of issues with other Geneva root stocks as well.

Can you substantiate "a lot of issues with other Geneva root stocks as well" ?

@@ARUNKUMAR-gh3uw Of course, the other problem I’m seeing is sudden death of healthy trees for no obvious reason ( not fire blight, voles, etc.). For example, trees with normal apple loads will die seemingly overnight at random times in the season. The dead trees appear like they were hit with a flame thrower, leaves and apples will remain on the tree into winter. It’s not just a one-off phenomenon, I lost about a third of a row of macouns over 2-3 years. This phenomenon is only affecting trees on Geneva rootstocks. To be fair, I am not losing my orchard over this issue but it is concerning. Some rows on Geneva stock are fine.

No problems so far, recommended if you want a bigger, free standing tree. Peter Mitchell, are you hearing me?
