I’d argue Itto has one of the best personalities in the game (also thanks to his VA who fits the character). He can be a bit of an airhead and ooze out some cockiness here & there but he really has a heart of gold and great humor. His relationship with the grandma that adopted him is so cute too lol

To answer Beth's question about the pretzel-shaped rope on Itto's back, it's called "shimenawa" in Japanese culture. In Shintoism, shimenawa are special ropes used to mark sacred places like shrines, and are believed to ward off evil spirits. There's a variation of shimenawa ropes worn by sumo wrestlers when they reach the rank of 'grand champion', which is what I believe the devs were going for with Itto's visual design (he even does the classic sumo stomp in one of his idle animations).

Itto is actually a himbo, he is very childish and a jokester, but in serious situations he becomes very serious and cool in his own way

Itto is definitely cocky but in a very funny way to me. He’s loud and dumb but actually very sincere and kind in his own way. He’s actually so funny sometimes and that’s what i love about him Gorou is actually underrated lore wise i think he’s an upstanding character but with his fewer screen-time and most of his screen time is light hearted story from the event instead of actual combat so his “general” position is kinda weaken. In the end , people see him as cute puppy and yes me too lolololol Gameplay wise, Gorou and Itto is like twin duos team for me cause their kit is so perfect for each other..itto for damage and gorou for massive geo buff

Gorou is my favourite character of the three, especially after going through his hangout event. He gets better when you finish his constellation that further improves his abilities. For quite a long time I’d run a trio of Geo characters with Gorou, Zhongli & Arataki Itto. I gave Gorou a blend of defense & healing since his burst adds in a bit of healing with the last part of his constellation.

Itto's just fun and he has some of the best English line deliveries, one of my favorites is when it rains, "Pff, real men don't carry umbrellas hehehe Oh boy, wow, it's really starting to pick up. Uh quick, c'mon, get yours out! C'mon, quick, quick, quick!"

Thoma is the housekeeper for Ayaka and her older brother Ayato (a character you have not seen the Collected Miscellany). Itto is a funny character because he looks tall and intimidating but he is actually just a goofball who likes playing games. Gorou serves as a general under Kokomi. He is also afraid of Yae Miko (she’s the shrine maiden character) because she always teases him

Itto is kinda like the playful character of the game

There are a few characters who, if they appear in an event, you know it's going to be entertaining. Itto is one of those characters. Klee and Yoimiya are also in that list. Even if Itto only appears in a little cameo scene, he steals the spotlight because he's very funny. I think part of his popularity is because his English voice actor has amazing line delivery. He's also fun to play. Several of the new characters from the water themed region seem like they'll be a hoot in events too, but it remains to be seen.

Choosing a favorite character from these 3 is hard! They're all amazing tbh. I do agree with Ken tho (Itto, Thoma and then Gorou). Itto is my second favorite character in the entire game because while he is cocky, he's also very fun, protective and caring. Fun fact: he calls Thoma "my bro, my guy, my dude" (in the same sentence, in that order lol) and Gorou "the doggy general" 😅

I love gorou a lot, And he pairs well with Itto since he’s a geo character, but either than that he’s kinda niche which is very unfortunate since I love the dog boi, still happy i managed to get him tho

Itto is the one character I don’t have and supposedly, the next time he comes around on the banner will be at the same time as a character I want and that’s Navia, I like Thoma, especially during the Inazuma story, I’m currently doing his hangout and the weapon I have on him is from the first event I ever did and I’m kicking myself for not R5-ing it, Gorou is my least favorite but he’s not that bad

Worth mentioning Both Itto and Sarah Kujou has a Tom and Jerry like relationship almost solely because Itto causes Public Nuisance and Sara is the 1 who ends up arresting him...reason for Itto Public Nuisances is because he keeps demanding a Rematch by with Sara after having his Vision confiscated by her at 1 time...Though the reason why Sara refuses such Rematch is because its a Sumo Wrestling match and both Combatants will only be in their underwear ...HOWEVER just a THEORY there is some indication that they might have known each other when they were KIDS but Itto doesn't recognizes Sara because when she was Younger she was often mistaken as a Boy. Not to mention in Itto Voice Lines he mentions how he wishes he could challenges that Tengu again when he was a Kid n there doesnt appear to be any other Tengu's menitoned

Itto is the best

Thoma is probably one of the least used Pyro characters since they’re more for support/defense. And having a good attacker is more sought after than taking more hits. For most people at least. But I love Thoma’s character as he’s the type of guy you’d want to hang out with and is just a very sweet. Same can be said Itto, but he’s more likely to annoy you with his antics before that happens. But the fanbase finds him just charming, so he’s got a pretty big following. Both as a character and as a unit, he’s got a position going on in the game. Gorou is actually a pretty good Geo buffer, which is why he and Itto were released so close by. They both work very well with each other. And the funny thing is, Itto has a relationship with Gorou that isn’t aware by either side. And it’s so goddamn funny.

For power level, I'd personally put it as Gorou > Thoma > Itto, granted these are closer and could be argued Gorou is the character that makes Itto's teams work for the most part, without him mono geo as an archetype would be lacking since both his defense, geo dmg buff, and geo crit damage buff at later cons all make mono geo what it is, especially when the defense is effectively more damage as well since both Albedo and Itto have their damage additionally scale with their defense. Thoma for a good while was probably a bottom 5 character in the game, his shield was fine but his damage numbers were just bad and made him often not worth using. After 3.0 though Dendro was added as a new element and due to Thoma's pyro application being fast enough to activate burgeon seeds but also slow enough to not apply burning often and make you generate fewer seeds he found a niche as the most reliable burgeon carry and is really the only good option available for the role, he'll probably be replaced at some point whenever we get a pyro that specializes in the role since Thoma doesn't have any innate synergy with building elemental mastery but that's probably a long ways off. Itto is the best dps for mono geo but I'd argue Thoma and Gorou above him because their roles can't be replaced currently while Itto is the best option for a dps in his teams there are still other options as well, additionally if we got a better geo support you'd just play them with Gorou but if we get a better on-field geo dps Itto would just not be played in his team anymore. Compared to Thoma you're comparing apples and oranges so it hard to really say which is better but Thoma has a bit more flexibility in his teams and his teams are a bit better at baseline due to how transformative reactions (burgeon, hyperbloom, etc) rely less on having strong artifacts and weapons compared to Itto who's dealing raw damage so I'd give him the edge. Itto is still the best dps for his team but I'd generally just rank supports a bit higher than on field dps because supports are less contested overall since you can really only have one on field carry in a team and can have up to 3 off field carries/buffers on your team. All of these characters are good but not great for the most part, they have their place in specific teams but don't do much outside of their niche.
