Another quick hack/tip for stained plastic storage containers: spray a little non-stick spray in them before pouring in the sauce. Prevents stains before they start.

A tip for cleaning the oven: whatever you’re using to clean the oven, cover it with cling film and leave it overnight or for a few hours before scrubbing. Even if you use regular oven cleaner it needs time to penetrate the dirt and if it dries it’s not going to work nearly as well, so just cover it with cling film and it should be much more effective at removing the dirt.

Here's an alternative to the tooth pick hack. I keep a toothbrush in the kitchen to clean the debris that accumulates in tight places, including crevices and corners. I lightly spritz the corner or area where grime is. Give the mess a couple of minutes to get soft and mushy, then use the tooth brush to dig out the mess, pulling the grime away from the corner into an area where I can wipe it up with a sponge or paper towel. This is especially useful if your sink has tiny gaps between the counter and the edge of the sink. It's also great for cleaning the faucet. I find that gunk tends to build up where the faucet meets the sink/counter. A tooth brush has a handle long enough to g reach any mess behind the faucet without straining yourself. (I would need to be on the counter to reach behind with a tooth pick.) The tooth brush also works in the corners of cabinets like the one shown in the tooth pick demo. When you're done, you can thoroughly rinse out the tooth brush and let it air dry. The bristles stay intact for a long time, so you may only need to swap it out for a new brush every few months, depending on how often you need to clean the crevices and tight spaces. Mine sits next to the sink in my drying rack so I can easily access it when I need it.

The oven hack was a bit muddled but had mostly the right components if not quite the best technique. Sprinkle the baking soda directly on the oven surfaces and add enough drops of dish liquid to lightly scrub it all over with a wet (with just water) sponge or scrubber, rewetting as needed. There should only be a light coating with perhaps a little extra on the very worst spots. Leave it for half an hour to an hour, or up to a day if you're busy. Then when you go back to finish cleaning soak your sponge with the vinegar or use a spray bottle to scrub and wipe away the soapy soda, and wipe away anything left over with plain water as needed. As demonstrated there was just too much soap and soda and almost all the dissolving power of the baking soda, the vinegar, and their reaction when combined was wasted in the bowl before it could be applied. It also works pretty well (skipping the vinegar) for a quick pre-scrub on baking sheets before washing, and baking soda scrubbed onto plastic cutting boards and then fizzed away with vinegar will help remove most stains better than just washing in dishwater.

You will be amazed no elbow grease and very little time!

I have found for gas stove top grates that using a big big zip lock plastic bag ($ tree) and a cup of ammonia ($1.50/bottle) and letting them sit for 5-6 hours or better yet overnight really works. It has a strong smell, but the baked on grease comes off easily with hot water and minimal elbow grease. Open your dishwasher up and pull both of the racks out as soon as it finishes. It's so hot, the moisture will evaporate immediately and you can put your dishes away a few minutes later. The only water that will be left is in areas where it pools, like recessed cup bottoms. Just dab them with a dish drying cloth, takes a few seconds. Learned this decades ago. It also saves the energy used for the drying cycle. ☺️ Also, I learned from my mother back in the 70's to have a dull paring knife in your cleaning kit. With a cloth covering the blade it's perfect for getting into cracks and corners.

Oven cleaning hack: I like using backing soda mixed with water into a paste. Scrub it into the oven and leave it for a few hours. Later, take a spray bottle of vinegar and spray the paste, that had at partially dried (I find that the backing soda is easier to clean off if it has only dried a little bit and it takes less time). Then scrub as the paste bubbles up. Add vinegar as needed. It worked wonders for the oven in our house/apartment when we had to move.

Some basic chemistry for cleaning hacks: baking powder is basic, vinegar is acid, combine the two and they foam and create a salt - not table salt, but a salt. Bases dissolve grease by the saponification reaction - turns grease into soap, the stronger the base the more soap it creates. Using lye to make soap is just that. Lye is very strong, baking soda is weak. For cleaning an oven I would use borax - that is in the middle of the scale. Detergent + borax in a paste, leave it there overnight. Before you wipe it down spray it with vinegar - that will add moisture and bubble up, so it comes off easier. Any recipe that says mix vinegar and baking soda is BS, it's cool because it foams, but it kills both cleaning agents. (I am not a chemist - this is just what I learned in high school - it kinda just stuck with me)

The best hack for cleaning ovens and is safe for pets is a mix of lemon juice, dawn and vinegar (I think it’s equal parts, but you can check online). You leave the racks in your oven and spray everything heavily with the solution, leave it overnight and wipe with a damp sponge or rag in the morning. NO SCRUBBING! I literally sprayed my oven racks off in the sink and Voila silver again. I also read that it can be use for bathrooms. I didn’t care for it in the bathroom better than scrubbing bubbles and a bathroom magic eraser (or knock off). My tub and shower were much cleaner that way. Good luck! Enjoy your sweet baby.❤️

An easy way to keep your cookie sheets clean when making something messy is to line the cookie sheet with tinfoil, or my favorite, parchment paper before adding the food. After you are done cooking you just through the liner away and give the pan a quick wash to remove and residue. Makes clean up quick and easy, and makes your pans last longer. And for the glass on your oven door, after you apply your product and let it sit, take a razor blade, like you use for glass stovetops, and carefully scrape the glass. The cleaner loosens the grim and the razer blade removes it without as much scrubbing.

For cleaning the oven - make a paste with just baking soda and water. Apply it to the burnt on grease, etc. Then just turn on the oven for like 10 minutes and let it cool. That stuff will dry up and become a powder that's really easy to wipe off, taking a lot of the grime with it. Repeat until it's clean. The same trick works for cooked on grease on the glass stove top. I don't know the details but cooking baking soda turns it into "washing soda" - some sort of chemistry happens. Maybe that's why it works so well.

There’s dishwasher cleaner products fairly cheap $5 & under just run it in a cycle by itself. Works great for me. Definitely going to try the towel hack if i can. I usually run it before work or bed.

You can use play dough or slime to clean small places. It liftes up dirt sand ,dust. You can use it to detailing your car.

To clean gas stove grates, place each in a gallon bag and pour about a quarter cup of ammonia into the bag and seal it. I'd do this outside and not in the house. I let mine sit overnight and then remove them from the bag and wash. This really cleans the hard, baked on stuff off of the grates.

Oven-pride is amazing for cleaning cooker grates, oven and doors. Empty liquid into bag provided, pop grates in, leave to soak and rinse. Job done, really is that easy.

I tried the rainx in my showers, but we have very hard water. It just did not hold-up well. Now this is more labor intensive, but last much longer and has a cleaner look (not hazy). Turtle Wax when applied as directed in light layers works wonders. I usually apply 2 layers.

I use the steel dental tools that come in a set, for cleaning tricky spaces ( you can get them off Amazon or ebay) they are longer, firmer and re usable than toothpicks... and some are slightly bent meaning its even easier to get into tight spaces!

The problem with the oven hack is the backing soda activates with the vinegar in the bowl. By the time you've applied it to the oven it's already neutralised and you're basically trying to clean with gritty dish soap. Try mixing the baking soda with a bit if water to make a paste, applying it to whatever you need to clean and then spraying with the vinegar. It's should foam up on the surface of whatever you are cleaning and help lift the grime. It's still going to need elbow grease though.

I read once to put stove burner in a ziplock back add 1/2 cup ammonia seal bag and let sit overnight. I have a sink in the garage which is perfect for emptying ammonia in. Wash grates with soapy water. It truly cleans without any scrubbing. I let mine sit in garage overnight.

I’ve found putting your stove top grates get very clean in the dishwasher and when you have backed on or cooked on hard to clean pots and pans, I add water to them and bring them to a boil then add backing soda and dawn dish soap. Be careful bc it does foam up! Let it sit long enough to handle it and it literally wipes clean!

I got a hack from my house cleaning crew on stove top grates that blew my mind. Place each grate in a zip lock bag or a type of plastic bag that you can close completely. Poor about 1/4 cup of Ammonia ( I used lemon scented because that's what I had at the time) close the bag up. Try to get rid of extra air and leave it for at least four hours. I did this on a dare not really believing it would work. I had scrubbed my grates on a regular basis but there was always that bit of buildup that I couldn't get off. You know what I'm talking about. Every once in a while when I thought about it I'd turn each bag over to make sure all the surfaces had Ammonia on them. So something occurred that I wasn't able to get to the grates for a day and a half eek! BUT when I took them out of the bags and placed them in hot water the stuff fell off. It just FELL off to the touch!!!! No scrubbing. Underneath was the shiny looking-like-new grates that I remembered when my stove was brand new. My sister has an industrial size stove with huge grates so she used garbage bags. Not wanting to leave anything to chance she left hers in for two days. Same results! I really hope you try it and let me know how it goes. 💕

Great cleaning tips! I have a one great one for you. Take your burner things, grates? Anyway the black ones you were cleaning Take them outside and spray them with oven cleaner and put them in a trash bag and seal tight. Let them sit over night and then rinse them off! Another hack use bar keepers friend on your oven and oven door. For stubborn spots sprinkle it on and lay wet paper towels on!

for glass shower doors, there is actually a steel wool made for glass. i think it has 000 grit labeled on the package. it says it is safe on glass. i work for a cleaning company and we use that with lime away to scrub off the spots. spray, scrub it a little (i usually do a good swipe to make sure everything gets covered), let it sit for a little bit, and then go back and give it another scrub.

On the cast iron pan, the only thing I ever use to clean mine is kosher salt and I use a half lemon as a scrubber. I do use more salt (depending on the grease) than you did, but it cleans great and seasons the pan at the same time.

The self cleaning function on ovens are a God send. Seriously, set it, go to bed, in the morning your oven will sparkle! Just make sure to wipe out big chunks first or you'll have a smokey mess. The oven locks so you don't have to worry about small children opening it.

With the oven clean .... put sheets of clinging film/food wrapping film over the soap of choice. Then it won't dry and keeps working on the grease and grime. Works like a charm every time. (Btw. It's baking soda ur'e supposed to use not baking powder).

I know there are countless tips for mixing vinegar and baking soda...they should not be mixed, they cancel out the effects of each other. It's always best to use one and then follow up with the other. For oven cleaning boil the vinegar in the oven and let the steam penetrate to loosen grime. Once it cools mix baking soda and dawn into a past. Let it sit for 30 minutes them scrub with a sponge and wipe out.
