In a sense they are kind of twins but also not really though. Identical twins are created when one fertilised egg (ovum) splits and develops into two babies with exactly the same genetic information. That's essentially what Focalors did but also not really by splitting herself into 2 entities. One is tangible due to the fact that it's the body and spirit (the human counterpart Furina) and the other is non tangible because it's only the divinity without a physical body (Focalors). They are essentially the same (so like twins) but also different because they are incomplete halves of each other (so not like twins)

I mean for them, the one in trial is Furina and they still consider her as their hydro archon, just without the divinity part. So, that plus the shock of hearing the hydro archon get the death sentence, their brains just connected Furina = death sentence and not the hydro archon = the divinity of Focalors = death sentence. Hope this helps hehehe~! :3

@@amary_reactions I mean you already shown several video of how the divinity aspect, Focalor represents the Hydro Archon and considering it came from the Oratrice, not rumours, it doesn't make sense for them to equated the Oratrice's official term to Furina. This is just my opinion. Unless they're not aware of the connection between Focalor and Furina, but you already have several video that clearly explain, or they're just that slow. Sorry if my opinion is bothering you.

@@amary_reactions if anything, shouldn't they theorised that Furina and Focalor shared the position of the Hydro Archon with Furina handling the legal position in Fontaine Court and Focalor represent the divinity aspect similar to Raiden Shogun Makoto and Ei situation which I believe, a situation that Arlechinno should be aware while other remain unaware. I think they should be wondering which 'Hydro Archon' is the Oratrice referring with them leaning towards Focalor cause she hold the divine aspects. Focalor and Furina really 'mirror' each other suffering with Focalor trapped herself inside the Oratrice alone awaiting her own judgement. Personally, I think this is why the dev decided that Focalor appears as "mirror-me" in a mirror instead of some dream or divine realm in front of Furina.

In normal circumstances, I believe that they would be able to notice that and debate about it. However, I believe that this isn’t normal for them so they missed that. After all, they were dragged in a random room to watch videos which unveiled all kinds of truths for them without really giving them much of a break to relax and reorganize themselves so their brains are currently messy with a lot of information. As for Focalors, well, since they never really met her and just learned of her existence in videos, I believe that they don’t really feel much for her. For them, the hydro archon (the title) is separated into two people (Furina and Focalors). However, the two of them are still essentially the same (like one person, two personas if that makes sense) so when the group heard the Oratrice’s verdict of “the hydro archon will be punished via the death sentence” they thought it was mentioning the two of them since for the group, Furina and Focalors share the title of hydro archon. In essence, the group believes that although Furina and Focalors are two different people, they’re still one and the same at the end of the day while sharing the same title of hydro archon so they assumed that the Oratrice is basically dooming both of them to death.
