Just to be completely pretentious, I'll try commenting what I think this video is. So it shows a gal who is running away at first, and she takes out a book the Runaways. That book tells the story of 2 children around I think 14 if I remember correctly running away after they got a fair bit of cash. Then it shows her kind of growing up, and as a social escort with an unfavorable gentleman. Then it follows her life again as an older lady that has grown and is counting her cash. This is in complete opposites of the book Runaways, where they run away for cash, but she runs away to get cash. It flashes back to a younger lady (in a gassy, kinda "silhouette-ish" ) which is badly injured which I assume is to show that despite the gal finally finding her center and making cash, it was not an easy life. So why is Gentlebones driving the car? I am thinking he must have been very involve in her life, perhaps as her friend or someone that knew her, and he was attempting to "drive"/direct or change her life, but he fails because at the end he dies from a lorry collision. Just to be completely pretentious. Please dislike this comment accordingly.
from the lyrics and the video, the people in the car were probably his friends and all this time while all these things were happening to them, he was trying to drive (direct) them to a better place or a right direction and at the final part when he dies, he get caught up in his own problems and cant help himself while trying to help others and dies
the kind of mv that leaves you hanging and thinking about the storyline and also the lyrics of the song. such a job well done both song and mv really love them ♡
Lyrics: You talking teacher, did you know that? Condoned outcome He got the feature, did you see that? Retired referees Sometimes I go alone, thinking ego stems from reason Sentinment too strong, Out of control "Did ya know that she had won?" "Did ya know that he was sixteen?" Then to find that all the farcifies are ripe won't you go, Run tell daddy, who come home You speak of culture but I don't see any, fragment of it left in you Help me help you now or forever come to peace with how you cashed in on your belief "Did ya know that she had won?" "Did ya know that he was sixteen?" Then to find that all the farcifies are right Run Tell Daddy who come home

One of my favorite songs from the album. The MV is cool, I think it depicts women who are in a vulnerable position, yet have no one to rely on. The runaway daughter, the tourist in a foreign country, the social escort by circumstance, the wife in an abusive relationship... and finally the one who witnesses it all - the twilight (uber) driver; who meets a premature death
when you drive a big boxy car, sometimes you will fetch all kinds of interesting people in the backseat. but always wear your safety belts in case of car accidents.
in an article, this videos shows joel driving around town and it tells the story of hardships and the girls were going through as he picked them up from different locations
I think "who'll come home" as in 'who will' come home makes more grammatical sense. Just doesnt sit right with me that he'd let singlish slip into the lyrics
