@@sufficientframeYou can’t get the gist of the price with just a currency calculator. $22 is blasphemous when you can get a $1 worth meal that has more substance than this in Japan. At 7/11 they give out full on good quality curry for $1 in Japan. The price for living in Japan is considered cheaper than the US, so all the prices are reduced in Japan’s restaurants as well, making this meal in this video damn expensive for what it is.
I think they ony had Gengar as a Halloween thing. I've see videos that show that they normally have a Pikachu, not Gengar. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong
It's like 22$ USD There was a good amount of sides and a desert with it. If there was no other sides or a dessert, I'd call it a ripoff. You got to imagine that they have to pay a pretty penny to use Pokemon as well.
I think its more for the looks and the "unique experience" if you ask me it would have been a better experience if at least you get the fell full with those prices
A reminder Japanese people are thin, eat very little and consider those meals to be too much due to the "sweetness" level for them, which is why to outsiders like us seems like a rip-off. My sister lives in Japan and explained this to me very dearly, as she is the glutton of the family ever since we were kids and I had to eat fast or not eat at all. So for her this was the most important thing.
@@dustindean4618 I think you're right 💀 I know Gengar gets Hypnosis and Dream Eater though because that's my setup 😂 edit: Gengar DOES get Confuse Ray
For some reason I started squealing in happiness when I saw the Scream Tail on the table Maybe that’s just cause scream tail is my favorite paradox pokemon
@@Monkeykilljoy nope, i don’t think so. I’m preeetty confident, now that I’ve listed them. 1. *“Gengar* cast confusion on me…” 2. “Since *Gengar* was running the cafe, …” 3. “For example, you drink *Gengar’s* brain juices…” 4. “Then I got *Gengar’s* ‘Tricky Beef Stew’” 5. “…and it was *Gengar-nished* with these cute Pika Pitas.” 6. “How many more times will I say *Gengar* in this video?” 7. “Well, I think it’s opening the *Gengar* lid…” 8. “For 3,300 yen that is some *Gengar-bage.”* 9. “What, no *Gengar-banzo* beans?”
I want people to realize that anime cafes are for the experience, not the food. They’re more worried about it being the right vibe with food looking nice rather than the food tasting amazing Edit: I want to reiterate, I don’t think it’s fair to be charging the prices they charge for the food they make since it’s known on record to not taste good and be way too small. But if people want this to change, there is an easy solution! Stop going. Which is never going to happen
@@missbeaussie that’s true! But there are so many other places to visit in Japan that definitely gives you your moneys worth and better tasting food. These places are not made for that. They’re made for a vibe. That’s like going to a baby clothing store and expecting them to make adult clothing.
@@fletcherandjunk2246 they're made for the vibe but also to make sure you spend more money than necessary. What you're doing is basically paying for the brand.
3300 yen for that tiny portion. Damn and I thought inflation was bad here in Canada. The Japanese are out of their mind. Even with the tip food is cheaper here.
High food prices are so painful. I think the price here is just for the experience of the themed restaurant though. Other videos I’ve watched of normal Japanese restaurant have people getting amazing dinners with great portion sizes for less than $15. Sometimes less than $10!! I’m jealous of those types of Japanese restaurants, but not the themed places or tourist traps lol
You have to keep in mind this is a theme cafe. A place that is very intentionally designed to charge high prices for cute looking food. Its less about eating and more about taking photos or the experience. Is it completely fucked in my opinion as a japanese chef? Absolutely. But is it kinda adorable? Yeah I reckon.
I used to like to yell about using Confusion while holding a card of a pokémon who can use said move, and when my family would inevitably be confused, I would say, "It's super effective!"
Went to the Pokémon Cafe in June of last year, and can confirm that you're overpaying for food. You go once for the experience and to say you did it, then never again.
