Welcome to Runway 37 where I share my experience as a student pilot. Join me for my first solo circuit with Top Fun Aviation at Greenside (YGSD) in Perth, Western Australia. Flying this circuit was a thrill and re-watching this raw footage brings me joy every time.

Congrats on the solo. What a freedom you have now!

Fantastic video and well done. I have been learning to fly up here in Darwin and the instructor just got a J170. I flew it for the first time today. The old plane unfortunately got written off by a pilot on his first solo, landed nose wheel first.

Thanks! All the best with your learning. How did you enjoy the Jab? What was the old plane?

Congratulations Geoff. Nice light touch on the controls you have there. That's something I need to work on. I passed my test flight in a Jabiru 160 last weekend, and got the paperwork yesterday. The airfield I fly from in Gippsland Victoria has a RH circuit direction on 09 as well, but no grumpy neighbours on upwind. Cheers.

Congratulations on passing your flight test Phil! Will you be going for endorsements straight away? I've been enjoying the solo time and finally have enough hours to go for pax.

@@runway3736 Thanks. Yeah, I have the same plan. About 4 more solo hours and I can go for the pax endorsement. Then, I will probably do cross country.

Firstly, congratulation on this milestone flight Geoff. As they say, it's always appreciated if you bring the aircraft back in a condition that it can be used again. For someone that lives in the city of Sydney seeing all that open space, it's difficult to believe that someone would complain of the aircraft noise a little Jabiru makes. However circuit training will become a little less frequent as time rolls by. Good luck with the rest of your training. I note that this flight was about 9mths ago, so possibly you have your RAA certificate by now.

Thanks Alan! Your guess is correct and I now have my RAA certificate however still yet to do pax and x-country endorsements. I had plans to post more of my training but ended up trying to focus more on the learning than the filming.
