The a-side of “Atom Heart Mother”, arranged by vanguard musician/composer Ron Geesin, presented a unique production for the era with it’s larger than life, avant-guard/ classical influence.
Upon my early listenings, I was shocked and amazed by David Gilmore’s sinister slide guitar workings, as each section presented it’s dark universe in turn. It was, and is still particularly meaningful to me, creating lasting impressions and possibilities in soundscape as I began to musically express myself. It is ultimately at the heart of my decision for forming Pink Floyd Trips.
The 2nd half of Gilmore’s solo in Atom Heart Mother imparts yet more alien mysteries, emitting sonic impressions of a vampire playing electric blues guitar, while accompanied by a haunting vocal chorus in the isolated realms of a Victorian mansion. The avant guard chant, followed by the orchestra’s bombastic crescendo bring the piece to it’s momentous conclusion.
It is truly set apart from the rest of Pink Floyd's catalog, and is a powerful composition that leaves an honest and lasting impression.
In celebration of it’s 50th anniversary, we are honoured to introduce this year, for the very first time, our fully orchestrated rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Atom Heart Mother” album in it’s entirety.
