So basically: Bhutan succeded in every ecological goal Europeans have tried to accomplish. They heavily support education. They have a monarch which _can_ be kept in check. They have freedom of speech. _Guys, Bhutan is miles ahead of us._

I live in India near the border of Phoentsholing. It's nice when I can go for breakfast to Bhutan and be back in my room before lunch. Brings a little spice to life.

As an Indian, who has been to Bhutan quite often, I wanted to make some additional points. (i) The Indian currency Rupee is freely accepted in Bhutan (Currency: Ngultrum) where 1 Rupee = 1 Ngultrum (ii) The Indian language Hindi is quite well understood by majority of the nationals as most of the people do pursue their higher studies in India (iii) Correction: The Indian counterpart of the Phuntsholing entry point was pronounced as JALGAON (which means Water Village) but actually it is JAIGAON (which means victory village). The map showed correctly though :-) (iv) Geographically, Bhutan only has 2% arable land which is concentrated in the Terai plains region which borders India, where generally rice is cultivated Note: And yes , the queen might really be the most beautiful monarch in the world right now. Oh yeah , the food is very spicy and I am saying that as an Indian :-)

Lhotsampas are not exiled in India, India refused to give Lhosampa hindu asylum, India put them into trucks and put them inside Nepal border. They lived in refugee camp in south eastern Nepal. Now many are taken for resettlement by US, Canada, Australia, etc

Honestly that tourism tariff is pretty brilliant. By integrating accommodations with passage into the country and charging them directly, cultivate a decently inviting destination for tourists without the problem of foreign-operated resorts sending the tourism money right back out of the country, as well as encouraging tourists to leave the hotel/resort area with the built in tour guides.

Any attack on Bhutan will be seen as a direct attack on India, Indian troops has executed several counter-insurgence operations in Bhutan against China in the past. But things are stable now as India and China have very responsible relationship now.

I really admire Bhutan's legacy when it comes to preserving and protecting their nature and natural wonders. I really like how they treat mother nature and tries very hard to avoid damaging/polluting things to the environment. As a Bengali indian I went to Bhutan on a school trip and it wasn't even a part of our trip, we were in Alipur Duar and the guide were like “Wanna go to the neighbouring country real quick??” ,they didn't even ask for a government document just our school id did the job, and honestly loved the place and the people, really looking forward to visiting again

I visited Bhutan and Nepal a few years ago. You do have to have a tour guide but it was only during certain times or if you want to go somewhere. It was great. You have free time in the morning and at night

Admittedly there was no technology back then (just maps, blackboards, textbooks and boring lectures). I admire what you are doing because you do it so well.
