There's quite a lot of dark themes in Genshin. Sumeru alone (the newest region) talks a lot about death, forced evolution, conspiracy, and uh... human experimentation. Genshin is a very bright and happy game, but hidden in the world building are hints of Hoyo's ability to write deep and dark stories.

The lore of this game is anything but light and carefree 😂

It's so fun to watch people thinking about genshin very light hearted while people who actually play the game for the story thinking "Can this get any darker". For example: Enkanomia

Genshin is definitely true to Hoyoverse's reputation of starting out bright and happy and then bringing in darkness as you get further into the story. To me, that darkness kind of started when Inazuma came out in 2.0. I remember everyone in the community commenting on how it seemed like almost every quest in Inazuma had something depressing about it. Of course, like Max0r pointed out, a lot of the islands are totally wrecked, so it makes sense. There's a lot of dark stuff if you read the dialogue in side quests that you do or read lore in the items and books and stuff, though. There's also a voice acted quest that gives some insight on a playable character's backstory, and at one point, you're required to read a couple of notes that bring up the topic of... well, making yourself go to the afterlife, to put it lightly. But ever since we got to Sumeru, that darkness has been coming to the forefront even more, not just in the main story, but also in some of the playable characters' personal quests. Which, I do highly recommend, if you start playing Genshin, do the characters' quests and the Interlude Chapter quests too. They're optional, but so many of them are sooo good! I do also recommend not having the dialogue set to auto-play because sometimes when it brings up something you're supposed to read, the characters get stuck talking in the background.

One of the great things about Genshin is that it's very accessible to casually play, you can go at your own pace. It especially works well for working adults who don't want to or can't spend hours a day to grind or keep up with content, as long as you don't worry about any fomo attached to it

Personally cannot wait for 3.6 update to drop. The story we will get together with a new piece of the map is supposed to be connected to one of the darkest backstories we have in Genshin - it is still full with secrets, so I'm definitely looking forward to it. You can say that on the surface, Genshin looks pretty happy since it's colourful and all, but the story is getting really dark after some point, especially some quests and backstories that they won't spoil in the trailers which is why you won't actually see all the dark stuff here.

So glad Baizhu will be playable in 3.6. I've been playing since version 1.1, so I have been waiting for his release for a really long time lol, especially since Baizhu has been around since the very beginning of Genshin. Also, Baizhu says "a bitter pill to swallow" because he is the pharmacist of Bubu Pharmacy.

Liloupar's story alone can easily show you how dark this world of Genshin is

3.6 is about us healing a dragon in a part of the desert where abyssal monsters poured out of, that's what the odd hole with tree like parts was

oh my two sweet summer childs Genshin is not even close to being a cute game you have no idea how many tears fell from me when I least expected it this game pretends to be cute in these trailers but in reality it is very dark and full of tragedies

Also RIP the lights at the end But yeah next would be the character teasers you haven't gotten to and the character's Collected Miscellany videos you mentioned And yeah if you want to experience the story for yourselves you can play the game if you want but know that you've missed out on a lot of events that are pretty big to the overall story, and you would have to do a lot of catch-up to do. If you want to experience the story itself in its full, it might just be better to react to the cutscenes and dialogue, if you have a discord I'm sure someone will make a playlist of all that in chronological order or something, I'm still not that sure of how to fully use discord

I guess it makes sense for not much of the darker tones to be in the trailer as they tend to be very lore focused and therefore spoilers but now things are stacking up to the point even the trailers have to address it xD

I decided to play Genshin, because of your reaction, just while testing network problems I had with streaming a few days ago. Now I keep playing it too much Your new drink is really fun and reminds me of probably my favourite thing in the game. There's a bunch of food recipes and almost every character has a preferred one and they can create a unique version of it. I think I like it so much because it feels more like a fun bonus than just something else to grind for

Genshin definitely has an amazing balance! And I totally get the time investment part, honestly just take as much time as you need

Yes genshin impact miscellany reaction is Good because not only do they show you what the character can do it also in battle they also tell you what personality they have and some of there back story.

there's a lot dark and sad themes in genshin. there's been a couple of times that the game has made me cry (im a bit of a crybaby though) but the LORE is great!! so many unanswered things and so many revelations that kinda blow your mind

Genshin has always had very dark undertones, it really becomes apparent in the 3rd Region, Inazuma.

I love when games have both their goofy and dark moments, and balance they well. That's also why like Honkai impact and even the Yakuza series.

Same company made genshin also made honkai, and honkai impact has a nickname called depression impact, but genshin is a lot lighter, just with a dark tone you don't notice unless you dig into the lore of the world. Also, genshin if you just want to playthrough the main story, it actually about the same length as a regular game.

I would say they are intentionally projecting a happy feeling to the audience because in the story the darker stuff is more hidden away and left for you to find.

You know what... I have some recommendations for you to react, some content creators are doing some "collaborative work" with Hoyovers themself on some occasion(anniversary and birthday fan celebration)... Why don't you watch some of their works as well, even tho it's not hoyo themselves that makes the videos, they have a REALLY GOOD quality. And sorry for my bad English 😅

on the surface it might seems happy-go-lucky, but oh boi does the lore become dark af if you take a look deeper (the sun children who get burned alive is definitely a good example)

Genshin has always had a dark side. It's more 70% dark and 30% light. The trailers show a fraction of what's happening in the game. It started building up ever since version 1.1

The 3.4 "cutscene", where max0r said to not look it up, was just terribly done in the English voice. I wouldn't say it's terrible but it was kinda hard to watch Hu Tao doing the rap very terribly because the VA was trying to sync it with the CN dub.

If you want some darker and incredibly emotional stuff, the teaser "Only Old Memories Remain" was one of the hardest hitting stories in Genshin imo.

Genshin might appear light and cheerful at first glance, but beyond the "main" storyline in the beginning regions, all of the "side quests" (I don't like calling them that since I consider them just as important as the archon quests) are extremely dark and tackle super heavy themes. Even while exploring the map, if you're like me and read every bit of text you come across, the worldbuilding is masterfully done and the lore you can uncover is, again, super dark. I'd love it if you guys started playing the game and saw for yourselves! Please don't let the fandom's negative reputation color your viewpoint of the game itself (especially that Max0r video; believe it or not, not all of us play the game because we're attracted to the characters lol).

both final fantasy 14 and genshin can be played "coop" if you start a trial account you will both be able to play for free (with no time limit) until the end of the first expansion (heaven's wrath) i say until because you wont be able to continue the story but you can still play. you will be able to invite each other (but not trade) to do dungeon, quest and trial. you can play only both of you with the new system of ai companion that will fill the group. in genshin you can explore the world together, do dungeon, boss and i think some quest but not the main quest line.

So some things about the characters, Wanderer is easily my favorite character so far, both in terms of his personality and utility for gameplay. His English voice isn't bad but I do prefer the Japanese dub. It's just more fitting to his character and how he looks, and also I get second hand embarrassment hearing people say things like windblade all the time. So those lines you hear all the time, the only way they get bearable is if they sound good to you and that's my preference. Itto's English voice actor is a good example, since he nailed the character and I switch audio to English for events he's a big part of. The Japanese dub also fits his character but there's a quality to the voice in English. Faruzan's story is fairly sad, like emotionally sad and I found myself liking her character more than I originally did. Haven't done much gameplay wise. Yaoyao is a great healer. The weird little bunny thing throws radishes I guess that damage enemies or heal your character. They target your character if enemies around so long as your health is below 50% but when above will target certain enemies or objects. Her burst will spawn a few more of the bunnies that will appear for a short while, while also healing your entire team. Dehya has been a part of the main story for some time but the greatsword you see in her trailer isn't the weapon she uses during prior cutscenes. I think there might be some reason that is stated in the story quests so I won't go into that. However, plenty of people aren't too happy with her gameplay since she really isn't that great of a pyro character, but someone was able to make her basically unkillable and some of her passive abilities harmed enemies when she low health and auto regens or something, so we'll see. She's being placed into the standard banner. Mika is a good support. Using his crossbow has a passive that increases attack speed for him or other characters you switch to, and his ultimate grants a single health regeneration, mine regens 4000 on the burst, his ultimate. His burst has that little feather float about the character, and there's a chance a crit hit for additional health regen for active character so long as the effect lasts. The sad thing is that Mika sounded normal when he first showed up in an event. Shy or just nervous, but now he sounds like a stereotypical nerd. In the Japanese dub he sounds good which brings me to another point. The music festival cutscene that shows up in the lantern festival, sounds better in most other languages that isn't English. So if you end up watching that I would recommend not watching it in English. There's plenty of videos of it in other languages with English subtitles. Baizhu was met fairly early in the story so some people have been waiting a long time to see him as playable. I don't really remember much about him aside that Qiqi, the zombie girl says she's in better health than him. Kaveh is someone people like making funny little comics and art about being broke, getting locked out of Alhaitham's home, annoying said person with constant chatter/whining. That's all I know since I have been slow in catching up in the story.

It would be nice if you start 3.6 because since Nahida is having a rerun you could get her and after the prologue walk to Sumeru to raise her more. She's definitely one of the most OP characters you can get, and if you miss her, who knows how many months until the next OP character comes or reruns...sure Ganyu that's OP is also rerunning this patch.

And when some forbidden knowledge penetrated into the tree of Irminsul, Dendro Archon the Ruler of Rukhadevat Healed the tree, But Archon herself became a Child, and lost her memories, Another Personality was formed - Nahida,. (Roughly speaking the new Archon). The people of Sumera Country idolized Rukhadevata, but the personality of Nahida in the form of a child, not everyone wanted to accept, and the main scientists of the country locked her in a cage. You need to watch the character teasers to get a better idea of story. I guarantee you it's not all happy. In fact, there is quite a bit of depressing things (there is a reason our partner is the loveable goofball Paimon aka Comedic Relief or as we like to call her, Emergency Food). Characters like Xiao and Wanderer have brutally painful pasts and presents. There will be times in the story when you will feel that rollercoaster. Our main character (The traveler) has many highs and lows throughout the story too. The stakes just get higher and higher. Every answered question leads to two more unanswered ones. Really hope you do end up playing the game. yes it's a lot of grinding and work, but I feel it has been worth it. I've been playing since patch 1.1 and it's a lot of work but also a lot of fun. You can always just play the story quest, the story is long enough for hundreds of episode if you play it 30min-1 hour per episode.
