Iowa fan here. First of all Mika played the best defense on Caitlin I’ve seen all year. Second. paige is a class act and I hope she wins the championship next year.
I love Iowans of all kinds. I especially love a graceful fan like you who acknowledges the greatness of UConn. All of this is transformational for women's sports. I'm happy we were able to see and appreciate a great game and two great opponents. Most of all, I thank you for your civility. Sports in general needs more people like you
It's a team game and EVERY woman that stepped on the court to play for the UCONN University played with their heart and soul , then left all they had on the court. Geno is a GREAT coach and he and his players are humble, know how to take responsibility for their actions. Love this team, the coach . Go UCONN!!
Iowa Hawkeye alum here. I have big respect for UConn and the program they have created. Coach Auriemma recruits and moulds outstanding young women who exhibit the ideals of sportsmanship. They made no excuses, held themselves accountable for the loss and maintained their camraderie.
Congratulations but if the girls played like the mens team they would've blown them out had them on the ropes but can't finish that's why they lost Iowa not beating South Carolina
@@EliteSports217 Big UConn fan, but I watched it numerous times & it was a classic call. Both body movement and arm extension to try a d block the path.
Nika and Aaliyah were the 2 constants on the team during 4 years of uncertainty with covid and all the injuries. Both put their names in the uconn record books. 4 sweet 16s, 3 final 4s, 1 championship game. They can leave proud of what they’ve done
As an Iowa fan, I was amazed at the play of Nika, I've never seen such a performance. I thought Gabby Marshall did a great job also defending against Paige. What stands out to me is the Class of the ladies on both UConn and Iowa. The other teams in the nation should take note and learn from them. No wonder the viewership has taken off. The nation loves them.
Mad RESPECT for UCONN. NIKA did one incredible job defending against Caitlin Clark . The whole team plays with love and respect for each other and for their coaching staff . What a great game. I can only imagine what could have been if that last shot was allowed. 😢🎉🎉🎉🎉❤.UCONN NATION.
Nika had an awesome game. She deserves a lot of the credit. Iowa fan here. That team would blow everyone out if everyone was healthy. Something for him to look forward to next year.
With everything this team was up against, they greatly exceeded my expectations. What a tremendous season. And as always they act with class and handle adversity with honor, dignity and grace. Awesome job, Huskies!
So impressed by the UCONN ladies! No other team could have made the Final Four after losing 6 players to injury!!! That's an a incredible year, regardless of the outcome! UCONN's time to win the women's national championship again is coming. Mark my words!
@@MatthewGuynn-ki8rn in general yeah ofc one call doesnt decide the game genius but in this case the media certainly thought it did...taking away that final possession was huge for IOWA hence a game decider and I am an IOWA fan sir but I also look at hoops objectively
Hawkeye fan here. These three UCONN players are outstanding representatives for their school and women’s collegiate basketball, as well as great players. This coach and his players will always be a strength in women’s basketball.
Anyone who listened to all of this video who may have had thoughts that the UCONN 'condition' wasn't something special now fully understands it is. For those who have followed the team for many years can see a similarity in most of them. Star players who come to UCONN with a history of huge successes behind them find out quickly there will be a lot more expected of them than just scoring. Geno and his staff create a feeling of family to newcomers and with that comes constructive criticism which they will eventually grow to appreciate. Geno ('coach') always wants his players to perform at a high level he expects them to and if someone is falling short he will try to find out the reasons why. It has more to do than playing basketball, it has more to do about being truthful to one's self and facing challenges which can be overcome with hard work and initiative. He has their back and for four years he has welcomed them into 'his home' and will try to cultivate how they do things, on and off the court, which will make them people we will be proud of. The UCONN experience is very special and listening to this video told you how much each one of them cares deeply about each other and how proudly they will wear the UCONN colors in their life after their time in Storrs, Ct.
Caitlin missed open shots everywhere, it was truly just a cold night for her. Though I agree the UCONN guard did a good job defensively. Caitlin certainly wouldn't have scored in the high thirties or forty something points with that defense. It was not just Nika, the all around collective defense was good.
@@cubfan747, Caitlin & Paige looked befuddled they were missing so much, though more Caitlin because Iowa was getting dominated in the first half. Great defense on both sides!
Well for one, no one in the media asked Geno any gotcha questions about his team missing being on the court for the anthem. Not sure what point you are trying to make here, but I watched both post-game pressers (LSU and UConn) after losing to Iowa and imo all players and coaches involved handled themselves with class (despite whatever narrative the media wants to spin about LSU).
UCONN Women College Basketball, my favorite college sports team and basketball coaching staff. I hope Geno will be around for when my granddaughter is ready for college. Congratulations to you ladies and the complete program, can’t wait to see you next year.❤
No worries keep your heads up UConn women I know for a fact you all will make it to the Championship next year...I promise you all your hardworking and coaches will get you there while another won't be there, great overall season, Go UConn!
UConn style; great on and off the court. Even in the defeat against Notre Dame we could see the seeds for a brilliant run. Final 8 and then everything was possible. Well done girls, and kudos to Geno, CD and all the staff for creating a healthy environment
Every UConn and Iowa player earns the respect they get. I wanted Iowa to win but have never felt so bad for the losing team after wanting them to lose. I almost feel guilty.
My favorite team. "We put ourselves in a position to win a game we that we probably had no business being in given the circumstances." Four DI teams played in the Final Four, 356 did not.
not like UCONN doesn't get the best recruiting class most every year, even going out of the country to make sure they have the best. Give me a break. Let's see Geno take a team to the final four with all the players coming from Connecticut. I thought Geno was classless during his postgame interview. The call wasn't the first time an elbow was thrown during that game by a UCONN player either. Not only was the call correct, I was surprised it wasn't checked for flagrant.
The players on UCONN feel down for not winning but they should not have even been this far into the playoffs based on not having half of their team able to play. From my perspective they had a very successful season. I am not sure any other team could have gotten this far with the same amount obstacles to overcome. Additionally a great great job by Geno, Chris and the rest of the couching staff.

What a game, this uconn team is matured by decades and extreme credit to the coaching staff for creating that culture. These athletes are super impressive on and off the court. The amount of attention and love they have brought to this game will be remembered for a long long time. Congrats to Uconn, the fans, the students, everyone who loves basketball. Changed the whole industry of this game in the most positive way possible.
Shout out to Coach Auriemma and U Conn team. THAT'S how to run a first class team and hold your players to high standards. Here's to a great next season and hope you play LSU for a title game. Go show LSU Coaches and players the meaning of sportsmanship and class!! Well done

They achieved more this year given the major injuries they have had - especially with 5 all very good players out, including Azzi who was also a no. 1 pick like Paige - than anyone really had a right to expect. Relative to what they had available, reaching the Final Four this year was a tougher road than other years when they were undefeated IMO. It's always tough to lose but they should ALL be proud! That call at the end should not ever be made with seconds to go (LeBron and others agree), but even so a final shot is no guarantee of the win. But they played Iowa even at least (Caitlin Clark and all) and that's a great accomplishment. For next year, they have two freshmen in Ashlyn and KK who are really good and now seasoned vets. Plus if Azzi and the others come back heathy, with Paige, should be in good shape.
GO HUSKIES! Love you all, the entire team, you guys played your hearts out. Love watching the games you guys play. I'm just so lucky to have been a part of this team as a fan since Sue Bird. Thank you, thank you, thank you to you all.
Overcame challenges with injuries to make it to final four. Great team all heart. Gracious in victory and gracious in defeat. These girls left it all out there. Not easy to get to final four people often overlook that due to the success of uconn women. Paige back next year plus rest of team besides Edward's and muhl. They should be good. I'm proud of this team go Uconn. Both men's and women team in final four this year. Successful season Successful program.
UCONN players, coaches and staff were amazing. For me, I don't think our team could beat SC. I didn't want to see that. After the USC game, the joy the team expressed was for me the best that we could get and it was a beautiful thing.
I was rooting for UCONN all the way and do believe that screen call was bogus. Iowa played great .. wish them luck against SC. Don't think UConn nor Iowa would win against the Gamecocks.
Only thing about Marchness , everybody sad except the Champions. Unpopular opinion but this is Geno finest coaching job since I’ve followed his coaching work .
As an Iowa fan, I'm happy we got the win, and I definitely think UConn is a great team that deserves all the respect. Best of luck to them next year, Paige and Aaliyah are beasts!
I am a big CC and Iowa fan but I have to say after watching this press conference I have mad respect for the UConn team and their coach! What a huge contrast to the press conference with the LSU team, no whining or excuse making. This is one of those times when it really is true that it's too bad one of these great teams had to lose! I'd say in the court of public opinion that Iowa and UConn, no matter what happens, are the 2 classiest teams in the tournement!
Lot of respect for you ladies great job and Aaliyah,Nika may journey continue to be great and to the of rest of Uconn great job see next season lot's of love ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Aaliyah, CT fans LOVE and appreciate you!! All year you have been amazing getting the team to the Final 4 both on and off the court. Hold your head high as you deserve much accolades! You are such a positive role model! Wishing you all the best in the future.
Stop focusing on one play...Paige is right...there are so many other opportunities on both sides to make or miss a shot. No team ever gets 100% perfect calls. Same for Iowa.
After watching my team lose last night on a BS call, Just heard that Uconn just got the #1 recruit - Welcome to Uconn Sarah Strong....Go huskies...PS....SC will demolish Iowa if they follow the defensive plan that Uconn had..
UConn, I've been rocking with you all the entire season and I truly wanted the team to handle that "situation", but you all played an amazing game all the same! ❤ you guys and 🙏 you find peace because few can do what your team accomplished😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉!!!
Huge Respect for Coach Geno!!! Yet you do deserve to be there!!! Outsiders might call it… “Lucky” Simply because of all this Team has… “Overcome” To Get To That Point!!! I think it’s a Great Job of Coaching!!! It’s a Great Job of these Players Performing!!! Obstacles were created that make folks say You’re Lucky to be There!!! UConn is Not Lucky… UConn is Good!!! With a… Humble Coach!!! Great Season!!! Spurs Up☝️ Go Gamecocks!!! 👍🏀🏆
box score: Iowa: 10-14 freethrows UConn: 3-4 freethrows Iowa: 9 fouls UConn: 18 fouls To the Iowa fans who came here to congratulate UConn and recognize the class of these young ladies - kudos to you, best wishes for a great game on Sunday!
Been a UCONN HUSKIES women's college basketball 🏀 team fan since 1995, and and while the Lady Huskies were denied the opportunity to go to the championship 🏆 game, I am very happy they went the distance during this past season. Thank-you UCONN WOMEN, GO UCONN!
I have mad respect for Geno, but the 2020 recruiting class had one flaw. I think Geno didn’t realize at the time how much Dawn Staley would have on recruiting and her ability to stack talent and create depth would be at this level. Saying that he should have recruited Paige and Caitlyn. Caitlyn wanted to be a Husky but wasn’t recruited. Bro Paige Buckets and Caitlyn Clutch on the same team with Geno coaching? From Freshman to Seniors they would have been HELL even for Carolina.Good game ladies thank yall for giving us a few hours to escape the daily pressure of life. We as men want to see yall grow and become just a big as the men’s game on every level. We wanna be able to watch live sports 24/7 that’s why they created ESPN.
Uconn too classy to blame the call but most know that Iowa was doing precisely the same thing all game long to get Caitlin open & got zero calls for it. Uconn got 4....the last of which robbed them of chance to win game on court. The women's game, which I love, has limited growth ahead if the godawful officiating is not improved. This was a disgrace.
Not sure why Uconn didnt set better screens to open Paige shots. Paige is the best player. Paige is the best representation of sportmanship. Thx Buckets !!
The talk and respect in this comment section(especially from Iowa fans chiming in) is WAY different than the LSU game. The going out of their to speak respectfully of the other players. Some things are so blatant and transparent.
Great job by this team i just love em...I hated to see a game like this have a call like that in the last 10 seconds but it is what it is...I will certainly be cheering the Huskies on again next year.
