The ORIGINAL kingpin of the Hispanic world. #SPAIN. Thank you so much to Ana and José for helping out in this video. Also BEFORE YOU ASK, we made the "Autonomies of Spain" video a while ago (Check it out!) which is why we don't cover each region in this video as it would take too long. Either way, hope you enjoy!

Greetins from Theologos. Greece is quite nice, I´m visiting your country now and people from this area is quite similar from spanish people. Mediterranea sea, and the sun makes a very similar caracter🙂👍
Spain and Portugal are the best brothers ever, despite their pasts but have a great history. I really liked this video, explains practically everything about culture, history, art, politics Geography demographics of Spain🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸 I am Portuguese but I really like Spain and I hope to visit one day!🇵🇹
@@Ericson-vk6bx AHAHAH! Remember that even in Spain, different language groups prefer different countries also. To the North, more English. To the Southwest, more Portugal. To the South, more Middle East-like. To the Southeast, more French. To the Northeast, more Germanic. And some others who are more like Slavic.
@@charleyjr.iriarte7428 Eeeeh, no. It usually is about Portugal and Italy, maybe France, though we don't like them much. The rest of them... no. We all speak a Latin language and have Latin culture, the Basques speak a non-indoeuropean language also spoken in France.
Fun fact; most Spaghetti Western movies were filmed in Spain since even though they were Italian movies, Spain has the dry locations that look like the American Southwest

I'm from Ireland and some of us from the far west have Spanish blood that comes from shipwrecked Armada sailors that washed up on the rocks, or plucked out and assimilated. Their stories are part of our local folklore.
The story is nice, but it's not very realsitic. However, Ireland and Spain have ties that go way back in history, sure you've heard about the Book of Invasions. Due to the leyendary Spanish origin of Irish Clan's leading families, Irish were considered Spaniards the very second they arrived in Spanish territory.
@@goodaimshield1115 Right. Some time ago Irish people were considered as "the Spaniards of the North" in Spain, with right to live and settle in Spain.
I think the story about spanish Armada is beautiful, but isn't correct. It's probably more plausible common Celtic ancestors or immigrations. I'm southern spaniard and When I did a DNA test I had results 21% Celtic (Irish/scottish/Welsch).
FUN FACT: There is a Plaza de Espana in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, built as a memorial for Spanish soldiers that have died during a civil war here in the 90s
Spain is my most favorite country in Europe. Probably because they share their culture and cuisine with us, and now this makes us unique in any other country in Asia. They introduce Christmas, and now we celebrate the longest Christmas season in the world. LOL. And they never forget the Philippines, just recently they donated half-million of Moderna vaccines, and I read that the Philippines is the only Asian country, who recieved donation from Spain. Love from The Philippines 🇵🇭 Long Live Spain🇪🇸 🇵🇭♥️🇪🇸
@@eldon6054 There's this small movement to restore Spanish in the Philippines. I also want to include Spanish in our highschool Senior High School and College Curriculum
@StatiControl As a Spanish person, I've always thought Spanish and Portuguese people were family, but the Portuguese that seem to be more opposed to it always seem to talk about the Iberian Union. kinda stupid how proud we can feel just from how powerful the country we were born in was 500 years ago, I often feel it, but is still stupid nonetheless.
@@eduardofidalgo7022 I'm a Spaniard too but I think when people talk about the Iberian Union thing it feels more like an annexation of Portugal rather than a real union and so the Portuguese just don't wanna be a part of that, specially when looking at the issues we already have with the different nations within Spain
@@nfdk2336 regardless of that, who tf cares about what some people did 500 years ago, most Spanish and Portuguese people share the same ancestors if you go back 500 years, and regardless of that, one should not judge a given nation for what the given nation's past monarchs did.
As a Frenchman, I feel like we often get forgotten in the Latin conversation. To be fair, our cultural identity has always had strong Germanic and Celtic influence. Even our language is hardly intelligible to other Latins. Kind of the same deal with Romanian lol
@@PinkGoldPeach23105 totally agree, I've been in Brazil a couple of times and I think it's the most unsafest place on earth. Portugal on the other hand is like Spain, one of the most safest places on earth. fact.

Actually when we're kids we get taught to draw the iberian peninsula as if it were a face, eyes mouth and nose being in Portugal of course! That's why it looks so natural
Well in Portugal we learn that Portugal is the face of Europeu and Spain is the hair...we have a love/hate relationship.😬 They can't live without our bank privileges and we can't live without their affordable gas prices, we have similar celebrations but different lifestyles. Spaniards are too patriotic they understand us but they just don't like to put in the effort, whereas we are far mor hospitable. Don't get it wrong... we hate each other but we can't live apart !😂
HI! I'm from Tenerife, fun fact, the silbido gomero was developed because La Gomera is an island with a lot of steep valleys and crevasses so people needed a way to speak with eachother without having to walk up/down hill so they started whitling.
As an Italian, I never felt more at home than talking with a group of Spanish people. We are basically cousins who meet up on family functions and always have fun together
Spain is like that one sibling that is so cheerful and puts a smile on everyone’s faces at the family reunion, even the goth sibling Romania. Greetings from Romania 🇷🇴❤️🇪🇸
Spanish siblings are Portugal and Italy. Greece is kind of normal cousin. And Romanian would be the weird one, like gypo or something. And Moldova is Communist version of Rom
@@Cris-hd1wb even as a Mexican i would recognize Romanian as a sibling from Spain, for sure not the closet, but hey. They are the cool uncle that preferred to do something different as the rest of the family XD
Yes as a Spaniard I LOVE goth Romania, I would love to visit, always cheering for the underdog, y’all are our family as well, even if a little weird haha love 💖
maaan such a shame they didn't include greece along with Italy in the friendzone section, literally every spaniard puts Greece at the same level of Italy, maybe only the language separating us more with you than with Italy. Love greece from Spain!
@@Ambitwine I think it's because most Spaniards barely come in contact with Greeks compared to Italians. Out of the three Northern Mediterranean peninsulas, the Italian is in the center, while the Balkan is to the east, and the Iberian is to the west. This gives Italy the advantage of being the geographic center of the Mediterranean, hence why it would have more contact and ties with other Mediterranean civilizations than Spain. Greece and Southern Italy are especially very tied because of the Greco-Roman heritage since Magna Graecia, not to mention a lot of Southern Italians have some Greek DNA. Spain was definitely a lot further from Greece, hence why the diluted sense of familiarity.
Whenever I hear someone talking in Spanish I heal confused for a sec because it sound SO SIMILAR to greek! Much love from Greece! Una faccia una razza 🇪🇦🇮🇹🇬🇷❤
Yeahh I'm spansh and I had a greek flatmate in Estonia. When she was watching I was like "Why is she watching the spanish tv??" until I realized it was actually greek.
As a Spanish I laughed so hard when you were speaking about friendly countries, first and most I said "well if I can choose a country which I really think it's our brother outside Portugal, it will be Italy", then you talked about others and finally Italy comes to scene XD Love you Italy, greetings from Spain to our Latin brother!! viva España y forza Italia!
Spain and Italy, OMG, that's so true. We are crazy for each other. But as a Galician, I must say that I have the same feelings for portuguese people. At the final of the day, we're family.
I love spain. Spain is my 2nd home. I’m not half spanish or even a tiny bit spanish, but in total i have spent a month every year of my life in spain. So it feels like home
Actually, only Seat Ibiza, Seat Leon and Seat Arona are made in Spain. Seat Alhambra is made in Portugal, Seat Mii is made in Slovakia, Seat Tarraco is made in Germany and Seat Ateca is made in the Czech Republic. On the other hand, some non-Spanish brand cars are made in Spain such VW Polo, VW T-Roc, Opel Corsa, Opel Crossland, Audi A1, Renault Megane, Renault Kadjar, Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008, Peugeot Partner, Citroën C4, Citroën C-Elysee, Citroën Berlingo, Ford Galaxy, Ford S-Max, Ford Mondeo and Ford Kuga. @@HannoversSoap love to Germany from Spain, it has always mindblowned me that our countries were "united" once, under Charles I of Spain and V of Germany, and include Austria and the Netherlands in that mix too!
I’ll be enrolling Spanish language class offered by Instituto Cervantes of Manila. ❤️ I think without Spain, the concept of The Philippines won’t be what it is today, we might have ended up being different island nations.
The Spanish language remained official here until 1980's where it was demoted as a recognized language. Clearly, Spain, our corrupt politicians already know their more favorite parent.
Spain is like a small continent, diverse from the cultural, natural, geographical, and political viewpoints, but at the same time wrapped by a common “Spanish” essence that make our country so unique and interesting. Hope we could open soon again so that you all can come and enjoy!
Fun Fact: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly was filmed in Spain, and the graveyard scene was a Spain’s civil war graveyard. Which does mean that the grave they dug up was a real grave. Which is not such a fun fact.
Urban legend. It was a fake graveyard, made up by "hired" soldiers of the Spanish army, and they undone it afterwards. Years later it become so popular tourist sport that it was build up again. In any case, no people was buried there. Think seriously, do you think we got a graveyard so big just there, abandoned?

But can any Mediterranean food truly top a hearty Halushki or Bigos stew (not from Poland but have heavy Polish heritage) ? Can there ever be any real winners in the food wars?
Spain invented molotov coctail but Finns named it as Molotov cocktail. It's quite funny story how it got the name. There was also Molotovs bread basket, wich is napalm

Friendzone 🇪🇸🇮🇹🇵🇹🇬🇷🇮🇪 As a Spaniard I can assure you that our friendzone is actually pretty vast and twisted. I have really missed countries like Greece 🇬🇷 (they're cousins, maybe not as close as Italy, but still part of our southern family, and for us family is FAMILY💞) in fact, our accents are really similar, we both are extremely passionate countries, and we love visiting each other; or maybe Ireland 🇮🇪 (they're like us but in a northern european version: friendly, nice, fun and loud -while partying), we also have many historical and cultural bonds (including folklore and legends), especially if we talk about territories like Galicia, Asturias or the Basque Country. There are also many other connections that have deepened our relationship like the maritime trade (especially with Galway, with its Spanish Arch💚), the Black Irish or the Spanish Armada.

23:47 "Bullfight dates all the way back to Roman times". *_Shows a pic of Minoan Greek bull-leaping_* 31:58 "Roman empire connection" *_Shows Greek scripts on a rock_*
For the Basques of yesteryear, bulls were sacred animals and guardians of divinity. I'm not going to say 100% sure that they had no contact with Greeks or Phoenicians, but it was a geographically remote and very isolated region.
@@joseluisfernandez6592 It's not only about the historical geography but also physical geography, geographical policy. Historical geography is just a small part of the content video.
Fun fact: that fresco shown at 23:47 when Art was talking about how the bullfighting goes back to the Roman times is actually Minoan. This is how we are calling a civilisation centred on the modern Greek island of Crete, that predates even Ancient Greece let alone Rome.
I lived in Spain for a year. I miss it so much. The food, the people, the climate. They really are the nicest people I have ever met. Much love from the UK💓 🇪🇸
Occitan (Aranese) is also a co-official language of Spain. It's official in the whole territory of Catalonia, even though it's just spoken in a small region called Val d'Aran. Silbo gomero isn't a language, but a code. That means you can "whistle" in Spanish, English, French... it's just a way to turn spoken sounds into whistles.
As an Occitan Frenchman, I find it sad to see that Catalonia respects and preserves the Occitan language way more than we ever have. The French republic was built on an idea of extreme uniformity, and that translates through our terribly exclusionary language policy that has eradicated almost any language that was historically spoken on the mainland.
