As one of you very astute people already mentioned…if you are a true lover of talent…then you’ll understand this is not just a simple song…it’s an absolute masterpiece!!!!
I am 68 and I have to say that people in our age group have grown up with some of the greatest musicians playing some of the greatest music in history.
@@ScottEtheShotE...I can understand your comment. But I have the lyric video up. I get a sense of either/or. It could be to either of his wives, or it could be an inspirational song too. I guess one would have to know the Beatles in order to really know what they were saying in their music. I grew up listening to them as a group as well as their solo works. Geniuses, all of them.
I was 14 years old when this song was released in Feb. 1971. George Harrison was an incredible song writer. This song really makes you think about life and where we fit in in relation to God
George, being the quiet one, had so much potential. With two souls like McCartney and Lennon in the band it would be hard to get a listen. That's why whenever he started his solo career he was truly amazing and brilliant, i guess once someone has something bottled up for a long time, you could expect a big explosion in the long run. And what an impact he made on music history.
Justin Deaton Ringo made a bit of an impact himself, but Paul and (particularly) John had the biggest personalities. John was just huge, because he wasn't the "pretty boy" Paul was. Together they made history, separately they did well also. Does it get any better than that?
Too great a talent to have been relegated to just 1 or 2 songs per album as he was getting with the Beatles. John and Paul witnessed how great a song writer George was becoming and he was stockpiling songs that needed life. Even if the Beatles had stayed together, I believe, George would have left so he could share all, not some, of what he was gifted with. In a way, I'm thankful the Beatles did break up.
@@suzycreamcheesez4371 My post is not meant to be funny. What you got was a misinterpretation.🤣 I recently discovered skateboarding, and it has done more good to me than George Harrison. 🛹 What a time to be alive!
+Rob Trust The sign of true musical talent! Not a lot of musicians pull that off well, Paul and John always sound so dated to Me, but George and to an extent Ringo still sound great. I think for Ringo it's his sense of humor too.
I'm gonna have this song played at my funeral, I love my family so much, we are not rich financially, but we have love, and I have family, you can't ask for much more!! I have been blessed!! This song says it all!! I miss you George!!!
George is my favorite. Use to be John until I realized how many songs were made and have been sung by George. What an amazing band! Great time to grow up, 4th grade but still it was a great time to be alive.
mister miami sorry for your loss but that's an awesome song to dedicate to your wife she would have loved it if I get mushy every time I hear that George Harrison song he was my favorite Beatle
Well when you cut the budget so that schools don't have musical instruments or even music teachers, then of course we'd get a lot of the so-called music of today. But it's not really anyone's fault. This world isn't the same place it was 47 years ago . They have different social forces today than we did back then so of course Art and Music would be expressed differently. The music is only a reflection of the what's inside them based on our personal perspective of our experiences. I think George was immersed in peace and love and knew what they truly are. It seems that a lot of people's interpretation of love today certainly isn't his. Peace to them is silencing those they don't understand or agree with. There is music like this as well as love out there and in you, search for it, it will find you. Maybe you're the one we'll be listening to you. Peace.
Exactly! What is life without love? An empty dark place, with no family or friends to love you. A cold and lonely world. So thank you George for giving us this message to give love and respect to others and especially to our selves! May you rest in peace and be loved forever, and forever is a long time.
What could anyone say about George Harrison that hasn't already been said!!! What and excellent musician, person, and inspiration to us all !!! RIP GEORGE HARRISON🙏✌
Without a doubt, theirs only 1 George Harrison, and his legacy will last forever, RIP George, your singing and music still today is enjoyed by millions and always will be.
What George Harrison song does NOT put you in a good mood. Love his music and always will. In a world of craziness there is still the centering spirit of George. We will always love you forever.
We played this song in marching band. I was on the snare line, but the trumpets were right on the money. The glockenspiels were doing the melody George was singing. We had triples and quads sets as well. It was very emotional for all of us to play.
My life was so influenced by the Beatles.Good times and memories come rushing back when I hear their music. All 4 were musical genius's in their own rite.I'm so glad to have lived in the era of truly great artist.
+Frank M Naa. Listen to Lennon's solo material, the stuff he did while in the Plastic Ono Band. Not many liked Ono or the idea of listening to anything with her on it, but Lennon did some of his best work during this time, the last of his life btw. In Harrison's "All those years ago" how both were really great pals, who both offered something much more than mere music, is made plain. Overlooked to this day by some, both made their greatest contributions during their solo careers. Harrison was able to go much further, and likely had some musically game-changing ideas and plans in mind (possibly even for the industry) that never came to fruition seeing how fate had other plans.
id say yes, and no. Dream by john Lennon is a great song. Also no where man, dr Robert are cool songs by jojn! I love I want to tell you, its all to much by George a lot as well!
@@George_D777 I agree with the latter part of your post; "Taxman" is a great example of this. It was written by George as a protest against the taxation of the Beatles' royalties on theis albums and songs, which at that time was over 90% of that income. And that taxation, btw, is part of the reason Lennon moved to the US permanently after Nixon resigned. As far as solo work, I think both John and George REALLY came into their own after the breakup
Está canción me hace sentir feliz !! Que grande George ... Nos dejaste en cada canción paz , amor , luz ,humildad ... Todo el reconocimiento a ti en algun lugar del astral ....
This song is a masterpiece! ❤ You think of that special someone, what is life, without you. Sad thought but not sad with such joyous music. You are just paying tribute that they are in your life
He is here, forever, with us. I 'get' that. If he were here on Earth, I probably couldn't touch him, as he would have bodyguards all around him.. I never met him. Yet, here I am. Thank God he left his music behind, when he went on his final journey from us. That does not mean that I don't miss him, and it does not mean I will stop playing 'Here Comes The Sun', every spring of my life.
I sooooooooo hav-ta correct Albert when he ventures into Philosophy. "Only" is only an "Only." What is my life without MY love - tell me who am I without ME deep inside.
monica burgess John Lennon was once asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world - Lennon replied "Ringo's not even the best drummer in the Beatles"... How bad must poor Pete Best have been?
Of course he changed the world. Him, along with other fabulous artists, have enriched the lives of countless people over the years, myself included. We're all part of this world and his excellence gave a little more enjoyment and love to the people. Everything has an impact, everything changes the world.
I REMEMBERED LISTING TO THIS SONG ON THE RADIO WAY BACK WHEN IT CAME OUT, I WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD BUT LEFT AN IMPRESSION ON ME FOR ALL THESE YEARS, ITS THE OLDEST SONG I HAVE GREAT MEMORIES OF.
wow george you was the best songwriter ,singer, musician and human being out of all the beatlesl and went on to even better after the beatles forming the super group the travelling wilberrys i wonder how great it would have been to have had graham bonnet in there as well rip george
What is my life without you. Yes we DO need people in our lives and we cannot exist without them. But to put out a great song like this to the person who he wrote it for and thinking about that woman is just indescribable. Man, I just wish I had his vision and ability to write songs like this.
I heard this video a week ago. It reminded me of 1971, when I was in love for the 1st time in my life! I had prayed for a Juliet and God blessed me with her! We just enjoyed each other, and this song depicts the the joy that we felt at that time! As I said, George is a popular name in my wife’s family! Tomorrow, we will be married for 47 years!
Short n sweet: George was the spiritual heart of the Beatles. For me, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” is the classic of classics when it was played at the R&RHOF with Prince.
I heard this song over the weekend. It reminded me of the joy that I felt dating my first girlfriend, who is now my wife of 47 years! I was back in 1971, remembering how lucky I was! The lyrics are perfect and express that that I am nothing without my love and my wife by my side! George Harrison: RIP!
Who are these 600+ lost souls that don't like this song. I have to respect their right to make assholes of themselves by saying they don't enjoy the record but I don't relish the idea that they'd have to expose themselves in public.
I'm 63 now. This song was recorded on 1970. I was 11years old. But i remember this great song like it was Yesterday. Bring me back good and some sad memories.
for me he was my favorite of all four 'he was not commercial , he was a great composer that left to soon rest in peace mr harrison and thank you so much for all that wonderful music .
This song is so amazing in so many ways. The lyrics are classic. The guitars are great. The horns are stunning in their richness and complexity. The strings at the end are so good. The vocals are wonderful. A classic song in every sense of the word.
this song vividly reminds me of laying in the grass, summer/autumn of 1970 as a very happy & contented 6 y.o., about to turn 7 and very pleased to be hanging out with MUCH older siblings & their friends with all of this great music all around me. b/t/w did I mention it is a VERY HAPPY MEMORY!
I read somewhere that George wrote this song during a 10 minute cab ride. He sat in the back and wrote the lyrics on a scratch piece of paper. That is talent! RIP, George. We miss you.
15 YEARS AGO TODAY, THE ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH. REST IN PEACE, MY FAVORITE BEETLE. A SPIRITUAL MAN WHO GOT ME THROUGH HARD TIMES IN MY LIFE. MUCH LOVE AND APPRECIATION. GREAT JOB ON SOUND AND VIDEO. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND TAKE CARE!!
really great job putting all the pics together AND lyrics on the page.. So great to see "my" old friend with his wife and son! and of course the song is such an uplifter. Thanks so much !
