I won a prize singing this song on a campus festival stage, when I was 20, a sophomore at SNU, the most privileged university in Korea. Now, as a 68 yrs old lady, it's a great pleasure to find this song by accudent! Thnx a lot.
I am Indonesian. When I was a little in the early 1980s, I watched television. I heard this song and I see people were doing mass aerobic session. I remember this until today because this song is beautiful in my ears.
When the sun shines on the mountains And the night is on the run It's a new day, it's a new way And I fly up to the sun I can feel the morning sunlight I can smell the new-mown hay I can hear God's voice is calling On my golden skylight way Una paloma blanca I'm just a bird in the sky Una paloma blanca Over the mountains, I fly No one can take my freedom away Once I had my share of losing Once they locked me on a chain Yes, they tried to break my power Oh, I still can feel the pain Una paloma blanca I'm just a bird in the sky Una paloma blanca Over the mountains, I fly Yes, no one can take my freedom away Yes, no one can take my freedom away When the sun shines on the mountain And the night is on the run It's a new day, it's a new way And I fly up to the sun Una paloma blanca I'm just a bird in the sky Una paloma blanca Over the mountains, I fly No one can take my freedom away Ooh-ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh-ooh

Used to have a vinyl with this song back in my childhood, I would play it over and over.. Today is the first time I listen to it again after some 50 years. Memory lane, here I come!
I had the 45 of this,wore that record out!Great song& memories.Nice Gold top!So THAT'S why I learned to play the bass incorrectly!😡(picking w thumb)But I corrected it early on.
yeah this song knocked Abba back to 2nd and won The GB group the Euro sound contest. Abba came back the next year 1974 and blew everyone out of the water, the rest is history!
When I was a kid, I love this song so much but never knew the name of it, but thought that this was a Neil Diamond song and went through many albums. Waiting to hear this, over 20 years later, I come across this song and realize it was George Baker.
Una Paloma Blanca When the sun shines on the mountain And the night is on the run It's a new day It's a new way And I fly up to the sun I can feel the morning sunlight I can smell the new-born hay I can hear God's voice is calling For my golden sky light way Refrein : Una paloma blanca I'm just a bird in the sky Una paloma blanca Over the mountains I fly No one can take my freedom away Once I had my share of losing For they locked me on a chain Yes they tried to break my power Oh I still can feel the pain Una paloma blanca (R)
I was in the army, stationed at Katterbach, Germany, when this tune came out. I loved it then just like I still love it today. Roll on, George Baker- Mucho Respect!!!
En los 70 yo tenía 12 años y andaba tarareando esta melodia por las polvorientas calles de mi barrio Callao peru Brincando por las calles pantalón con parches y descalzo era muy feliz como hasta ahora gracias a esa hermosa melodia
Omg. I had this song stuck in my head since i was a child for over 30 years. RU-vid search is amazing.. I just whistled it into the voice search and this video popped up!!! Technology is amazing...
This is the first english song I ever learnt. It was in 1976 at St Xavier's High School in Mumbai during our music class in primary section. We practiced singing this song in chorus for the annual function.
When I was a newborn baby, my Dad picked me up and held me close to him and danced to this song with me. As I grew, when ever he played this song he and I would dance together. He taught me how to dance, I used to dance on top of his feet until I got the hang of it. After a while I learned to polka with him. When I got married, the only logical song we could possibly dance to during the Father/Daughter dance was this one. It meant more to me bouncing around the dance floor with my father in my wedding gown with my train all folded up in my arms than swaying to a slow song about growing up and leaving home ever would have. Now that my father has passed on, I cherish this song even more. Thanks for posting it!
This was a big hit in the UK with the Jonathan King cover version in1975 [although I see the original version also got to No 10] and was even parodied by a comedy pop group The Wurzels as 'I'm Just a Cider Drinker'. For songs that touch the soul, have you heard Cris Williamson's 1975 'Song of the Soul' which I heard for the first time in 2020 in the final episode of the TV series Mrs America or 'The Ballad of Birmingham' song version of the poem by Dudley Randal which I heard on James Baldwin's film 'I am Not Your Negro' when it was repeated on TV a few months ago [I did not pay much attention to it the first time the film was on TV]. Both are on RU-vid.
I just remembered the beautiful song by Donovan 'Brother Son, Sister Moon - from the eponymous 1972 film directed by Franco Zefirelli about Francis of Assissi which I first heard around 2007. It is especially moving with the film scene where Francis discovers the old ruined church. Then there is the Rod McKuen song from the 1973 film The Borrowers sung by Shelby Flint [her version is available on RU-vid as is McKuen's] which is sung when the little 'borrower' girl Arriety sees the outside world, nature, trees etc. for the first time [the whole film is on RU-vid]. I was struck by the beauty of this song when I say the film in 2013.
THIS SONG IS TOP FOR ME. MY FAVORITE SINGERS. I'M 75 AND LOVES THIS OLD SONG. THIS MUSIC BRINGS ME BACK IN MY YOUNGER DAYS. GREAT SONGS, GREAT MEMORIES. GREETINGS FROM BULGARIA 🇧🇬
I got to thinking about this song yesterday and googled it. Boom here I am! 1975, my it doesn’t seem possible. I graduated high in 74. Where does time go? Such a simpler time. This song just takes me right back, all the wild fashions. You’ll have to google those too. 😊
This came up on my Facebook Feed just now...oh my goodness! Really takes me back. I was 8 when this song came out....I'm now in my early 50's. Such a simple song but I really love it....loved it as a child, love it now :-)
I was 7 years when I heard this song. Never knew the name of the song. I was searching for this singers and randomly came across this beautiful song. Just love it. It's so amazing
I was a young teenager when this was new , always enjoyed it ! My stepfather was a pilot , he LOVED it ! He passed away a few years ago at the age of 86 + , I was PRIVILEGED to call him DAD for almost 53 years !!!!
So Happy reminiscing the 70"s. ahhh...we were young by then. nothing could take its place♥ So proud too for that guitarist with GB...Am sure he"s Asian like me!!!
This song is in my song diary and when my music teacher sang that song it was very peaceful and the way you sang this song is in an active manner both are perfect but this hits different.😊😊😊😊 I am 10 years old and I love this song. It's not a song it's an emotion. Whenever I feel sad or ignored or boring then I sing this song. It makes me feel refreshing.😊😊😊😊 I love your song keep singing like this.😊😊😊😊
THE NUMBER WILL ALWAYS BRING THE GOOD OLD GOOSEBUMPS DAYS !!! THE LYRICS AND THE SWEET MELODY OF THE SONG SO SIMPLE AND EARTHY THAT IT TOUCHES THE HEART !!!!!!!!!!!!! ONE DOESN'T ALWAYS HAVE TO BE A HEAVY ROCKER LIKE JIMMY PAGE OR RITCHIE BLACKMORE [ WITH DUE RESPECT TO BOTH AS THEY'RE MY FAV. TOO ! ] TO COMPOSE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL MUSICAL PIECE. THANKS FOR UPLOADING.
The first time I listened to this song was 1977 in HK ( Hong Kong )! At that time, I even didn’t know the song and the band names ! 🙂. However, it is one of many 70s iconic songs in my opinion.
80's was the best decade for pop music, it was culmination of fantastic seventies... the spirit began to fade in 90's. Today, the air is polluted with anti-music filth...
