I was at this concert. About the same position as this camera only on the left side. This was the show made me a patron. I signed up at intermission. Stand up comedy shows have never made me laugh as hard as they did this night. Their stagecraft is on par with their current video crafting. And let me tell you, when Geoff dropped on those papa mow mows, we felt it. it literally vibrates your whole rib cage. I particularly love the moment here where Geoff cracks himself up. They do have a recorded version, but as far as I know it’s only available as a MP3 download for the patreons. And it’s not close to this arrangement. Also: this was their opening song. So this was their idea of a warm up. It got better after this. And yeah, Geoff is still ripped. And yes, he hit that note in pure falsetto. Listen close at the end for him to slide back down out of it. He was talking about live performances and how vital it was for them not to drift out of key at one point and used this song as an example. He said if this one drifted up half a step, he’s not getting the last note. As a side note, the amount of charisma these boys have in person is just off the charts. It’s unbelievable how likable they all are, and how good they are at making you feel like you’re a friend even when you’re meeting them for the first time. Not gonna lie: I was completely seduced by the end of the evening. I don’t think I could have turned any of them away. I don’t even want to know what Cesar is capable in person; they make me feel seduced through a damn camera.
Geoff has countless qualities and talents that we can only contemplate, and always being in great shape is just one of them.🙌 This man is a sight for sore eyes.😍😍😍😍😍
People generally know this one from Home Free featuring The Oak Ridge Boys but maybe not everyone knows that it was VP and Geoff who arranged it for Home Free, along with Tim.
Well, I believe Geoff arranged it for VP, as it was part of their act during the sing-off tour. Then Tim asked for it, and after making some tweaks, the HF version came to life. 😍
Geoff has 4 octaves while Tim has 5, and VP and Homefree have a friendly sing-off vibe, but often share talent with each other…arranging, for instance. Tim and Geoff have a sort of tally….how many amps they blow with their deep notes😂.
Yup! Tim thanks Geoff specifically at the end of the Home Free ft. The Oaks Elvira video saying, "A big shoutout to Geoff Castellucci for an incredible arrangement."
I'm not sure to what extent you realised just how much more impressive the fact that this was live makes it. For their studio recordings, they theoretically have the opportunity to go for lots of things that they're not "really" able to do, but through doing repeated takes they could fluke it out (which doesn't inherently diminish the impressiveness of it, it's just a different kind of impressive). But everything in this video, all the solo tricks, and also the quite complex harmonies in the background, have to all be things they're confident they can nail literally 100% of the time, under the pressure and otherwise strange conditions of a live performance.
I’m pretty sure the video of Geoff doing pull-ups for his birthday is floating around here somewhere. He is definitely still in shape 😂 Elvira was VoicePlay’s arrangement before they handed it off to Home Free, and I’m a little sad they didn’t do a recording for it; they only performed it live. Geoff shushing Earl is my favorite part 😄
Excuse me!!!! You can't just come in here and destroy my day by sending me down the rabbit hole of hunting for this!!! Back in 12 hours when I find it...
D. You’re welcome ☺️ m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o0puiPBcES0.html&pp=ygUfR2VvZmYgY2FzdGVsbHVjY2kgZG9pbmcgcHVsbHVwcw%3D%3D Repeat after me Kathy is a lucky lady
I'm so glad that you reacted to this exact live performance. Geoff shushing on Earl and then stroking his beard is just hilarious, and yes is Geoff is still in great shape, actually his arms might be more so because when he did Sixteen Tons he wrote in the descriptionbox that he was working on his spaghetti arms.
Yes he us still in great shape. I think it might now be just tradition when you're a professional and on tour to see if you can make your friends crack up.
A good live video to see how high geoff can go is the cover of grace kelly by mika he did with the group toxic audio. The high he hits in that always blows my mind 🤯
Or the new mini Peaches. I believe that he hit his highest note ever. I can’t remember what Jennifer Glatzhofer said it was but it was high! One of his clones goes pretty high on the one that’s coming out soon as well.
I had never seen this one before, so thank you rula for making it your request! Loved this, geoff is just a freak of nature in the best way possible, honestly don't think there's anything that man can't do 😂 💜🦌 #DJantlers #DJsHerd
How have I missed this? I'd love this as a Halloween special, full costumes. Maybe Cesar can pull off Earl's high part. We know he has the sass and range. Can you imagine Geoff pressing his finger to Cesar's lips to silence him? Oh gawd I'm cackling just imagining it!
I think that this is my favorite recorded live performance that I have seen, it is just so good and it makes me happy every time I watch it. Geoff is literally so talented, I question if he is actually human every day because of his talent. The note that he hits at the end is crazy, I am blown away by it every time. Thank you for the great reaction as always friend💜
Awesome reaction as always DJ. I heard Elvira a long time ago. Voiceplay is working on their new video for June. It should be released soon. Geoff Castellucci just posted his new video on his Patreon yesterday, Monday. He is bringing back his 4 dwarves from Far Over The Misty Mountain Cold video. It's is absolutely beautiful. Just wait until you hear them. Each has a solo in this. He is premiering it on RU-vid June 9th.
You really need to watch The Chicken Song. Its another cellphone video but really shows off their comical side. There's actually two versions you need to watch. First is the full version; the second is missing the first little bit, but it has Paul (he is from one of the other groups that was touring with them can't remember which one right now); he took Tony's place because Tony got stuck at an airport and couldn't make the show. Aftet that please consider watching Season of Love cover by RJ Rafael ft Voiceplay
I've created a playlist of Voiceplay Live for myself. Even though there is only one piece that is professionally recorded, they are all so much fun to watch! Be prepared for Geoff and Voiceplay's releases in a week or two!
I love this video. Makes me laugh everytime.. There is another recording similar to this where a member of the audience calls out to Geoff and stops him in his tracks before replying. So funny... Those guys seem to have so. much fun. 😂
You need to check out the newest mini that isn't as short as most mini's. You will hear Geoff singing high, very high. Check it out. Peaches (Bowser, Mario, Luigi, & Toad) - VoicePlay Mini (acapella)
Brilliant choice as always Rula. Thank you for a fantastic reaction DJ. Knew you would love it. VP live are always so much fun. Cannot wait to see you react to The Chicken Song soon too. I do hope VP can go back to touring again soon as I would love to see them perform live. Sending love to DJ and the Herd #DJsHerd #DJantlers
I watched the VoicePlay Appreciation Project today and saw you in it! That whole thing was a wonderful tribute to VoicePlay. I want to know how Mortius got Cesar's shirt! A recommendation for you to check out - A Crimpella. You will sit there saying "What am I seeing?" That is Geoff's A5! It is his high note.
Periodically VoicePlay holds an auction, available to their Patrons only, where they offer up costumes and props. They donate the proceeds to various charities like hurricane relief, feeding kids, and music programs at schools. Mortius had the winning bid for Cesar's shirt. Watch the tribute video again, and you might spot Geoff's shirt from Good 4 U.
You really need to check out their live version of We Don't Talk About Bruno. Disney liked their version so much, they invited them to perform it live at an event and it was pretty awesome!
Geoff didn't need to hit the high notes when Earl was still with the group, but he can. (Have you seen their new mini, Peaches?) And do comedy while he's at it, like in the Toxic Audio clip of Grace Kelly where Geoff was filling in for their bass. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sA0Gp6SmfSg.html The venue was supposed to give them sturdy chairs for this bit but gave them plastic patio chairs instead. Paul from Toxic Audio (dark hair) filled in for Tony in one of VP's concerts. There's a recording floating around YT of Paul as the waitress in the Chicken Song. From the clips I've seen, VP used Elvira as one of their finale songs. There are several variations of the shenanigans between Geoff and Earl, but it's always Geoff hitting the high note at the end. Tim Foust has said HF liked VP's version, Geoff gave them permission to use his arrangement, Tim tweaked it for HF, and now HF uses it as one of their opening songs, without the comedy. There is a studio version of VP doing Elvira -- audio only, and only available on their Patreon. DJ, it was so fun to hear and see you participate in the Sing It Together tribute video. Well done, sir!
@@dj_410 it really is. I only live about 10 hours drive from Orlando so I would definitely make that happen if they were still doing live shows. Hopefully they'll go back to it some day.
Because you (& all of you) are an artist, & ppl need to respect that artists change & evolve over the years. I have never seen a law written down that a capella bands can't do both a capella & instrumental music. You know I love you like you were one of my own kids. I am so proud of you for your strong faith, your kind & loving heart & for your dedication to your music career. On top of all that, you are incredibly humble. God bless you!!! 💜🙏
I saw The Oak Ridge Boys in concert many years ago. Their bass (Richard Sterban) was danged impressive, too. Love this version as well and really want to see Voiceplay live at some point!
Geoff's range (in the studio, with multiple takes and such) runs at least up to A5. Some of the other guys can go higher than that. For reference, if you have a grand staff for traditional amateur SATB choir, the lines on the bass staff are G2 B2 D3 F3 A3, middle C is C4, and the lines on the treble staff are E4 G4 B4 D5 F5. (Octaves traditionally start at C, probably because C major is the most traditional and most common key in Western music.) So that makes A5 the first ledger line above the top of the treble staff; there are amateur sopranos who struggle with it. (Serious professional sopranos and countertenors should be able to hit at least up to "high C", i.e., C6, and many of them can go higher than that; though going much above E6 or so, is pretty elite territory. There *are* people who can hit well up into octave 7, but at that point you're not so much singing as squeaking. It doesn't sound good.)
Great reaction! 👍Thought that last bit by Geoff would do you in! He has an amazing vocal range. Listen to some of his solo stuff when there are 4 Geoff's on camera - each one singing a different level - and you'll realise how high he can get! It seems quite a few of the bass guys have a ridiculously wide range. Not only Geoff but Tim, the Bass Gang boys, Colm McGuiness, JoYo can all go from subterranean to the stars vocally.
(One of the) Geoffs goes pretty high (and it is SO pretty!) in the one that just came out on Patreon. Of course he goes really low too. It reminds me of the gravelly Geoff in Valhalla (but not scary).
@@janetdw I don't do Patreon so I'll just have to wait for that to come out here on RU-vid 😔but yes his high notes can be so beautiful. I love gravelly, rock god Geoff as well and would love to see more of that - although him doing "Peaches" was bit scary! 😂
I love this one, I just wish we had more recordings of VoicePlay shows with professional AV recording, like _Road_ _Trip;_ especially since it's highly unlikely I'll ever get to see actually them live. I was waiting for your reaction to a few different moments in this one, you didn't disappoint!
My favorite Jeff high notes are in Enemy & the new quasi-short Peaches. In Enermy a lot of people miss it or think it is AleXA but it is Geoff. She comes in on an even higher note than his. You should react to them both if you haven't yet.
Geoff has an unbelievable range, check out Peaches to hear him hit the rafters. It's a very short song, so maybe team it up with two or three other shorts! And yes, Geoff is pretty serious when it comes to his workouts.
When Voiceplay gets a 5th member to be able to tour again, wouldn't it be killer if Home Free and VoicePlay toured together? Home Free do a segment, then VoicePlay then all together?
