The episode that has the best line of the entire 3 seasons. “When a judge sentences you to five years in prison, you don’t expect him to move in with you”.

Pure brilliance and timing from the late great Ronnie Barker Richard beckinsale and Fulton McKay there a certain warmth in this scene where great actors make things look so easy

You missed the best bit afterwards: Godber: “Poisonin’? Is that why they call him ‘Arsenic Riggs?” Fletch: “No, that’s because he accidentally sat on a razor blade.”

@stewballmax3 - One of the best comedy series on British television and another example of of the comic genius of Ronnie Barker (Fletcher) box sets still available, I believe. Sadly, the actor, Richard Beckinsale (Lenny Godber) died young. He was the father of the actress Kate Beckinsale.

I love Porridge but they did stretch the bounds of believability when they stuck a judge in a cell with a guy that he'd put away 😆

I used to watch this programme! Sadly, Richard Beckinsdale who played the part of Lennie Godber in the Series, died prematurely at the age of 32. Another favourite programme starring Ronnie Barker was "Open all Hours". Great upload Max, thanks! George

Be more specific. If you're not too busy watching your Enoch Powell playlist, that is.

Three minutes, only three minutes, the timing didn't wane, the laughs came along at the right intervals, professional masters at the top of their game,.. they can't make these kind of comedies anymore.

What a fantastic way to spend the day. Picking clips of classic BBC clips to put on RU-vid. Any chance of giving me a job?

Mackie.......that ' Scot square authority ' figure , wonder what real screws and lags thought of Porridge ?
@scorchx3000
@scorchx3000 Год назад
Their was a documentary about it, the show was very popular with screws and lags, an effective punishment to keep lags in line was threatening them with being banned from watching porridge if they misbehaved. It was quite effective.
