This blew my mind a little. So smart for so many reasons.
Shoutout to Tom Alibrando of IWI USA for sharing this technique. I first saw it in the Vickers x95 video.

The designer still trying to win the argument regarding 'reloading vs sidearm.'

Switching to a sidearm is faster, but it's also a massive downgrade in firepower and accuracy. You decide if the tradeoff is worthwhile.

Load 2nd and 3rd rounds as tracer.. After you've unleashed the first 27 rounds you'll see two tracers.. With one round in chamber swap mags, saving time it would take to release working parts.

A tactical reload as you discribe, is not the way to reload when in a gunfight. Start training for speedreloads, and weapon swaps. Use your gear and ammo the right way!

@@goon83 Trained all ways. The above is using your gear if you have tracer rounds. It isn't used so much and is really better used in a gunfight, ambush. 99% of mag changes are normal speed or fast for competitions. First tracer grab next mag.. Second tracer reload. It won't get any quicker. Maybe that 0.5 seconds would save a life or cost a life.

Then they invented the IOTV with molle system... So we weren't allowed to do that anymore.. had to keep em in the magazine pouches. At least my unit did, since we were the first regular army unit to test the IOTV in combat. Had to remove the empty one from the rifle, take another out of a pouch while putting the empty in the pouch you took one out of. Then pop the full magazine in the rifle. It was pretty annoying and time consuming. The IOTV with all the fancy attachments was so heavy and cumbersome too.. Had to wear them with the nut and hip flaps, shoulder guards and the neck protector. Really wish we had the OTV then.

@bp968

Since your clearly unfamiliar with firearms ill fill you in (no mocking intended, sorry if its worded that way). Anyway, a bullet isnt really dangerous outside the chamber of the firearm. Brass is soft an malleable so that the case neck will seal against the chamber to contain the massive pressures of the round going off (40-60k PSI). Outside of a chamber the neck will split and without containment the powder just burns, it doesn't explode. A friend would demonstrate this by tossing 22lr rounds into a fire pit to screw with people. That said, there is a risk of debris injuring an eye or similar even with small rounds so id advise against tossing them into a fire. Also, this only really applies to normal small caliber rounds. Throwing a 50 bmg or a tracer or incendiary round in a fire is a fairly bad idea.

This also basically eliminates the need for standard mag pouches, since you're carrying four mags on the gun which is likely more than you need, and if you carry spares in the same coupling arrangement they're not going to fit a normal pouch.
