An HD score-video of one of the most popular works of classical music ever written, finally as originally heard at the New York premiere with Paul Whiteman's jazz band and Gershwin himself at the piano.
There are a few discrepancies between the score and the recording:
- At [insert timestamp], the recording skips two bars.
- Random bars in the piano part are altered slightly. I assume this is just the soloist improvising.
- In addition to oboe, clarinet, and bass clarinet, Reed 1 originally played Eb sopranino saxophone (*not* Eb clarinet) and Eb alto saxophone. I can't tell what instruments the performer is playing in this recording (leave a comment if you can tell!)
Once I get my hands on the critical edition of the score, I'll let you know which of these were typos and which were real edits. Stay tuned...
