George Carlin dropped truth bombs every time he spoke. Sorely missed! This bit is from his 1990 stand up titled "Doin' it Again". If you wanna do another one from the same time period, try 1992's "Jammin' in New York". I think its even better than this one from 1990 (my opinion).
What’s great about the routine, aside from his deft use of language to point out a central characteristic of Americans-we avoid reality by lying to ourselves and others-is the feeling of persecution and anger as our use of language has evolved. Those feelings now dominate public discourse.
“You know this soft language makes me want to vomit…well maybe not vomit, it makes me want to engage in a involuntary personal protein spill.”😂 R.I.P. George
As a 22yr old who has lived through the worst period of this happening to language I still use all the language people were using in the 70s and when I have kids I'm gonna do my best to make sure they do the same . No reason to change the way you speak to make people you don't care about feel more comfortable
I don't think I've mentioned how much I enjoy the variety on your channel. I love music, so my favorite reactions are music reactions. It's awesome to see what others think of my favorite groups and artists. (Especially if they like them.) But you other reactions are great too. I'm not as sporty as you guys, so some of the sports reactions I pass on. But I like the comedy ones also. I'd like to recommend one that I haven't seen any reactor do yet. Brian Regan. I'd recommend "Emergency Room". If you like that one, then you'll like the rest of his stuff. He's a clean comic and super funny. Thanks for the content. p.s. I saw you were on vacation recently hope you had a nice trip. p.s.s (lol) In-regards-to Carlin, his Airline bit is awesome too.
Ok. I’ve really grown to like you two. Wasn’t sure at first, honestly, just thought you were another run of the mill “reaction channel “. Lol. But you are cute and charming and yes… you don’t pause and stop every 15 seconds to analyze everything. Bravo
Another great bit from Carlin is “Our Similarities”. It’s more lighthearted than a lot of his other stuff. Another one on the same order is “Flying/Airlines”
Addiction and medicine in/outpatient program, AKA rehab. Yes I was in the U.S. Army. The largest gang (and group of functioning alcoholics) in the world uses the softest of language.
That's why it keeps getting worse. The societal problem being described never improves, so whatever term we use for it gets associated with all those negative things just the previous word did. I wish I knew who said this, but: Today's euphemism is tomorrow's slur. Or we could just all finally realize that listening to and bowing to the will of our most brittle and sensitive leads to a weak and ineffective society.
Really hoping you'll check out Tim Minchin. An australian comedian known for his musical comedy. He is brilliant. I suggest Prejudice or perhaps Lullaby.
Hey ... just Subscribed to your Channel - Love your Reactions .. could You REACT to 2 of George Carlin's Standup 1. List of People Who Ought to be Killed - 2. Flying.❓️ Keep them coming, I'll Keep watching. Regards.. 🍻
Anything between 80 and 96 is great. After that his wife died and his material became attack. Some of it was still good but not the entire set. At least imo
Midgets can't be called midgets anymore. It's not politically correct. You have to call them Dwarfs now, like we're living in Lord of the Rings or something. Personally, I think the word dwarf seems even more degrading and insulting than the word midget, but that's just me.
Carlin taught me how to think outside the box when I was a child. His career began back in the 50s, but he REALLY hit his stride during the "counter culture" part of the 1960s. I can ONLY imagine what he would think of the dumb shit this country has done since his death. Hell, even his widow can't really articulate it. I have her as a friend on Facebook.
I don't think you have touched his earlier stuff. He was on TV in the late 1950s. He used to do skits and I would suggest "the hippy dippy weatherman". Totally different but still funny.
A MUST HEAR comedian,, John Pinette (R.I.P.🙏❤️)...TRUST ME!!..He Had the ability to laugh at himself,, not take the world too seriously & a good/kind man.
Lots of people seem to think that Carlin's routines reflect an "anti-woke" point of view. As opposed to promoting freedom of expression... which is not the same thing. The George Carlin routine that those who see him as an "anti-woke" comedic "icon" never reference his "Abortion and the Sanctity of Life" routine. Hmm, wonder why... could it be only some kinds of free speech are acceptable? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M-bLf4F0PM4.html
Our Response at 9:40 There is so much more to be Said as we do not want to make this Comment too long but it is Important to Address this Complex Issue that has been Neglected for far too long. It is time for our Education System to change and for the rights of Regular Ed Students to be protected and not be labeled as "Learning Disabled" due to fraudulent legislation. Thank you for taking the time to read our response.
Carlin released a new 2-hour set roughly every 2 years from about 1988 until his death. And he was very prolific even before that. So it's really hard to pinpoint things beyond albums or specials.
LOVE the reaction!! :) ♥ Thank you!!! Old stuff,,,,,,,, but interesting... :) “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13
My all time favorite Carlin bit is from this Era called Flying on the airlines. He took the bit of "pre-board" off this and turned it into a 15-20 minute bit on the airlines.
Love the reaction you two! You're in my top 5 reaction channels when comes to couples. May i suggest George Carlin War on Homelessness. It's just like this one, laughing and learning at the same time. Love you 2. Wishing you both nothing but peace, love and respect. Not necessarily in that order. Which ever you need the most is the one I'm pulling for ya. Later!
Actually shellshock IS NOT PTSD….so…..yea, there’s THAT. If anyone would actually LOOK at the disorder they called shellshock ….yea you can clearly see that…..AND there’s plenty on YT. But don’t wanna get in the way of…..the truth and all that.
From this period "Abortion And The Sanctity Of Life" is a must watch. Make sure it's the entire 15 minute plus version and not one of the abbreviated 10 minute ones. That's always disappointing, too much valuable content is missed. So well thought out and funny as hell. A must watch. "Flying On The Airlines" Hilarious but again make sure it's not an abbreviated one. "A List Of People Who Ought To Be Killed" just the title should pique your interest, hilarious. "Some Cultural Issues" if you haven't done it, I can't remember. These are all from that time period. These are all outstanding but the first one is killer. One from a little later but hilarious is "Advertising And BS" and "The Ten Commandments" Great stuff. Hope to see these, you can't go wrong with any of these and again, the "Abortion And The Sanctity Of Life" is just killer. Peace ❤❤
It's fascinating to me to watch young people react to common sense being spoken by someone, since it's clearly not something with which they're familiar. I've never simply followed the herd, as do the vast majority of the population, and I can tell you that's not easy, but that characteristic is, at least in part, attributable to George. I am, however, developing a conspiracy theory about why You Tube is not filling in my words and phrases before I finish typing them. Hmm, did they get sued for copyright infringement of my mind?
As a talking point, I think the most important part of this bit to examine is 'Israeli murderers are called commandoes. Arab commandoes are called terrorists.' When the exact word can mean different things depending on who you're talking about, how can you trust the words you speak to convey the message you intend? Especially since it's apparently the 'in' thing anymore for words to mean whatever we want them to, full stop.
