Beautiful work, a lot of time and patience. I took inspiration on your project and I am presently doing a table top with a mosaic of wood off cuts I have. Five different types of wood: walnut, hard maple, cherry, amarillo and cumaru. All pieces are 1½" inch wide and random lengths from 2" to 9¾". I have more than 125 pieces and I have spent hours preparing them, I admire your patience. The final result is to be admired for many years, congratulations to you!
What was that final can of spray paint you used on this final piece? And also where did you find that humongous clamp?! Seems like you made it with a huge pipe and the sliding clamps just lock into place? Did you make a tutorial on those?! I LOVE THE FINAL PIECE WOW! BIG LOVE!
The final spray is some polyurethane in a can. The clamp is a 10’ pipe with pipe clamps attached. They are 3/4” pipes and the clamps can be found at your local tool stores. I don’t use them often but on a piece this big they came in clutch.
So I just painted even amounts of blocks different colors and did a dry run first to get a feel for the lay out. We knew we wanted it to fade so we just did our best as we glued them in place.
