27, -9, 3, -1, 1 over 3, another way of knowing that the common ratio is 1/3 is by looking at the last 2 given terms, -1 the last whole number becoming 1/3, would mean that the common ratio is only able to take away 2/3 therefore the common ratio is 1/3, this is easier in my opinion unless they ask you to do the calculation and write it down.
