I have a feeling that he is a victim, he wanted the game to improve but hoyoverse just wanted to funnel all the resources to their other games and Da Wei became helpless on the situation Genshin is like the breadwinner of the family but still gets neglected by the parents because the youngest is their favorite
exactly this. its pretty obvious hoyoverses new games are their fav children until the newer game or huge update drops, then they put all of their ad money into that title instead. despite how harsh the industry is, thats just how it is
People here are shtting on Da Wei as if they've know what's happening inside lmao. I bet you were curious too how bad the team management before was but you didn't do something about that curiousity. Instead of doing a simple research, y'all ride the hate wagon and chose to be a scmbag. So FYI, there's an internal shift within the company (Sept. 2023) Da Wei has recently assigned as the decision-maker/chairman replacing Cai Haoyu. This slow up to massive update change now are the result of this management shift as Cai will focus more on developing and research about cutting-edge tech.
People are not interested in actual truth. They just want to whine and complain and hate. Cai Haoyu has always been the problem. I believe Dawei has always loved the game…but he was not in charge, he is now. Genshins future looks bright to me… FYI…Playing this game for almost 4 years and not going anywhere.
Thank you I have seen content creators say that he cries for attention and to make more people play Natlan I am honestly disgusted by that. Genshin turned the future around for Hoyo but it wasn't always like that, there were times when they had 50 employees and tried to finish Honkai Impact 3 after suffering crushing financial defeats. If you know nothing about this company please don't speak so confidently that applies to everything in life, be humble look up facts. China is in a sensitive time of change Genshin portraits women with dignity and a personality that is a huge leap forward for China. Maybe they can't solve all the world issues in one game, but try to see the good instead of the bad.
@@ryoukaip People are free to draw their own conclusions and have their own opinion, but unfortunately a lot of hate comes from ignorance of the situation. I cant control what other people think, I can just try to highlight those providing context.
i agree with your last statement so much at the end of the video. at the end of the day, we are all people and we all deserve respect. as many issues as there are in genshin, theres also a lot of good things that came out of that game too. i know its hard to remain positive, as i struggle terribly with that but being negative all the time won't help anyone. i cannot wait for natlan, see you all there! :3
And while you certainly don't need to be positive ALL THE TIME about everything that happens, keeping things in perspective is important and going being conscience about how you are giving feedback will, in my opinion, get better results! AND NATLAN HYPE!
Mihoyo has my respect for sticking true to their vision and being able to filter out tourists and haters from real fans who give real feedback in a sincere, modest way, rather than acting like Karens who WANT TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER, NOW! It's also important to remember that just because players give feedback, doesn't mean the company is obliged to address it. It's not a community-driven game. Feedback is important, but it's also important for players to understand that the company always has the final say and they can simply go "no, we won't do that", or they can even go silent and don't even talk about it. Doesn't mean they're not listening. Listening does not equal acting. They hear everything, but they decide what to do with what they hear. They must take into account all kinds of things before they make a decision, and that includes business choices, of which players are not even aware. What may sound like an amazing idea from player's perspective, may have terrible business consequences. And Mihoyo is where it is because they're able to make good decisions that benefit their business. One may say "there's nothing special about mihoyo, they're just making gamba games for addicts, it's easy money". If that was that simple, everyone and their mothers would be doing it, even if they could get a fraction of mihoyo's success. There's passion and love behind mihoyo games, and throwing that all under the bus because "BOOO NO ARTIFACT LOADOUTS" is just so disrespectful. I don't know man, maybe people feel obliged to hate on the company because they make so much money, I don't know. Could be it, cuz I often see the sarcastic comments like "why are you defending this multi billion company". And I'm like shut up man, I'm not defending them because of their financial status, I defend those who do good, and they're doing good. They treat their workers better than most companies, they allow creative people to pursue their dreams, they allow for content creators to freely stream their stuff without copyrights, they allow people to sell fan-made merch without suing you... Like, shut up (not talking to you, Malnoxx, but to the haters), wanna bark at big bad corps, go bark at EA or Blizzard, Apple, or even Nintendo.
I agree 100%. I think there is a very entitled mindset with many in the community that they are OWED things in this game because they have been playing for a long time when that is simply not the case. They release new content every 6 weeks and have for the past 4 years. The huge crowd of "F2PBTW" crying because we got a FREE standard 5 star instead of 90 wishes for the anniversary and saying they "don't trust" HoYo anymore just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Again, be critical, give feedback, but don't cry when you don't get what you want.
But on the flip side, there's a valid of criticism and issues with the game that they ignore. And they are rightfully called out for it, though often in a bad way. Like Dehya's burst should not be cancelled by jumping, but instead by hitting the burst button again, so that is PC friendly. But it is Dehya and PC and they can't be bothered to fix that. Stuff like Chiori's construct dependency coupled with her C1 should not have made it to the beta server, let alone to live. The weakness of Siggy was very evident before her release and they released her in that state anyway. And I rather doubt they hear everything. The game has millions of players. There's likely way, way more feedback than they can process. And when it comes to handling such feedback, they most likely focus on China first, because, well, the feedback is in Chinese and it is their biggest source of income, so both easier and more important. And even then, most of it is ignored. There has been very little QoL over the course of the game's life so far, and most of it has only started coming since the release of HSR, a game which uses a chunk of the same code. Even obvious things, like collect and send right back out for expeditions took years to get. They also make a lot of design mistakes. Like Theater. It's a bad mode with a level/quantity based bit of gatekeeping, when the mode itself already has vigor and stage clearance requirements. You don't need to gatekeep. Let people play. And this mode is one that they know messes up team compositions and will therefore shift artifact and weapon requirements. But even though they knew that was coming, they did not release a system to address this. All we have is a nice handy system for gearing a character faster (which I quite like and find useful, yay on them), but not something to let us handle different artifact needs for different things... no system for swapping easily between load outs. Then there's Mika, a character who offers nothing physical needs to address its issues, one of which is the ability to break shields, and guess who has probably the worst elemental application of any character in the game? It often feels like their designers are fresh out of school, that they have no experience. They're just lucky that the elemental reaction system, which itself has some serious balance issues associated with it, bails them out rather often. Likewise, Hoyoverse is very bad at handling PR. And I'm not just talking about simple things like giving standard wishes and fragile resins more often more often, something that would have let them avoid much of the anniversary issues at the minimum, but just not doing things that are in their own best interest. We're almost at 5 years old, and they still do not announce their live streams using the in-game notification system. It boggles the mind. Like, why hasn't the person in charge of the OSTs said, "Hey, live stream guys... you should do what we do and let people know about it in game." Mind you, I do think people need to give feedback properly. Not ranting and raving. But does Hoyoverse, and the Genshin team in particular, deserve a lot of criticism? Yes, yes they do. They built their bad reputation over years.
@@Axterix13 that's all good but you should do it with respect when criticizing instead of being hateful and cursing the genshin team, some even getting death threats... no matter how bad a game or their team may be, they don't deserve those shit honestly,
@@Axterix13 100% there are valid criticisms! I agree that a lot of times they are given in an incorrect way and unfortunately because of that are often overlooked by many as someone just ranting and raving instead of trying to offer valid criticism.
I dont feel the need to bash this guy for genshin, i bash the game itself and question the team behind it which made all the poor decisions. Though at this point genshin had let me down so much that even if they start giving out good rewards i personally no longer cared, i do hope that others could enjoy this game which i no longer can. As for Da Wei, well i think people took their grievances with the game out on him too far, it’s tough being the face of a project, because you’d bear the brunt of the negativity when things go wrong, people dont realize that a project isnt just run by one person, and that one person doesnt call the shots on everything either
He may not be responsible for everything but he did NOTHING since 2020. So… he reaps what he sows with his inaction. He closed both eyes and let Cai Hou Yu fuck up the company and now he wonders why 2024 was such a rough year for genshin?
Cai Haoyu stepped down and that makes the difference. Dawei I believe has always loved Genshin but he did not have control until after 4.0….. I blame Cai Haoyu.
Finally a sane person. I thought nowadays kiddo players are all self-centered spoiled brats. Back then in my days when gaming just started being a thing such thing wasn't even in thoughts of players to be in rage with gaming company over such ridiculous things. You got a subscription for spreading good vibes and thoughts in nowadays gaming community esp when it comes to such well thought and meaningful games as Genshin.
@@SamuraiSx19 I've played WoW since 2004, I pay $15 a month for the game and I have never seen the level of complaining and entitlement I see in the gacha community sometimes. It's crazy.
Genshin Story nerver made me cry But this man made me cry fr I feel so sad about how people treat the devs of the game which the like I never complained about Genshin and never will
I feel bad now he is crying That means he is working really behind the scenes I know how it feels when hard is not appropriate. I am happy now I don't play this game for a whip but I play this game for brother and sister story. And the complaint should be a complaint not a b*lly. Don't try to satisfy everyone even if you are doing good there are always people who will criticize your work. He is a human, humans make mistakes and learn. I know how frustrated it is to work for a company like this. My brother also got white hair because of the screening...😢
4:55 that's a small reason why Genshin did so well it's one of them but the excuse that it's popular because of Covid is False remember that ALOT of popular games' player count dropped during Covid, World of Warcraft for example.
Look, the improvements did not happen in 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2024. It happened in 2024 AFTER the release of Wuwa and the Neuvillette nerf controversy. With such an apathetic dev team who only cares after pissing of their main rice bowl (the CN playerbase) I don’t know why Dawei is so perplexed and shocked that 2024 is such a rough year for Genshin. Sure he didn’t directly cause this but he sure closed his eyes for nearly 4 whole years to the greedy decisions that genshin dev team cooked up to make playing miserable. Dev team may be invincible against international players but they are nothing to their CN base
@@noirsgaming8800 I’m sorry then what is Dawei’s job??? To be locked up in a tower like a little princess? The least he could do was acknowledge it. Put it to words that he knows “so and so” is a problem that players have brought up. Instead, what the players have been screaming their lungs out have yet to be brought up. It took REPORTING TO THE GOVERNMENT for them to put into words and clearly ADMIT that they fucked up with the Neuvi words. Players shouldn’t have to put this much effort just to be HEARD. He says “players words are sharp” but again, still will not pinpoint the problem until CN players were pissed off and demand to take it to court. I’m not being harsh just on him. He isn’t in charge of it fully, I understand that. The entire dev team is in on this. Still, he did NOTHING. Not even anacknowledgement. Therefore,to me, he is All the Same as Cai Houyu, but with a cutie patootie persona. They think they can just quickly sweep important feedback comments under the rug and quickly move on to useless comments like “awww cute animalsss”. Once again, too little too late, Dawei’s tears do not wash away the inaction of Genshin dev team and active sabotage of player’s in game quality of life
i need to see consistent pattern of good change from here onwards. not one-offs. otherwise i can’t trust this Dawei or this new genshin team. it’s just too big of a coincidence that after competition have started to show up in the gacha space that they’re suddenly giving 5* selectors and listening to criticisms from all the way back in 2020. fyi, we still don’t have saveable artifact custom loadouts until now. good words and promises from them mean nothing if it’s not backed up by consistent action. “at least this is a step in the right direction,” so they say. i just really hope we _actually_ get to right destination, and not need another 4 years.
@@aboutme7810 Yes. To me it sounds like it’s coming from American players who are ignorant of other cultures and too arrogant to care. Demanding others comply with their world view.
Na don't give those idiots the wrong idea that they are winning. The pitiful EN boycott has ZERO impact, this has much more to do with the CN side with all the dissatisfaction and frustration built-up over over the years finally breaking the camel's back. The last straw being Hoyo tried to nerf Neuvillette and the 4.8 story being controversial with lots of complain of poorly written with Nilou being out of character, forcefully making Wanderer the hero without finishing his redemption arc first and leaving a bad taste in players that are either still having forgiven him or even just neutral, and how MC (player insert) are being written as a useless clown (yet again) for the sake of popping up Wanderer. People always talk about how toxic the Genshin community (EN side) is, they don't even know it's nowhere close to compare to China side of the internet, with all out war across social medias and platforms between different fractions of die-hard Genshin/Hoyo fans, Genshin players that love Genshin dead-inside not having hope for improvement, and all the Genshin/Hoyo antis etc.
Why should I feel bad for him? He's the CEO or leader isn't he? If he's in his office almost crying because neither his team or him like the game then, hear me out on this crazy idea, how about they fix it? Star rail was able to do it, wuwa is doing it. They're shooting themselves in the foot and then crying about it in their lamborghinis. With all due respect: f that.
Please at least try to research what you're talking about. Dawei only recently took over the decision making role of Genshin Impact. He was the decision maker for HSR and is now the decision maker for Genshin and is trying to slowly implement many QoL change moving forward.
@Malnoxx he's been in power for almost a year now, correct? In that time I'm sure genshin alone has made close to a billion dollars. Did we not have a lantern rite where they could have released some of these QOL changes? That we've been asking for for 4 years?
@@Avery_37 since he's taken over we HAVE been getting QoL changes. Maybe slower than we would like but we don't know how long some of these take to implement. I'm not saying he is flawless, I'm just saying people need to have some perspective and remember there are real people with real emotions behind the games we play. That's all.
There's 4 people in charge of Hoyo, he's not the only decision maker. The one behind the bad decisions owns 51% of Hoyoverse and was the Genshin lead the entire time. Da Wei only just took the Genshin reins 6 months ago when Cai left for a project in the US and has been improving since.
@Malnoxx You're the first CC I've seen to remind people Da Wei is only the face of the company, and that there are three other owners. And that the battle axe of the 4 is the one that's been in charge of Genshin. Stingy rewards and lack of QoL updates happened in HI3 when Cai led that game too. Not like Da Wei was able to fire or remove the guy who held as much power as Da Wei.
For real. They didn't care about the game and players at all. It's horrible that now he's appealing to emotions when all the time they knew very well what they were doing. They ruined the game for all those years and now this, acting like poor bullied developer... bruv... shameless. Where are apologies for how they were treating us like sh...??? ZERO trust.
