So here's vast waters.
It’s been quite a journey these past two years and I don’t really know how to begin writing this description.
Let’s start here: This is my new serious solo level. I started building it on August 26th, 2022, and it’s been in the works on and off since then. Each part of the level is inspired by a video game that I like. I’ll let you figure out which video games correspond to each part. I was going for a bit more of a serious/dark tone/theme compared to it back, and I think I pulled it off.
It feels fantastic to finally finish this level after so long. To keep things brief, the sheer amount of drama and vitriol surrounding it back gradually pushed me away from this game and its community as a whole, to the point where it has mostly stopped being fun to beat levels, create levels, or livestream. Which is why, with the release of this level, I'm probably stepping away from Geometry Dash. I'm sure I won't permanently be gone, but right now I can't see myself making or beating anything else with regard to my current attitude. I could write a whole bunch more about my feelings regarding this game, the community, & 2.2, and maybe one day I will. But I’d like to keep this description relatively short.
Let’s talk about zami, the artist behind the level’s song. I have to admit I haven’t heard much of their other work, but some tracks of theirs have already found their way into Geometry Dash. I stumbled across this one from searching the Newgrounds audio portal for anything related to Spelunky 2. They usually make breakcore, drum and bass, & house, but sometimes dip into video game music as well. An artist worth keeping an eye on, I think. Check them out here:
