As always great video. I like the idea of the smart battery but personally will not buy technology like this until the vendors have a standard. Gens makes a nice battery but not nice enough to justify the extra cost that comes with the name. The rc industry really needs to embrace open standards
They should have used the existing ISDT Bat-go standard. We dint need 200 smart battery standards. And when 2 or 3 charger manufacturers use the same standard then we would see more 3rd party smart batteries.
The Gtech solution is good. The pin on the battery is not petruding so you can still get a Gtec battery and still use it on other chargers. As it's not a balance function, it's just a profile for the charger to read out.
I've seen other ways to do this using another connection for 'data' on the XT60 connector. All are nice ideas, but we need a universal standard. Happy flying!
Does it discharge for storage at the full 1C current? My charger only discharges at .4A and takes forever, not to mention the horrendous fan noise it makes.
D300‘s discharge power 15W*2, which is not very high. So it may takes a long time if you use the discharge function. See things like the BD250 for discharging. It is what I use here.
Curious to know if the number of charges is stored on the smart battery and displayed on the charger, would be nice to to be able to be able to uniquely identify the battery via a serial number or some other identifier baked into the battery
