@@vicaaronnaval1881for real, i was apart of This sonic sweep (without me knowing) I just toxically joking about Genshin. However, playing Genshin made me realise that it ain’t so bad; both games is good. Yet It’s bizarre how sonic “could have” and would have won, if they would have kept their mouths shut
@Cxlzu To me, I don't hate Genshin Impact, I actually like it, even though I have never played it, I play Honkai Star Rail. I like it Genshin because of the characters, they all look cool.
The thing about the bribery, there wasn't a single word about us getting primos if we won this vote, the sonic community just saw the fact that we got primos for the playstation partner award, and instantly made up the lie that hoyo was promising us primos if we won, which was absolute crap.
Honestly making up that lie was a bad thing wr all know hpw gullible genshin players are I bet some of us really thought we were gonna get some (which we did but thats besides the point)
I’m an active member of both fandoms this was just insanity I had no idea what was going on and I just ate popcorn in my comfy corner and watched the chaos and everyone up in flames
Genshin community drama always bring a tear to my eye. Imagine uniting millions of people with different races, cultures, countries, across the world to collectively bash on a single thing. It is beautiful.
Did we even know about the awards tho? I mean.. i saw the primos in the mail box an Just took them, the Moment i knew about the awards was when i saw the photo of lumine killed by Sonic.
True. We only got primogems for the playstation awards and nominations. Everyone (particularly CN) just voting out of spite. Who the heck think it's good idea to make racism comments during China national mourning days for their politician figure? Of course they be pissed
What's even stupider is that, after the Game Awards fiasco, Sonic Frontiers got another chance to win another award on The Steam Awards with their musics getting nominated. They made another push just like TGA, but less agressive this time. And the result is.... they lost to Final Fantasy VII: Remake, a game that was released in 2020 that just got ported on Steam that year. Which in my opinion, it's far more insulting than Genshin because at least Genshin still have monthly updates and going strong during that year. It's safe to say, Sonic Fandom will have a huge *grudge* against Genshin fandom for a while now, but as a fan of both sides? i can't help but laugh
I mean, if that side of the fandom wants to have a grudge about a starting a pointless war and losing, then I don't think sympathy is on the table for them.
One day we will beat impact and no I want one of the ones who started this crap But I felt like I was attack frist we will beat impact one day they will not get away
Btw the time when the awards site stopped showing the votes happened because someone on the sonic comunity tried multiple times to imput 10k+ bot votes into the system and they even got called out on twitter.
I'm a member of both fandoms, and it really sucked to see both communities warring over something so trivial. Like, most Sonic fans really liked Frontiers, because it really felt like a step in the right direction for the future of Sonic games. It's not a perfect game, but it still does a lot of things right, so we enjoyed it. Like aside from the insane soundtrack, the storyline was cool (it was co-written by a long-time writer for the Sonic comics), the character writing felt solid, and the open-world-style gameplay felt fresh (and when combined with the ability to play as different characters in the new DLC, it was like a spiritual successor to the Sonic Adventure games) So understandably Sonic fans like myself were very passionate about the game and are hopeful for the franchise's future. But the Sonic Sweep thing did go too far. I just hope there isn't any bad blood between us fandoms anymore lol
Actually, what Sonicsweep did was something worse and I'd think to this day they had left a huge deal of bad blood, at least on China side. The racial slurr thing? It was done on a very very bad timing. During that time, they had a, allegedly, respectable leader recently passed away. And the country was mourning solemnly. With the insults throwing at their internet at the time, this triggered a massive nationalistic, patriotic movement from them. To them, the retaliation is a patriotic duty because they felt that they were attacked by the White imperialists (well, that and highschool kids don't have anything to do during the impromptu dayoffs given nationwide at the time). Now, never underestimate their capability for grudges and hate when you offend their ego, especially when it comes to their nationalitic pride. They can be worse than 4chan when triggered.
Same. I voted for Sonic Frontiers over Genshin just because I wanted Sonic to get a win, it’s been a while and I’m in both fandoms. It seriously sucked. Plus when it was happening, I knew that Sonic was gonna lose because they wouldn’t be quiet. I knew the Genshin fandom didn’t care, barely any knew about it until the toxic Sonic fans started saying stuff. It’s so sad.
I am not a fan of either. So i am impartial. Genshin Impact should not have even been on the list. It was not a Game for 2022. Also Even if people voted for Genshin. It would not have won. It was in no way as fan as Sonic Frontiers. It just proves sometimes you do need a judge.
I was like Mujin, I play Genshin in full swing and had no idea this was going on. I couldn't care less as Mujin has stated early on in his video, "we were chilling." I agree with a lot what he said as we already won several awards back in 2020/2021, this award in 2022 wasn't a big of a deal for us.
I know about it after the sht already went down, kater i watch some several content creator show disdain against genshin for no reason lol, i watched one of the creator i like (now i dislike) hated genshin alot despite have no deep connection with it, i shouldve already stopped watching their content from their previous statement from different games, they rode that hate wagon together, idk how
probably because, like you said, "just chilling" you guys were content at just letting it play out since there was nothing to prove or point out. gamers just being gamers (apart from just throwing shit at each other) but the moment the toxic side of the Sonic Fandom struck, you know you just had to prove a point the point being that you shouldn't throw a rock at a giant and not expect the giant to throw an enormous rock at you in retaliation lol
I remember voting for genshin but didn't know that they had something going on with the sonic community. I just wanted genshin to win, for the primos lol 😂
2:10 Dude you hurt my childhood game bruh as sonic fans I still adore the character there some wholesomeness, edginess and fun story but I also do love genshin impact but they both were the same vibe as sonic fans I don't think there is any difference Edit : also I just relize I think that also the reason why I come back to genshin because when I being sonic fans and dream smp fans if i remember there was alot sonic and lumine like hey well done it's a fair fair vote then i start to watch xiaolumi and then sumeru story and i was oh wow this is cool game and I remember play this game with my friend before knowing genshin and then I came back to play the game for now my favorite character are scara and wriothesley
@@jevs1555Its like classroom in middleschool. Only your class are "allowed" to make fun of someone in it; if people on other classes do it too, than thats War Its not a badge of honor, but kind of Twisted nacionalist pride
its crazy how a lot of sonic fans says shit like ”pedophile game” or some shit. im not denying there are some creepy people in genshin community. BUT…lets not forget some sonic community are also into beastiality 😂
@@Kaimax61they have the most known horrible people out there in sonic community, we only have teccy and some peep But theyre just being annoying💀 not really a criminal act
Oh man, I was there and since I am/was a part of both fandoms, this drama was so stupid. Like, Sonic fandom would've won had it not been for the slurs. Genshin fans did not even care for the award before that.
As someone who always vote for the awards, i did my vote to genshin after the sonic fandom started doing shit, like i wasn't going to vote to genshin from the start, as Elden Ring was a super fun game and i was in a break from genshin LMAO
IIRC I think that Genshin was also down for update maintenance at the height of this voting war, so the Sonic community poking at a massive community that had nothing better to do for a few hours was also an interesting choice lol
The former premier of china died earlier that week, so the genshin servers as well as all game services in china were actually shut down during the state funeral and mourning. Those players literally had nothing better to do, and sonic fans poked them.
I agree it was stupidly hilarious. I'm going to blasphemy here though, I'm a big sonic fan, have loads of sonic merch, pre ordered frontiers for the ps5.. and, well.. I've played an hour of it and left it 💀.. I've been having way too much fun on genshin instead 😂
Well, same here. There is one thing happened Four months later to 2023. That is Mario Movie 2023 vs Netflix's Cuties. Then months later, FNAF movie vs Cuties, again. Also there is one war, a month before Sonic vs Genshin. That is Moistcritikal vs Sneako, for context, Sneako started a war that he despised Charlie having happy time with his girlfriend. Charlie called him out, and told everyone that he commit cuckoldry with a lot of women than his girlfriend. Also, he got karma, watching his girlfriend getting railed by other dudes. And let us not forget the fact, that he is an extreme right-wing and Nick Fuentes supporter. And yes, he supported and defended Cuties.
Ok but like in my opinion I feel like once racism and stuff started flying around I won't be surprised if a lot of the Asian fanbase voted for Genshin even if they didn't care about winning simply because everyone was mad at the racism.
13:32 Tbf, Genshin was going to give out rewards regardless of winning or not because they issue those primogems for getting both nominated and winning.
To quote their own tweet: "Dear Travelers, Thanks to your support, Genshin Impact has *won* the "Players' Voice" award, and was *nominated* for the "Best Mobile Game" and "Best Ongoing" categories at The Game Awards 2022. Thank you for coming alongside us through this journey!"
That's the part many people, including Bran got wrong. If Genshin fan, with 60 million strong, even considered the possibility of getting primo from player's choice a possiblity, Genshin would've dominated the poll not from day 3, it would've been day one, potentially even minute 1.
exactly - most of the people literally didnt care about votes, and pretty much ignored the whole thing till sonic fans started boiling sh*t in the cauldron.
bribery was more about the 800 mere primors which was because the game was nominated not won meaning the genshin fandom didnt even have to continue voting to actually GET those primos
Something to remember about rewards for winning prizes: Genshin previously did not give anything for winning prizes, the community itself was the one that insisted that Genshin give some kind of reward for supporting them, so Genshin agreed and started giving rewards for winning prizes. , but it was something they were not going to do until the community demanded it. And during that time, people were waiting for the update, the TCG, Scaramouche and to make everything worse, the CN community was in Mourning (a former president died) nice reaction :3
They were REALLY lucky that the Chinese didn't decide to strike that hard, because oh boy... if you've seen some previous events then you know how vicious they can be when provoked
This was the time my CN friends made a document compiling screenshots of sonic fans trashing Genshin. They sent it out to every contacts and urged us to vote it was funny and I did vote just to piss off sonic fans. I didn't even know that award existed but heyy I guess thank you for letting us know🤣
I heard of genshin winning at the time but had NO IDEA it was because of this ridiculous war 😭 Maybe because I didn't have Twitter at that time so I was able to avoid the drama lmao
The one scene from breaking bad where Walter was told that if he’d just shut up about his pride everything would have gone well That day, genshin United as a game, Asia and Europe. Harmony amongst us to just crush the sonic fandom
Funniest thing: there already was a unanimous decision for gamers to let Sonic win back then, for once. Genshin Impact already won so many awards at this point in time, so it's pointless to add more. Until they saw the dead Lumine fanart, which triggerred many Lumine fans, which started the grudge voting. Which escalated to Chinese Slurs from Sonic Fandom as payback, which activated a Patriotic War Protocol from China, and also convinced the entire gaming community (not just Genshin) to vote out of spite and to teach Sonic Fans a lesson on Humility. And thay, my friend, is the summary.
@@horacestorm13 Just to also add some context, this all happen during China's national mourning day for the recent passing of one of their former leaders who have done great things for their country... So being racially attacked during that time is... Let's just say the stars couldn't aligned on a worse day for Sonic fandom.
@@mio3199 nope, zero evidence of it whatsoever, the increase in votes for genshin was consistent on day 3, without even any unusual sudden spikes. While for Sonic, not only are the spikes (multiple spikes) very unusual, there are literal screen shots evidence of botters DMing each other which got spread around in both Genshin and Sonic sub. I was following both charts, one is low, then suddenly have multiple everest peaks, another is low, and steadily climbing and consistent climb from round 3 with very little increase of momentum. Sonic accuse Genshin of botting because they are painfully unaware just how big the community is, that even when a small portion rallies for something, will cause a tremor so strong it almost seemed like cheating. Again, 60 million, heck, even if only 10million join in, it's 100x more than Sonics 100k. That mean each Sonic fan need to vote 100 times just to go even with just 1/6 participation from Genshin
@@airstyles1989 then what about the guy that said his friends add votes to sonic and stray then post about spotting a chinese bot? if im not wrong the fact that stray was actually in top 3 he could be trusted but he actually did spotted chinese bots in genshin vote. edit : since this airfarts guy prob blocking me now that i can't reply to him i will explain the evidence here. stray botting : The last image of Vote % when sonic and genshin draw 35%, stray suddenly went top 3 when in round 1 and 2 its clear people logically want to vote elden ring more than stray. detected bot in genshin votes : there is a screenshot included when the person saw the bot, you can find the screenshot at one of the segment in nativefall's "sonic most controversial award" video as he said "decent". Also airstyles bet you are desperate af for bringing money into an argument.
The warthunder with the military leak is true. Because some players aren't happy that the tanks being released at that time isn't on par with the real specs of that said tank. It was surreal and i heard it still happens from time to time
Unlike Sonic, Genshin didn't even mention about the voting event on their fb or twıtter, until the final result was announced, so the BRIBERY was HOAX. If they actually tried to make players vote, Genshin would have won since round 1. But no, most Genshin voters only knew about it after Sonic fans made the ruckus. The rewards were roughly the same amount of every after major updates, and you would get it whether Genshin won or lost (since it was already nominated), regardless you voted or not. Most Genshin voters simply wanted Sonic to lose.
BRO I WAS WONDERING WHY PEOPLE WERE TALKING ABOUT SONIC AND LUMINE- I was a genshin fan at the time, had no idea this was happening, but being Chinese and a genshin player and seeing some of the stuff that was said, I 100% agree. THE SONIC FANDOM WAS ASKING FOR IT.
Another connective tissue that fans found is that Lumine's Japanese voice actress is a Sonic fan herself (and voiced a character in the franchise once).
As someone who was playing both Sonic Frontiers and Genshin Impact when this happened, I was both surprised and incredibly confused when I found out that out of nowhere there was some kind of beef going on between the fandoms. Personally I don't really care about any of those award shows nonsense so this honestly didn't even come close to bothering me. What DID bother me is the unreasonable hate towards Genshin, the blind haters is what annoys me so when those people don't get what they want it brings me a bit of satisfaction. I honestly love both games I really do, I just wish people didn't try to ruin them with stupid petty sh!t that has nothing to do with the games themselves. In my opinion one of the worst mistakes you can make is to judge a game or a show entirely based on the bad side of their fandom and not the game/show themselves for what they are. An example of this is Undertale, it's a genuinely a good game but if you ask around you'll more then likely hear more about the fandom then the game itself.
Yeah, i mean if i poisened a bag of apples does that mean all bag of apples or apples in general is poisonous? No, you still know that the apple is eatable and taste good. So lets also treat the communities and especially the game it is associated with like that. Filter the bad apples and not being so delusional and think everyone is bad
I wasn't in that chemical trench warfare (I say the chemical part because of the toxicity there was) but man... If the Sonic community had stayed silent BEFORE the winner was announced, nothing would have happened, but no... They had to celebrate early X'D
As an autistic person, I'm not sure how he felt about his use of the word autism throughout the video, but on the other hand, the Sonic community really has a weirdly high amount of autistic people for some reason. Something about him just grabs us.
Yeah that really threw me for a loop in an unpleasant way too. The thing is, ANY fandom is going to have a higher percentage of autistic people than non-fandom environments, because media is something that's easy to hyperfixate or have a special interest in. So the sort of disparaging way he seemed to use the term was unsettling since fandom is usually a good place to hang out as a neurodivergent person.
This drama is the most exciting drama and what makes me like the Genshin fandom, the entire Genshin fandom who are lazy about voting awards, suddenly full of Genshin votes because the Sonic fandom is badmouthing Genshin. In the end, the Sonic fandom uses bots to compete for Genshin votes hahaha
@@mio3199 of course both side was using bots, but there are a major difference between there are bots and abusing bots. Genshin vote count was increasing steadily while sonic vote count suddenly jump high at some occasions and drop low.
We didn't even get amy rewards for the Players Voice awards, it was 800 primos for being nominated. A full 1600 primos was rewarded when Genshin won best mobile game the previous year. Edit: Oh I'm not complaining about the rewards, i honestly don't care. Just as I didn't care before the racist shit happened in this award.
Sonic community: *taking L after L after L* Genshin community: *tearing each other apart in peace* Sonic community: *gets one W* HAH OFCOURSE WE WOULD WIN JUST LOOK WHO WE ARE UP AGAINST A BUNCH OF LOSERS Genshin community: *stop and about to tear the sonic community a new one* Sonic community: EVEN IF THEY TRIED THEY CANT POSSIBLY WIN! Genshin community: *tries and wins easily due to a significantly larger community size* Sonic community: *suprised pikachu face*
16:55 There's an enemy in the game simply called "SQUID" that just appears with this unnecessarily awesome zoom in and sound effect which pretty much became a meme for frontiers.
oml I remember this time, it was absolute chaos lol and it was honestly kind of funny at first, but then sonic fans started harassing (racial slurs/comments, death threats, and it go SO SO much worse) poor artists, chinese artists specifically. Why???? Wtf did they do to you?? Bro they didnt even know that the tga or sonic fans existed T-T.
That woke up the Chinese Community, which violated a hidden rule in any voting-based game. And you do NOT wake up the Chinese Community. And another rule regarding China. Make a racist slur against China, and you will feel the wrath of the Patriots
This is the third time watching this video, first the original video, then tectone’s reaction and now bran’s reaction, and I still find it so funny and entertaining to watch, man mujin is pumping out some funny videos
The fact the sonic fandom was about to have one of their biggest W and dubs ever, but lost it because some few fuckers started talking shit. The hubris and sadness I was feeling from both ends was hilarious
I think that's the thing though, the community nor genshin themselves was bribing, players just highlighted "hey if we actually win we will definitely get thank you primos" because that's pretty consistent with how they operate. I wouldn't consider that bribery. Wondering if anyone will make a video about the back and forth with the Spider-Man fandom
You know what's funny is I wasn't really participating and only vaguely remember the "war". I only thought it was them beefing a little and jokingly, not like this. I recall CCs saying hey wait yo let's vote for genshin so we can get freemo gems! I literally told myself "I don't have to vote, the fandom is strong enough that I won't have to do anything" LOL. I also vaguely remember seeing people talking about how the votes were hidden, etc. 😂
Yeah, is it really bribing when basically no one gave a shit about the award show until the Sonic fans got racist? Lol Literally no one voted until that happened so the freemos aren’t really a bribery ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I had a vague idea of what was happening last year for the tga’s but I was too focused on finishing high school (which I graduated last year) to even care about it. It’s hilarious how the sonic fandom genuinely thought they had a chance when their community is 10x less than Genshin 💀
whats wrong about what Bran said about "bribery" Genshin don't offer Primogems for winning award its just that when Genshin won an award for the 1st time they gave a reward so after that players kept thinking/wanting they will give rewards again if they won another reward so they vote Genshin for the reward
As soneone was part of the community and watching it closely, Genshin really didnt do anything but vote and make memes. 'Salt for the Salt god' And that guy you thought was joking, it was halg joking and half serious. Like the Sonic community was the majority of the problem while the Genshin Communith didn't even fo it for the primos. We just wanted go humble Toxic Sonic 'fans'. We made up with the chill part of the Sonic fans and joke aboit it afterwards. And right now, I saw someone trying to start with Spider-man. So many people try to stop that right thsn and there by BOTH communtiy.
One correction: genshin NEVER gave us primos for winning, it was for being NOMINATED in those awards Imagine Genshin giving primos for free every time we vote for them... that's not the Genshin we know xD
Considering that Genshin Impact is constantly updated with new content, I think it should have been in the player's award And these content updates aren't small. They are getting big maps and stories. So I think that games like that should be included and it would be unfair to not do so.
I think if Hoyoverse didn't give any primogems for the nomination (they gave primos for the nomination, not for winning tho) it would have been a bigger slap in the face to the Sonic Community.
Genshin fans: *arguing with each other about who knows what* Toxic Sonic fans: *gets too cocky* Genshin fans: So you have chosen…death The people who has no idea what’s going on:…f%(k this sh!t I’m out!
For clarity, Squid is the name of a miniboss in Sonic Frontiers. Its kinda funny because when you first find it the camera zooms in and the word squid just pops up.
Hahahaha. I remember that I had interactions with the Sonic fandom before the whole Genshin Community went to war against them. Honestly, Sonic Frontier could've won the award if the Sonic Community would leave the Genshin Fans alone. 🤣 We were just minding our own business voting Genshin Impact. EDIT: I'm so happy to be reminded and be in the middle of that moment.
Damn I was considering subbing to Mujin until I heard the weird shots against autism. Reminds me of a 15 year old trying to sound edgy by taking shots at people for having a disability. Gross
A thing that video failed to mention was that Scarmouche was coming soon, so that was another motivator to earn Primos. Least, that's how I saw it. Also, probably the funniest thing was the outcome to this. The letter that gave us the 800 Primos was about being nominated for the award. Not for WINNING it, only NOMINATED.
Unleashed was goated. Hot take: the warehog was fun Also I’m still surprised/disappointed there were no fanart of traveler, paimon, sonic and chip having lunch and hanging out or something
No cause they really thought they could win against a MOBILE GAME. A GACHA MOBILE GAME,WITH AN ALMOST ETERNALLY ONLINE COMMUNITY😅😅😅😅like even i could tell that it was going to fall that way cause yeah, poking a bear isnt really something thats considered a really useful survival instinct😅😅😅😅😅
We as the Genshin community seem to basically have the combined power of the entire swifty and Army fanbases, a force powerful enough to topple the government and billion dollar companys within 24 hours x
It's the Sonic Fandom that started it. I don't care of Genshin win or lose, but they're so toxic that everyone united and managed to give them the Elemental Burst with +9999999 Damage back on them.
5 days late, but the bribery accusation is what put me into the war lmao. I remember linking to people that Genshin has lost awards in the past and gave out primos anyways. Winning doesn't matter.
People forget that a community as large as genshin is bound to have its fair share of psychopaths, out of millions of people the odds say you can probably find every kind of weirdo in there somewhere!
I love this video from Mujin cause it's so fun and chaotic and I remember this but I didn't know just bad it got 😂 4:55 you are correct it was Sonic and the video for those wondering is Nux Takus game show
as far as i remember hoyoverse never said : " we will give 800 primos to all traveler if we win the awards " and btw the guy on the video (GorTheMovieGod) do a reaction video on it lol
No way, if they didn't give a reward for winning, Genshin players would riot. Also, the devs didn't say, "Vote for us, if we win we'll give you primos," they said AFTER winnning, "Cool, we won, here's an appreciation reward." People didn't know they would get rewarded, although some may have expected it, and boy would they had been pissed if they didn't get rewarded.
The "Genshin summoning 60 million p*dos" thing is kinda dumb cause like i havent seen anything about that really coming from the genshin community. Sonic community on the other hand.....they got Chris Chan
While this is a good explantions of the whole debacle, I don't like that he compared the Sonic fandom to autistic people, as I am autistic & sure people can tell me just laugh it off, but I don't want to have someone else making fun of my disability only I can do that but anyway I like both games & think they're both fine, I obviously didn't play Frontiers, I wanted to but I just never got around to it, but like I said both are greats games idk why the toxic side of the sonic fandom felt the need to get so furious over Genshin being nominated for the game awards again
I'm also autistic and found the 'jokes' (if you can even call it that) to be in pretty poor taste. I could tell even Bran was cringing at the casual ableism
I remember playing genshin and getting so much rewards for winning the vote and the PlayStation. I was like cool, free primogems. I had no idea some things like this was happening.
6:12 - I still love how through all the usual toxic Game Award bs, you just had the Xenoblade Community congratulating themselves on one of their games actually being released at the right time to be included for nomination... Didn't care if we won, just happy to be there in the first place and watched all the other insanity munching Popcorn on the sidelines.
I was part of the community when it was the aniversary thing. While I didn't know anything about the classroom thing just the 2* note on playstore and how luch they were angry. But in this oh god I heard every single thing and laughed so much. I didn't participate bc it was just insanity but it was so funny. The best part is when the sonic fandom actually still believed they could win after taunting and accusing genshin's of using bots. Which is ridiculous bc even without they would horribly lose xD
