if you read all of fischl’s dialogue, she has a line where she gets angry at your transgression against the princess for skipping her dialogue, meaning she knows she’s in a game
Let's be real, if anyone would notice, it would actually be Oz, and he would just tell you later to not do that again (or to at least interact with her more, since she likes it)
Really enjoyed singing this one! And I LOVE the parallel you drew between pulling for a character and pulling a slot machine! At the end, when Prof. Chalk starts playing Honkai Star Rail, and Mihoyo puts on a skin showing that it's just another version of the same thing... Deep! Catchy and deep!
My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.
Even if Fischl mostly is speaking random noble language. I do like this sentence "Know this: while you may skip my dialogue in pursuit of another, The Immernachtreich shall forever remember thine transgressions against its sovereign!"
Yes and no, there's a lot more games that there's no pity system, on this games there's rules about making it not that gambling, you hit 90 pity you get 50/50, you hit again 90 pity you get it 100%. no exceptions. while other games don't have pity systems and it's just luck ( lootboxes), but yeah a lot of people has a gambling problem.
@@grayblood0 it shouldn't even exist in the first place, lootboxes went out of style for a reason. It's gambling no matter how you spin it, whether you have a pity system or not.
@grafi8430 Thing is, it's literally impossible since Amber, Kaeya, and Lisa are locked to the Standard banner. You can't get them in the event banners.
1:30 I love the consistency that your singer/mascot guy is a professor and occasionally starts these songs in the middle of their lectures. The one student agreeing with their pain is wonderful. xD
For those of you who want the lore at 0:26 "Ah, traveler, as we stand amidst the firmament's embrace, I, Fischl, Pinzessin der Verurteilung, have glimpsed a vison most grand. The tapestry of fate has woven a destiny Wherein I shall erect a kingdom of unparalleled splendor! Hark! Would you, O brave soul, Consider allying with me in this divine quest To birth a realm where both our legacies shall interwine eternally? Ah, Oz whispers of a treacherous truth. Doth thou merely skim the vast depths of mine words, Seeking but to hasten our discourse? By the heavens! Art thou only in mine company To unlock another, more coveted ally? Betrayed, I feel, by one I deemed worthy. Wouldst thou use me so callously, Traveler? Know this: while you may skip my dialogue in pursuit of another, The Immernachtreich shall forever remember thine transgressions against its sovereign!"
Only got one FIschl con but not wishing much recently lol (Got Jean for the first time on Kazuha's last banner.....got her again on Venti's now, haha) I just want hydro claymore now :']
@auraknight98 The first region in the game is called Mondstadt, and it's based off of Germany. However, Fischl here is a special case. She has based her entire persona off a book series she read when she was young. She is basically like those weebs who constantly insert Japanese phrases into their speech and act like they're the protagonist of a shounen anime.
What a fantastic and, when you're really listening, horrifyingly realistic depiction of games utilizing predatory gameplay design to awaken and hook gambling addictions.
Then maybe… You shouldn’t play games that are in the “gamble for characters” genre. I mean, Mega man X DiVE released in offline version that’s only a single buy with no other microtransactions.
3:05 Paimon had definitely follow us to HSR with “You hear a familiar sweet lady voice saying: How about explore the area ahead of us later?” reference in the first act
Paimon is evil, so many times I've found the perfect place to take a picture of because I won't remember what it looks like and then she starts making me fall off a cliff.
I absolutely love the consistent storyline that goes throughout every different song. Professor Chalk is such a good main character for them and I love how details from previous songs can be seen again in newer ones like the students in the front row of his class, or the consistency of his bedroom and lecture hall
And you can see one of the students definitely didn’t want him back, as they drew an among us character on the “welcome back” board, despite knowing that was what set off his last manic episode
I don't generally comment, but this is so brilliant - from the ridiculous achievements to the pointless 100% zones, this absolutely screams of someone who's had to deal with this games bullshit. The sheer amount of spot on moments (that the protagonist is pulling for an unreleased character, getting a Qiqi, how check-ins feel like they give nothing, gaming as a limited time chore, the frustration of streamers pulling what you want, etc) is extraordinary.
I know this isnt related to genshin but the streamer thing is so relatable to me when it comes to DBL. Spending months grinding the story and side content so i can get stamps only to use 11k chrono crystals (because im not spending money on DBL of all things) and get nothing. Then while im watching youtube i see a random streamer getting "ULTRA broly (super) & broly (z) tag team" or "LEGENDS LIMITED SUPER VEGITO" (and yes i know the first example doesnt exist). Tldr i have quiten the game cuz FUCK ULTRA ROSE AND ULTRA KID BUU AND BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN GETTING SHAFTED THE LAST 11 EVENTS!
@@idk2167Well, the video is related to any gacha game tbh. Especially the part where your friends or the streamers you follow all get the character early while you get nothing or have to reach the pity system if there is one in the game. 😮💨
I will always remember getting 3, 5 stars in 1 day without spending any money, and my friend who watched me do it after she spent so much trying to get the character i got
I remember sending my friend a really sad message when I got a jean out of a 10 pull during the first Hu Tao rerun. Only to get Hu Tao at the very end OF THE SAME 10 PULL. I think the amount of times I have gotten 2 five stars in one 10 pull (one standard and then the limited) is slightly higher then the amount of times I actually won the 50/50. -_-
The same thing with my friend in Mario kart Tour’s early years, where my friend got Pauline first poll while I never get anything that rare no matter how many time I pulled things out of the roulette
My husband has that kind of luck in games too. I love the man but I have told him he's not allowed to tell me about his lucky finds anymore because it just makes me grumpy.
I love how The Chalkeaters are able to make a song and accompanying music video that appear to be about Genshin Impact, but really is about the struggles of addiction. Deep stuff.
Fischl's skipped dialogue: Ah, Traveler, as we stand amidst the firmament's embrace, I, Fischl, Prinzessin der Verurteilung, have glimpsed a vision most grand, The tapestry of fate has woven a destiny Wherein I shall erect a kingdom of unparalleled splendor! Hark! Would you, O brave soul, Consider allying with me in this divine quest, To birth a realm where both our legacies shall intertwine eternally? Know this: while you may skip my dialogue in pursuit of another, The Immernachtreich shall forever remember thine transgressions against its sovereign! 😮💨
Honestly, I wish I could just auto-skip any voice lines by Fischl 😭 I like her as far as character design. But her VA's german is absolutely atrocious and painful. Everytime she tries to speak German I can't help but either laugh or cry
I can't stress enough how relatable this it. Everything from losing 50/50 to qiqi and to trying to get last 20 prinos from a tea pot set. Can't wait for another banger of yours!
Qiqi also came to me instead of Neuvilette. Then his banner ended when I had approx 20 pulls left for win. I even considered buying some gems, but (thank goodness) the 18$ price tag scared me off every time So it's safe to say I'm the protagonist of the song 😅
I can't relate qiqi literally took me 2 years to get her... but I played genshin since the first day even till this day playing. I win majority of my 50% my greatest accomplishment is c6 hu tao, took me 4 re runs of her to finally wish her enough.
This is an anthem. It's honestly a great song, great animation and music video overall. I'm impressed, and am really enjoying it a ton! Just one more listen-
To the pull rituals, the "Do it for them" corkboard, crying about pity, pulling a Qiqi... You guys certainly did your research, either that or one of your own has fallen into the Mihoyo hole themselves. (I still call them Mihoyo too, even though they've rebranded to Hoyoverse) Quality as always from you guys, and glad to see Professor Chalk back again! Always looking forward to what you guys will come up with next, thank you for your hardwork and this bop of a song. :D
Does that actually say "Do it for Her?" It seems to read "Don't For- Her-" The I curves too much, and based on the spacing, it might say "Don't For(get) - - - - Her***?" I wonder if its a hidden message.
Someone definitely plays/played or they talked to someone who did. Only someone who plays would have added the part where he's banging his head on the Inazuma tree to try and squeeze every primo out because thats exactly what leveling the tree felt like.
Alios, the director/producer of Chalkeaters, did reach out to Genshin players for ideas, I was among one of those, we had a neat brainstorming session It's awesome to see our ideas actually implemented, hoyoverse should take notes lmao
@@Nekiplex heh I was making a joke that relates to the music vid. But really it was clearly that the green waifu is just a female xiao that looks like xiangling. While rewatching this song, cloud retainer was announced and I thought I say something funny XDXD
The Simpsons reference was beautiful. Also, that combined line "...shine on - Mihoyo" was masterful. That's a tricky technique to pull off and keep the rhythm fully intact, but you nailed it. Plus, the song as a whole is catchy and fun. In lore, I'm now wondering if that doctor was even real or if she was doing this behind his back, because the ethics of that 'treatment' was questionable to put it lightly. XD
@@Nechto_zloe The Simpsons reference was the board that said 'Do it for her' with all of the pictures on it. It's from the episode "And Maggie Makes Three" and it's one of the most emotional moments from early classic Simpsons. I recommend you watch it (the scene is easily found at the end of the episode), but... (spoilers below) Mr. Burns put a plaque in Homer's sector of the power plant saying "DON'T FORGET: YOU'RE HERE FOREVER", and Homer put pictures of Maggie all over it until it said "DO IT FOR HER".
As someone who gave up on Duel Links after it ate 3k-ish hours of my life. No Gacha-gamer has my sympathy. Its a cancer of a genre and its support should be abolished (or it should be regulated out of existence).
Chalkeaters, you don't release often... but every single video is amazing. I've probably listened to this song about 30-40 times in the last week, and it's still stuck in my head. Gah, Black Gryph0n on lyrics is just not fair!
I love how many references, rituals and integral community jokes are packed into these lyrics from start to finish. also the "GEO, PYRO, ANEMO, I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE" won't get out of my head
Professor Chalk had been in an asylum or something for a while during the events of It Must Have Been The Wind, and was released at the end of that song, with him being transferred to Paimon's care as his new doctor, which goes into the earlier doctor metaphors like purple pills and doctor mihoyo in this song.
I can't express enough how powerful the correct use of silence raises the impact of the song. That break to pull the lever was masterful, bravo Chalkeaters
@@Cinnamowo oh was that why the Freddy fazbear was there? I was a little confused about it so thank you. Also ya when the song finished I immediately thought of playing this song while I wish lol. Hope you get Furina :)
Omg I love this song. Also since I started listening to it I pulled Kinich at 43 pity and Raiden at 35 then Xilonen at 32 and then Chiori at 6. Thanks for the luck❤ This F2P really needed it! Very relatable btw!!! -Happy Travels
Same, I believe I am the one with the worst luck in genshin. There is 4 different gachas right? Well I never hited a 50/50. And all. ALL my legendaries are from at least 80 of pity
Oh I get it, you made an amazingly addictive and catchy hook for me to rewind over and over again to simulate the addictive nature of what it's like doing pulls in Genshin Impact. This was a completely deliberate.
@C____1-2 as an f2p, I just don't care about FOMO. I try to get the event character or whatever (navia rn) but if I don't I don't care because I get characters and I rarely play anyway
Absolutely love how on the first "One more pull" the mood is tense and you can see he doing his back to control himself, after that it becomes natural and he doesn't even stop to think about it. Just like how your first "One pull, just one ten roll, just one more pull" eventually consumes all of your pulls
Never understood that feeling. I just save and always have enough for the chars I want. The only struggle is to check if the char will be a good addition to my roster
@@LavaCreeperPeopleIve yet to see a game with a similar aesthetic and ost as genshin. People seem to forget that many of the so called “better” games are entirely different genres. Would love to see what those so called better games are when most things nowadays are overpriced trash.
@@Astrophel24 Well, it really depends on what aspect of Genshin you enjoy the most. Though Xenoblade checks off most of the boxes. Story, Open World, RPG, Adventure game. If it's specifically the combat, I'm not really sure though.
@@Astrophel24when genshin came out, it compared a lot to Zelda: Breath of the wild. So maby try that or Tears of the kindom. Thats just a suggestion, i neither played those two and only played a little of genshin.
Spend money on fictional characters is not worth it.Since it is live service game,if Genshin is shut down one day all of the money spent will be wasted
@jarrygarry5316 i try to remind everyone of this. I won't regret the 100$ i spent bc I've played 4 years and it's in my budget, but dipping into the thousands? Noooo thank you. It's like spending money on a game with no replayability, or cosmetics on multiplayer games. Eventually, you'll stop playing, and that money is gone.
The amount of memes and references are just insane. My favs are probably: The chad walking meme at rustages bit, the pulling ritual on the venti statue, the headbanging against the tree, the "blessing my eyes when I see her climb", the achievement hunt desperation to die by being boared and all that. And the twist of paimon following into star rail is just kinda brilliant. Not to mention the references to your other vids. Pfffftt, what a work of art.
Love the fact that when the professor is skiping all the text, if you take the time to read it shows that she does not appreciate it, there show be a noticed in the top left for a second saying she will remember this
I'm so happy you guys not only included the gacha-part of the game, but instead dedicated the entire song to it when the game itself is so much more than it. Because even though it is such a small part of the game, and can even be entirely ignored, it can still be so oppressive and manipulative that to some people Genshin really is just a giant slot machine that can eat through your money before you realize it, which this song is a fantastic visualization of.
I also love that the feelings that Chalk has towards the character he wants to get can be applied to almost any character as well, hence why the character is “Wai Fu”, instead of, like, Hu Tao or something. I’ll praise Genshin’s gameplay, music, graphics, and consistent improvements to its story all day, but I can’t deny that the gacha is the biggest turn off for a lot of people, and a fair reason for not touching it in the first place.
@@thesalsaguy4395 bah. i've spent 10€ on the game since 1.2. it's been 3 years and i have every character i wanted. i blame people for not having self control. the game doesn't remind you constantly to pull, you could literally spend a month only exploring and doing quests and the game would only remind you that the banner has changed.
@@gero693 You can say that, but not everyone can get every character they want without spending. If you like even 2 out of every 3 characters you'll struggle. And that's assuming you played from the beginning like you seem to have. If someone joins now it's going to be impossible to get everyone you want f2p if you're going for 1.x, 2.x 3.x and then new characters going forward unless you're tastes are hyper specific.
God this song perfectly reflects how I felt when I Realized H:SR was just the same exact trap as Genshin Impact. Log on, do whatever new stuff is there, do dailies, log off. Then it's just a constant go around of "log on, do dailies in five minutes, log off"
I’ve got some Easter eggs for y’all, whether you want them or not. Please, though, tell me if I missed any. 0:05 The lady Prof. Chalk subscribes to is named “Keanulover001,” and is likely the main character of their song “Breathtaking,” based on Keanu Reeves. 0:08 Starting from the left, there is a record on the wall picturing their song “Eternal Horizons,” three posters on the wall of their Bowsette song and their Skyrim song “Must Have Been The Wind,” and a coffee cup with an imposter on the side, referencing “A Songus Amongus.” 0:23 Obviously, Dr. Livesey walk cycle. 0:26 As pointed out by another comment, Fischl’s dialogue becomes aggressive and begins pointing out the skipping of text. It is extremely hard to read all the messages though… 1:34 The chalkboard (haha so clever) behind the couch has several images and messages on it, one reading Honkai>Genshin. There is an image of the Skyrim guard from the previously mentioned song, a picture of the Boykisser meme in the far right corner with imposters directly above, and an SCP foundation mark in the top left corner. There is also that neko cat character at the top center, but I can’t remember their name. 1:37 The girl singing at the front of class is Keanulover001, and the boy directly behind her is the guy from their song “Lock Me Up.” 1:47 The quest list shows a lot of side quests, two of them that he just completed by getting struck by lightning and hit by a boar. “Wrath of the Gods” and “Boared to Death” respectively. 2:09 I see a few action figures on the far right shelf, one of Hollow Knight, one of an Enderman, and a few I don’t recognize.
In 2:09 I also see lady demitrescu from RE: 7 and posters for Count to Three, Bowsette, and Must Have Been the Wind, showing that behind him is the couch he was sitting on during the line "oh no it's almost night".
this amazing song got me back to playing Genshin Impact.. Thanks for reminding me why I stopped playing in the first place.. But I just have to get one more pull before I log off!!
Unbelievable song, I listened this over and over again until I memorized all the words. It's a shame that this song has very bad views. One of the best works of The Chalkeaters! The animation and the song are very good, everyone who worked on it did a great job🎉❤
Even if I don't play Genshin, I really enjoy this song. The references of geek culture where so funny and definitely was a unique chill and silly masterpiece. Always loving your work guys. Good luck with the next Fnaf project ❤
As a player for 3 years, the game is so f**king GOOD and that's exactly why I don't recommend playing it. Its like they have good character design down to a science and they use their skills try to convince you to gacha for the character and they are VERY effective at lowkey nudging the gacha in your direction without making it entirely obvious that they're tryna sell you something.
Fischl slowly catching on is hilarious “seeking but to hasten our discourse?” “Betrayed, I feel. By one I deemed worthy.” “Wouldst thou use me so callously, Traveler?” “Know this; while you may skip my dialogue in pursuit of another. The Immernachtreich shall forever remember thine transgressions against its sovereign!”
