Good job!! Im an Azeri who grew up in NY and learning about Azeri geography from this fun video helped me appreciate my roots more. Politics crap aside, every country has its story and a beautiful side. So thank you very much for this video! Looking forward to learning about other countries!!
I think he pointed out the most important parts and everything was correct AFAIK. You can't mention everything in a 10 minute video. I'm not an Azeri though. I'm from Turkey. So maybe my knowledge is not complete. I will have to wait a couple of years when he reaches letter T so that I can comment with more authority. :)
This was a very interesting video, and thank you, Paul, for uploading it and teaching us. I had no idea Azerbaijan was so interesting. I'm just looking forward to when Geography Now gets to Georgia.
I think Paul does a great job of sharing really quite interesting information about the geography and history of countries. He does it in a tentative, unbiased way which is refreshing. I think you guys in the comments need to chill a little. Yes I understand different nations don't get along but at the end of the day, each one of us are human. Born and raised on different areas of land- that's the difference. If only you in the comments could see how you are getting nowhere but spreading hate and potentially putting the talented Paul off making any more videos in the future. Keep going Paul, you're awesome :D
Hey Paul I would like to say thank you for posting these videos because I am going to the North Carolina state geography bee this year and some of your videos helped me a lot when it came to studying countries diplomatic relations, demographic, etc.
Very informative video, I cannot wait for the next one. Being that I am from Florida, The Bahamas is my "next door neighbor," and I love visiting there. :)
Hello, I am Greek, and I am trying to study Azerbaijani and Bulgarian. Can anyone give me some tips for learning Azerbaijani quick? Anyways nice video. Even though Armenians are my brothers, I notice Azerbaijan having a good amount of tourist in Greece and they are nice people.
Actually, Turkish people and Azerbaijani people have the same origin. In 16th century, there have been a huge fight between Ottoman Empire and Safavids. Azerbaijani people are the descendants of Safavids mostly. Actually, modern Iran was also descendants of Safavids. And the only difference between Ottoman society and Safavid society was Ottoman people were Sunni and Safavid people were Shia. Safavids are the descendants of Seljuks also. And this is why they have an Seljuk star in the middle of their flag. Turkey also has that flag but in a different formation. The Seljuk people who came to Anatolia in the middle of 11th century builded the Sunni -mostly orthodox and civil (I mean who lives in cities mostly) way of Islam. And they founded Anatolian Seljuks. Ottoman flag, has the same crescent and Seljuk star. It is only Turkey that has it in a different form. Azerbaijan and Turkey actually have always been enemies for six or seven centuries. They are only friends for a century. And ironically founders of Azerbaijani state were panturkist Ottoman officers. And the relations between modern Turkey and modern Azebaijan kind of strange. Azerbaijani government is kind of pro-Russian and have some issues with Turkey. Because Turkey have organised an unsuccessful military coup in Azerbaijan. And the biggest problem is, Turkey wants to open the border and customs with Armenia. And Azerbaijan is really mad about this issue. And also, Azerbaijan does not recognize the de-facto state of Turkish Norhern Cyprus. And yes, they have oil. And yes, they sell it cheaper to Turkey. And yes, Azerbaijan watches our TV-series and we support them in Eurovision. But Armenia is also cool I think. It's really enlightening to learn about the tensions between the Armenians and Azerbaijanis from this video and the comment section. It prompts me to look around even more!
Thank you for this great Video! But only 9 Million Azerbaijanis are living in Azerbaijan, but they are over 20 Million Azerbaijanis who are living in Iran. :)
AWESOME VIDEO!. Pual, i am 100% sure that you are gonna become big like cpg grey or wonderwhy someday, and i will be proud to be a early viewer of yours :). Keep making awesome content!
I have a question: As I know, Azerbaijan does not allows the entrance of Armenians or people who have visited Armenia before to the country. However, Armenia does not forbid Azerbaijanis to enter the country. If an Azerbaijani visits Armenia, then it means that person can't enter his own country?
Dude you are rock. Perfect uploads. Thanks for the video about Azerbaijan it is cool, respect. P.S Armenians and Azerbaijanis make love not war. Greetings from Azerbaijan
It would be perfect that you also mention sth about Southern Azerbaijan that is inside today's "iran". We are 35 million ppl living in iran and we are Azerbaijanian !
Great video, I learned alot about Azerbaijans geography from this video. I understand its difficult to discuss the historical geography without mentioning the wars related to how some borders came to.
Interesting video :) i guess i need to wait a year probably till you post a video of my country, Indonesia hahah. We're also a secular country with a Muslim majority. Azerbajian seems like a nice place, i further watched videos of the city, Baku and i can say that city looks very neat.
You are back! NEVER do that again, we care for you! WE NEED YOU! You are the proof knowledge is still alive. So don't you ever stop uploading videos. The world needs you. Your fans need you. I need you.
Paul, I'm again going to say I very much like how you deal with all the different sorts of conflicts. You mention them but don't focus on them, and by sticking to facts and staying neutral on them I think you're handling it very professionally. Never shy away from subjects or to be too "politically correct" about it just because there might be some people on either side that will give you shit for it. Great job and keep up the hard work! :D
Why do Armenians and Azeris waste so much breath arguing with each other? The Caucasus region is small enough as it is, why would you want to squander what potential this does have into sustaining a feud which only enables corruption, autocracy and cronyism in both countries? Sure, you can do what you learned in school, go through each others histories, and see how each other is different but so much more out of it is lost by emphasizing those differences and ignoring the similarities.
Hi, its so complicated issue even majority of our people and armenians don't understand. Caucasus region is small but rich enough with natural resources that other big countries like Russia wants to control that region. Peace in that region actually doesn't fit with the policy of those big countries. That is why there are a lot of problems between these 2 counties.
Lol you forgot to talk about the Turks(Azaris) in Iran... PS those Turks in Iran have very different views from where they come from than Turks from turkey and Azerbaijan.
Pretty sure he will talk about that in his video about Iran. But we (Iranian people) love each other and doesn't matter whether we are Turks, lurs, bakhtiaries, kurds, Persian(fars) or etc.😉
Yeah I mean, it's technically true, but the building of religious institutions of anything that isn't Islamic typically go through a long process of red tape for approval, many times getting denied, It's kind of sad
Sahin Quliyev Christians have met some hostility...Thankfully police interrogations and brief imprisonments are the worst I've heard them having to endure. Hopefully as the country continues to develop more churches will be able to operate openly.
"In the world of geographic sociology a lot of things sound like other things but they aren't exactly the same thing as those things." Idk why but that always cracks me up. Love your channel
I think people should cut paul a brake, for once and appreciate the time he makes to make these great educational videos. Geography Now do not give in to the critique on controversial conflicts and keep doing this amazing well done job. I hope you will go far with this, my friend is a teacher and she said this would be a great way to get kids hooked on history and my for one I love to study foreign countries but eventually reading a cite on Wikipedia my brain turns into squash. Lol get up the good work Paul.
Paul bro! :D I seriously respect you and I respect how you are not some pro-whatever guy (IDK if you get what I mean) I especially respect how you cooperate with the natives before uploading videos about their nation which is amazing and which everyone should do :D God bless, take care and rock on!!!!!!!!!! (even I am a geog freak :D)
Great video! Obviously, they get better and better with each episode. Although I do feel sorry that you have to withstand all the people starting arguments in the comment section, as if it was your job to decide who's right or wrong in all the world's conflicts.
great video as always.btw my country(belgium)is not that far down the list so i'll be sure to send you some pictures and usefull information.keep up the good work, man.
