Demon Slayer is a series where not everyone makes it, and one of the saddest losses we see in the whole serious is that of Genya, in the Infinity castle arc we see Genya, Tokito, Sanemi and Gyomei all facing off against Upper Moon 1 because that’s just how powerful the demon us, and if it wasn’t for ALL of them working together they would have lost easily, given that 2 out of the 4 people here lose their lives. As Genya tries to figure out how he can be helpful in this battle of Hashiras, he eats Kokushibo’s blade to gain a huge amount of his power and manages to actually land some significant damage, but Kokushibo spawns blades from all over his body and lets out a massive attack that travels and splits Genya in half right down the middle, but Genya STILL uses Hantengu’s Blood Demon Technique to help his brother by growing ANOTHER tree out of Kokushibo’s body, however when the battle is over the Wind Hashira wakes up screaming and crying as he sees his little brother’s body crumbling away like a demon, thanking Sanemi for being the sweetest brother, in the world.

Fun Fact Genya by eating Kokushibo's hair and blade fragment, was able to enter momentarly into Muzan's mind and spy on his orders and transmited them to Ubuyashikis children changing also the results in Battle.

Even though a lot of characters die in this series, it always feels very powerful and meaningful but also sad, it never once feels grim or nihilistic or throw away, which a LOT of mangakas choose to do, it's either a slaughter fest for shock value(aot) or characters are just brought back anyway (dbz)

AOT is literally based around endless death and suffering. It's not really shock value when it's an integral part of the plot. If so many people didn't die then the titans wouldn't be every much of a threat. 😂

Actually no hashira remained...Giyuu and Sanemi awakens their DS mark so that means they'll die in 1-3 more years, meanwhile Tengen retired so he's not a hashira anymore (but he is still a FORMER hashira)

What made his death so sad was that he paused on every word, saying, "Because... my... big bro... is... the... nicest... person... in... the... world." After that he says, "Thank you, big bro." The fact that he struggled so hard trying to apologize and thanks him. If you read the manga, imagine how he says it, and you will feel the sadness even more.

Last time, Sanemi is my worst hated hashira and genya is my most hated character for his behavior, but when I saw season 3 and saw their flashbacks and how sweet sanemi was, I couldn't hold but make them one of my favorite characters for being that strong and smart in s problem, surprising on how sanemi even screamed for his brother not to die.

Sanemi is a tough mf. He got slash by kokushibo and his organs can fall out and he still managed to fight kokushibo and defeated him and goes to fight Muzan and he still alive after all of that.

He nearly died multiple times in the fight though don’t forget that. No matter how tough he was Kokushibo was too much for him. If it wasn’t for Gyomei, Muichiro and even Genya he would have died too especially in that fight. Because against Muzan he never came close to dying like other hashiras.

I used to think that genya was just a stubborn brat and then when I watched season 3, he became my favorite character. Just seeing genya due was devastating.
