Genshin Names are Hiding Big Lore in Plain SIght 

I love how almost all things in Genshin are real life references yet we have no idea how the story will go, at all.

It’s interesting that the harbingers only share superficial similarities to their comedia characters. But are opposite to them under the surface. Childe (tartaglia) for example is supposed to be a clumsy buffoon. But Childe is an ultra-competent badass who became the youngest harbinger ever and is constantly getting stronger. Signora, a rampant cheater in the comedia, is so loyal to Rostam that she turns herself into the crimson witch of flames to avenge him, and still loved him all the way till she died. And Capitano, who in the comedia is a braggart with no real strength, is actually the strongest harbinger in Genshin, which many other harbingers have attested to, along with noting how honorable and respectable he is regardless of his power, unlike comedia Capitano. So my guess is that all the harbingers are going to be superficially similar to the comedia counterparts but be completely different otherwise.😊

It's more regarding Aether's name than Lumine's, and it's largely from a different interpretation of Greek mythology than what Genshin usually uses, but in one version, Aether, god of the upper sky, had a twin sister in the form of Hemera, goddess of dawn. Lumine's name isn't as directly tied to a particular figure, but it does have the same Latin root as a very well known figure. One which somehow works out well in different ways whether she's the Abyss sibling _or_ the playable traveler. I expect to see Paimon covered in the same section as her.

I remember when the sumeru archon quest lets you name wanderer. I wanted to give him a name from myths and legends... and boy, that was hard 😅 most of the cool names are already taken by other genshin characters 😊. I wanted to name him something wind-related... and most of the mondstadt characters names were found on that search. Venti and Dvalin for example, but also things like anemo. I ended up naming him 'Aparctias' the wind of the north, or the winter's wind. Because he has the anemo element and the quest in which he was reborn, released in winter. Now I'm hoping they're not using that name for some other character or phenomenon 😅

Aether was the Primordial Greek God of Light and his sister/wife was Hemera Primordial Goddess of Day. Their parents were Erebus Primordial God of Darkness and his sister/wife Nyx the Primordial Goddess of Night. I'm just hoping Genshin doesn't go the incest route or make a convoluted excuse for it being "okay" like them both being Homunculi as was suggested by the test Albedo did on them having similar results to himself.

Aether is a pretty interesting name, since it comes from the verb αἴθω (to burn, to ignite, to kindle), and its cognates in latin are aestas (summer), aestus (heat, fire), aedis (temple, shrine); meanwhile in irish the cogante is aodh (fire); and in sanskrit is supposed to be इन्द्धे *inddhé* (to light, to set on fire). All these words come from the same root: *h₂eydʰ- (“burn; fire”). A scholar whose channel is called Taliesin's Map offers a wonderful explanation that Aether could be one of the primordial airs who give shape to the entire cosmos alongside Chaos.

Maybe you'll talk about him in your next video, but there's the NPC in the Chasm called Taliesen ! For many, it's probably just a name (especially CriticalRole fans-), but it's actually a very important figure in Welsh/Celtic/Arthurian myths. So important in fact, he was said to be Merlin's Mentor. He was the most powerful bard and poet, had knowledge of everything and probably the future too. His story is very weird because he wasn't totally born like that, but he was given the mission to take care of a cauldron that was used to create an extremely powerful potion for a young boy that was so ugly that his mother wanted to gift him knowledge as a compensation. But only three drops could actually give this power and it was a time-sensitive creation and after an accident, the young Taliesen happened to drink those 3 drops, giving him his powers. The mother was deeply unpleased, giving him chase and both changed form, but at some point, as he turned into grains and she ate him, she became pregnant and gave birth to him. She couldn't kill him so she abandonned him and he was adopted by a fisherman/farmer, depending on the version. There's more to his story and how he became such a great poet/bard, but that's the most interesting part imo !

One thing I should note in Relation to Aether, is that though his name CAN mean what is Stated here, one of the Other meanings that's Apparently being ignored here, yet has relevance, is "Nothingness" (Or one might say, the "Abyss")... There's an Expression that goes "Pulled from the Aether", which is Old Timey language for "Pulled out your Ass", to talking or making something out of Nowhere.... Though it's technically Accurate either, as Aether (or Ether) is an Old term for an Invisible Substance that can't be Perceived, Less than Air, yet still is a thing, even if we can't See or touch it in any way... The Closest thing in Modern Science to the concept of "Aether" is what's Called "Dark Matter", Which we can't Directly Detect by any means, but is the term that was given to explain the "Missing Mass" in the universe. We have Specific Calculations for the effects of Gravity and Mass, and how things should move based on those factors, Yet Objects in space Move in ways that suggests that there's more Mass out there that we can't account for... "Dark Matter" is the name given for that Mass that we can't detect, but can see the effects of though it's Gravitational effects on other objects we CAN see... So... Aether's name Technically also means "Dark Matter" or "Nothingness" or "the Abyss"... Food for thought Relating to this Game's Specific Lore... Also note that Aether's Primary Colour on his Outfit is Black... Think about that for a moment...

I just realized that Columbina's description sounds a lot like HSR's Sparkle's personality. Coincidentally, she's also part of a group that calls themselves the Masked *Fools.* Father also says she gives unpredictable answers to questions and Sparkle does the same even about her own character story... Childe also means some sort of high royal knight or maybe a prince knight (i forgot but something to do with a very loyal knight that is close and devoted to a queen) ### I am very invested in a character and i will leave you to guess who it is😋 I believe hoyo was hinting at the character from the very beginning of genshin and i felt the doubling down on it by releasing that character’s TCG card as one of the first ones Other than the character’s lore that only dive in the characteristics, traits, depth(a day of that character’s life type of lores) yet is one of the most mysterious character that we basically know next to nothing about we don’t even know where they came from and i am starting to believe it’s intentional to throw us off by not involving this character making this character having no business in anything outside their ““normal”” life so the longer the player plays and progress further and further where eventually the said character will slip under the radar and eventually gets totally forgotten Even the lore of that character takes dots to be connected and analysis to figure out other stuff like how that said playeble character actually doesn’t use the vision they have (atleast never used it for them self) And its also hinted how the character will take part of “the end” or day of judgment where all hope is lost, where this character will come and be the worlds salvation, the beacon of hope and light in the dark for the rest of teyvat, by someone or two who come up of an extreme hypothetical scenario where the character thought it was exaggerated, dishonest and silly to be viewed in such way which I believe it would be very ironic or the irony of destiny and its kinda the type of cliché that works and manages to come as a surprise everytime Here is another hint: the name of this character is a holy name and it means both Christmas and the day birth of jesus which makes the name alone carry alot of…”weight” (its a hint if you caught the pun, sorry in advance 😅) “I am the first and the last, the beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega” -from the books of revelations Here is an obvious hint i will give so if you are giving up then continue reading: a gentle, humble, noble soul with a heart of gold with a humble dream,a perfectionist with unreal amounts of deeds that keeps on growing by the minute while expecting nothing in return where a simple “thank you” can be more than enough has a feel or an aura of a paladin and fights like an angel of war when the situation calls for it…yet never hurts a fly The character shown to be naturally chivalrous, religious and faithful and the church of favoniuse honors this character with an accessory gift(even though its never mentioned in the lore) The character can be full of surprises and can be considered a bundle of contradictions and have trouble explaining and expressing feelings and thoughts which causes to be miss understood Final hint: its not jean even though they have alot of similarities like sense of duty and hard working and love for the people (though this character works even harder since surpasses jean’s work load unaware nor can help it while keeping personal matters neglected or done for last) (Sorry if this was not,intresting or fun and pain to read, just in case 😅)
