Genicular nerve radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive treatment option for controlling knee pain without undergoing surgery. Radiofrequency waves are selectively delivered to the genicular nerves surrounding the knee, which can destruct the perforating nerves and relieve the pain in the knee. No steroid is used in this procedure. Only lidocaine (numbing medicine) is injected before initiation of the ablation to control possible pain during ablation.
