My first concert without my parents I was 16. I ran up the bleachers to where George was walking to the stage to get a glimpse of him. He gave me the biggest most beautiful smile I will never forget! I loved his music I listened endlessly as a teen ❤️
After losing the Comedy for a year in Montreal, hope fully and heartfelt The Jazz fest does not take the same road...ugh...one year? Too long to handle...😢
@@greatunz67 You don't anything about me. What I have done or what I am going to do. You neighsayers are a dime a dozen. You neighsayers only project your ignorance. You have never played with anyone. I most definitely have. You probably have ties to The Inbred Hoover Family.
@@newphone4474 Yup, it was so much fun. Santana and Rob Thomas are really great people. I served in multiple foreign wars to earn such though. It really wasn't worth incurring the permanent injuries I have to my feet and legs just to play with those two though! The Navy refuses to pay me at this point. Nobody should serve in The US Military.
Wow. Just peak musicianship. Goosebumps. Clearly unrehearsed and interesting how they took a little while to figure the interaction, then just tore it up when they did. Carlos looking for the line, George giving him room, then magic. Wow.
Santana è come il vento del deserto, come la brezza della sera in un calda giornata d'estate. Come i colori di un tramonto infuocato. La sua è una musica eterna che ti fa accendere immagini, luoghi, persone e profumi.
George Benson is a true master musician. At no time whatsoever is he ever trying to "outdo" Carlos Santana, despite having more than enough technical superiority to do so. Instead so, he is fully supportive of Carlos's playing, leaving lots of space for him to shine. Likewise, Carlos is humble yet comfortable enough in his own playing to do what he does, together with a bonafide jazz legend.
Ugh, technical superiority? 70s Santana was technical as fuck. Maybe you meant that Benson has more varied vocabulary than Santana thanks to his jazz upbringing...
Both great players but George is on another level from Santana.. watch some of his playing from from the late sixties and Also the late 80’s with earl klugh live, his playing is mind blowing..
2 guitar legends on the stage together is a once in a lifetime occasion!!! The goal of the guitar player is no doubt greatly inspired by viewing this classic clip!!!!
This music and George Bensons Breezin album got me playing the drums after over 20 years without that joy, this is pure musicianship at its finest. Both drummer and bassist are possibly my favourite too. Just fantastic at feeling music.
No matter what guitar he's played over the years, Santana has always had that very easily recognizable signature sound. I guess tone really is in the fingers.
Love both .....but Carlos takes this song to a higher level as he always does ,he is a master of feel and simply is outstanding in this duet,Benson was great butin aww of Carlos.
omer kishanov so true. Carlos plays so melodic so beautiful and his sound os so astonishing. Makes Benson sound puny and weak. Benson knows this deep inside.
Carlos played violin for a half dozen years in Mexico in his father's bands. A very melodic and underrated guitarist. George started out as a child singer before he ever picked up a guitar. Two of the most inspirational musicians I can think of. They make this Gabor Szabo song work very well.
wow- glad I found this- as both of these guys are legends. I wish music today was even close to being this good. Thank god we still have access to music from the 70's forward.
Carlos is all signature tone, sound and feel. His notes, his licks are beautiful beyond description. No one cares who the better guitar player is on a technical level ... Carlos Santana alone has touched more people and sold more records, sold out more arenas than George Benson ever has, not to take anything away from the great GB. But it's all about the music not the guitar playing.
the whole idea of guys playing together, for the joy of it, without the egos, is what made these times the best in music history. just having fun together, & playing their asses off. what more can you ask for??
to the haters: Shhh, they are playing music, trading licks and having fun! I would LOVE a tv show in 2015 that had LIVE music with great guitarists crossing genres! Who cares "they dont mix well", "not a good pairing." Shush, 40 years later, you have something to say to a guy that played WOODSTOCK and one of the best jazz musicians on the planet! ugh...
There are few times when you have the opportunity to listen something real magnificent, (no offense for all my favorites musicians), but this makes me recall Charlie Parker and Miles Davis sessions.

I played that very guitar! In 1976, I demonstrated and played Carlos Santana's guitar at the NAMM Convention in Chicago's McCormick Place BEFORE Carlos took delivery of it! There was a second guitar I played also which had a black ebony finish on it. Both of his guitars had mother of pearl inlays of Sri Chimnoy, his spiritual teacher then.
