Great, fun reaction! And you're English is impressive. If I tried to watch a video like this in any other language other than English, I'd be lost the whole time. I might pick up more with Spanish than other foreign languages, but...I'd still be lost.

Little historical note: that king of Mali was called Mansa Musa, and may have been the richest monarch who ever lived. To give you an idea of how wealthy he was on his pilgrimage to Mecca he handed out so much gold in the city of Ciaro that he single handedly crashed the Egyptian economy. That's just stupid rich.

Astrophysicists will tell you that the Big Bang was the beginning, not only of the universe, but of spacetime itself, so the very idea of "before the Big Bang" is meaningless. Hence the rather philosophical and confusing take at the start of the video. At least, that's what I think Wurtz was getting at.

I've watched this video and reactions to it so many times. I love your reaction. May be my favorite one. Also, my son was made off the coast of Iran when I was in the U.S. Navy. When they brought up 9/11 and you said, "Wasn't us," I immediately did a slow eye roll over to Saudi Arabia and went, "Yeah... I know."

I've never met an Iranian face-to-face that I didn't like and/or have respect for. Your government could use some work but I think you guys know that about yourselves as much as, well, some of us, know the same here. Despite our differences, I really do tend to love the Iranian people as individuals.

That was fantastic! You are educated and bright. I loved every moment of this reaction, fr. But honestly, the moment that I howled with laughter? When your eyebrows and hands went up and you said "Wasn't us." Some people need reminding... And that was perfect. 👍 Btw, subbed.

I just found your channel, and I've seen this video about 30 times through the eyes of others. The video never gets old for me, and it's really refreshing to see someone's genuine reaction having never seen it before. So many who have done "reaction videos" to this have actually cheated and watched it before hand. You can tell when someone is actually seeing it for the first time. So cool! 😊 Thanks for this reaction. Loved it!

It's really interesting to see reactions to this by people from different backgrounds. Obviously there is a LOT of stuff that is missing or gets glossed over, and which of those holes we notice depends on how much we already know about that part of history in that part of the world. But it's a really nice overview and jumping-off point. I know there were multiple times when I had never even heard of a particular empire or major event... (SE Asia/Indochina before the 19th century was basically a big BLANK in my head. That obelisk thing? How late Madagascar was settled? The Tonga expansion? And who were those mongol-type guys way before the mongols?? All pretty much new info.) Of course Persia/Iran has basically been History Central since forever. Learning even just the outline of who all conquered and re-re-reconquered it when and why and which of 50 peoples/languages/cultures were ascendant or allied at which points must be a nightmare. Scandinavian history is wayy simpler by comparison. (And yet I could add stuff like: the Hanseatic League, the Sami people(s), the Swedish Empire (kind of a big deal for a while!), Finland vs all its neighbors, Denmark-Norway's attempts to get in on the colonization racket - did you know we had our very own Caribbean slave islands? yep - and so on....)

Don't worry, that's everyone's reaction to this video. Slack jawed, brain fried, and that includes people whose first language is English. It is just sooo much information, delivered so fast, in such a comedic way that you just can't help being stunned. History has been a lot of war from every side, against every side. Nobodies ancestors are innocent. That's my big take away from this.

It's fascinating to see someone from a Middle Eastern background watch this video. I feel like the geopolitics of that region kind of got shoved aside after Columbus, and that's kind of sad because it's some of the more interesting history from the last ~200 years, at least in my opinion. I'd personally love to see the person who made this make a video about Iranian history, especially touching on the coup against Mosaddegh, the eventual overthrow of the Shah, and Khomeini's rise to power. Persian/Iranian history has fascinated me for some time now.

Americans are not taught a lot about World History in middle school and high school, because the entry-level jobs that they would get upon graduation do not require such knowledge. If a US student goes on to a college or university, only then are they taught about World History, because they will need such knowledge in their fields of study. This short video/film was made to appeal to the high school-educated American public, who do not know about world history in such great detail. .
@QueenMuser
@QueenMuser 3 года назад
And also around the world governments are cutting out in history programs too, many times even rewriting it (in the EU too). And you know why? If newer generations don't know history, they'll be more likely to repeat past mistakes in the future. And people with a huge lack of knowledge are way easier to manipulate. In these times of doom and gloom, the saying "Knowledge is power" is more important than you ever know.

@LaptopLarry330
@LaptopLarry330 3 года назад
@@Jzombi301 The people in the State of California spend more money on education than any state in the Union. California is the exception to the rule. Historically, people living in states away from the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts only had farm jobs, mining jobs, or factory jobs to look forward to for their children upon graduation from high school. Not too much has changed in this part of the nation, because the state governments will not spend the money to educate their people about world history, and STEAM (Science, Technology, English, Arts, and Mathematics) subjects that they will need for future high-technology jobs.

Sooo about your lack of knowledge of English and your brain trying to comprehend everything... So, the brain is designed to remember and focus on KEY WORDS and associate every key word with a CONCEPT. And this video is perfect because it has so many key words and focuses on them. This is why I got everything on the first try watching this video

I'm a non-english-native and understood it immediately because this video uses a lot of key words. And the brain is designed to remember key words and link a concept with each of those words Btw the same channel made "History of Japan" too. That "intermission" thing before the birth of islam actually links to History of Japan
@TMS5100

The video is deliberately silly - a lot of it is spoken like he is having a conversation with himself - asking a question, then immediately answering it. A lot of it is using silly awkward english like a 8 year old child might use. There's also a lot of pop culture style references. @4:56-5:02 the music and speech is like a cheap television infomercial. and it just goes on and on. Someone really needs to do subtitles for other languages for it, a lot of the humor and pop references might not be so easily understood by non-westerners.
