I'm from the USA, and I have to admit, the UK is easily #1 as far as great musical acts. I made a list years ago & it was HUGE... and I still missed a bunch.
@@samj928 I don't think so. Apart from Bob Marley name me any big international artists from Jamaica that have hit the pop charts. Shaggy and Sean Paul are only artists that last around 2 years only sell singles not albums then disappear. Besides most Jamaican music is Reggae or dancehall only 2 genres The UK has produced bigger acts in almost every single decade.
George Michael was in my opinion one of the most underrated singer of his time, His vocal range was brilliant as was his emotional timing within his songs.
Absolutely!!!! Side note..... I met him one night for just a literal minute and he was little. I was shocked. That huge voice coming from that small body. So talented. Such a loss .
George was the only artist that could sing a Queen song in the same key Freddie did at Freddie’s memorial concert. It was a pretty phenomenal performance actually and well worth watching. He did a version of somebody to love. I’m a bit of a Freddie purist (though like Adam Lambert), but George Michael was a rare talent like Freddie. Oh, and flamboyant.... you need to watch more. George could be INCREDIBLY camp! 70’s & 80’s music is awesome.
If memory serves he wrote the first draft at 15 years old and the producer he was with begged him to record it and he said it wasn't right yet. How in the hell does a 15-17 year old have that kind of soul?!
Man, nobody uses the saxophone anymore in songs. So much saxophone in the 80's. It has that sexy, steamy night in the city sound to it. So nostalgic. George Michael was such a major heartthrob back then, women went totally nuts for him. Now probably most younger people have never heard of him.
I miss George Michael’s music so much and wish he was still here. He had so much soul and talent. Please check out the following songs from George Michael which I love: One More Try, Kissing a Fool, Tonight, Father Figure, Spinning the Wheel, Faith, and Freedom 90.
Yeah George Michael he was he he is a sad story with him I wish she was still around still around singing way did he was he was here's a big talents for sure I like this song with Elton John him and Elton Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me and of course Careless Whisper and father figure out like I mean George could sing a great singer singing a song and still be good
Oh I love George! (RIP) watch him sing Somebody to Love at Freddie's tribute concert 💙 He was the best that night imo. And it's especially poignant because during that time he had his boyfriend (Anselmo) in the crowd watching and they were awaiting results to find out if Anselmo had AIDS and if so, George might have been ill too. Turns out sadly his partner tested positive and he died not too long after from complications due to his illness. George Michael was an amazing singer and a lovely person. He died on Christmas Day 2016. Man, that feels like yesterday 😢
Jeepster Peepster George was amazing at Freddie’s tribute concert, He was the only singer with the vocal range to possibly be able to fill Freddie’s boots I remember thinking that at the time .
So wonderful to see the host of this video discovering George Michael's music! What is extraordinary about George was his evolution as an artist, and that he wrote, produced, arranged his songs and played many of the back up instruments. He performed amazing duets. Here are my favs: WHAM Rap, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, Love is in Need of Love with Stevie Wonder, I'm Your Man, I knew You Were Waiting for Me with Arthea Franklin, Father Figure, Monkey, Kissing a Fool, Cowboys and Angels,Too Funky, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me with Elton John, Somebody to Love, Jesus to a Child, Brother Can You Spare Me a Dime, As with Mary J. Blige, Living for the City with Stevie Wonder, Outside, Flawless, and Fantasy featuring Niles Rogers. #faith #freedom #nextgen
It's so nice to hear you feel the same way. In fact, I've said the same in many other reactions. Don't you feel, you just want to put out their, just how marvelous he was & still is! Thanks again!
You have to have to listen to his entire catalog. The man was beyond brilliant. His contemporaries all called him one of the best songwriters of all time. He really does sit up there with Lennon and McCartney Stevie Wonder Michael Jackson in his ability to write the most amazing lyrics. He has a massive fanbase in the UK and in Europe it's just a shame the US missed out on a lot of his music after the Faith album was released. For those who don't know George wrote entire songs down to composing the music totally in his head. He never or rarely wrote anything down on paper until he was ready to go into the studio and record. I believe he had an identic memory and therefore those songs he said rolled around in his head sometimes for years. Who does that?!?!?! Some of his later work like spinning the whee,l fast love etc.. show this man was capable of writing a seductive Jazzy number, could deliver R&B like nobody else and of course right sugary pop songs. He had many Duets with some pretty famous people and even had one with astrud Gilberto which he sang completely in Portuguese. Take the time and listen you'll be hooked forever.
He was a true genius, brilliant and beautiful. And was a friend of Freddie Mercury and Elton John I believe. He was similar to Freddie, struggled with his sexuality, and was the son of immigrants to the UK 🇬🇧. In his case Greek 🇬🇷-He started off in a singing group before going solo. Sadly he passed a few years ago
George Michael had an ear for melody and harmony. His version of "Somebody to Love" in 1992 at the Queen tribute to Freddie was outstanding. Suggested reactions: Stevie Wonder and Sam Cooke, both giants of their time.
I wouldnt say flamboyant... more clean cut.. man on fire!!!!! The most talented song writer singer musician ever. Love your reaction. Theres no age limit. His music his timeless!
17 when he written this and 19 in this video, great talent."one more try"80s "waiting for that day"90s for reaction please, an amazing song by him. so many good george michael songs to react to keep up the great reactions "forward to a 100 k" .peace brother ; )
Ooh more George Michael please! Praying for Time and Jesus to a Child. Oh, and Father Figure! My favourites. Oh and Cowboys and Angels! Pffff I can go on and on with great GM songs 😁
I,ve been around since the 60s. It would be a shame if the younger generations do not take the time to check out all the great music put out before them.
George was so powerful in his writing and his voice . Nobody has this still now ! And this sax line is just amazing !! Careless whisper is the first jewel Of all his songs
In 1984 I just turned 14 when this song was released and the saxophone music was in my head for months 😂. I did not mind because this remains one of my favorite pieces of music ever 😊
George Michael is one of the most underestimated artists ever! I think because of the way he started with Wham!. But he made the most beautiful songs, and that voice is enchanting...
It is interesting that he seems to be underrated. But mostly in the states. In his homeland of UK he's considered one of the greatest artists of all time and sits up there with Lennon and McCartney for songwriting. The rest of Europe also adored him and he never lost his fan base. Think we're just so far removed we feel like he's super underrated because he's not played at all here. That's so sad, because his career span for decades and he had amazing music. Melissa Etheridge in an interview said once that it's difficult when an artists are so amazingly attractive that sometimes the music takes a back seat because you're just caught up with the image. She said George was stunningly beautiful and it was hard to overlook that and really listen to what he was singing, writing Etc. She of course wasn't one of them because she's a musician. I thought he was the full package. Mostly a brilliant gifted writer.
George Michael’s “Beatles long and winding road” best rendition in the world never to be surpassed. You and your subscribers MUST MUST MUST listen!!! The feeling that he engenders is heavenly !!! Forget about going to church and listening to a sermon about love when you can listen and Experience love by youtubing George Michael Amen! . Al
OMG I agree. He's delivery of a long and Winding Road was mind-blowing. What a beautiful beautiful interpretation. It actually puts the original out of your mind when you hear George's version.
I never liked that song until I heard George Michael sing it. He not only owned it but he felt every note he sang. He put his heart and soul into every performance no matter what he was singing. He was truly one of a kind.
Great Reaction. George Michael was great, I love his songs. You might like to check Jesus to a Child, Freedom 90, Faith, Spinning the Wheel, Going to a Town and more. Oh, and the Freddie Mercury's Tribute, Somebody to Love sung by George Michael.
I absolutely love George Michael's voice & his style too. Glad u appreciate his talent too. U were born in the wrong decade JBL... lol. U really need to react to "George Michael - Freedom (Official Music Video)". U will love it! 💜🎶✌
This music, the entire George Michael album "Faith" was the soundtrack of the late 80's and early 90's. Great songs, they still move me, especially this and "one more try". Life's ups and downs but for some reason this music brings it right back, that's what classic tunes George did back then. RIP George.
What talent, voice and songwriter, going way toooo soon. Many of our great talent and music has come from the United Kingdom through the years. This song is definitely a keeper. Also heard he was a great humanitarian. This song topped the Hot 100 for 3 weeks in February- March 1985.
It always amazes me how one can have such a beautiful voice like George’s!! 😻 So sad that my *2 favorite singers* are dead.. Rip Freddie Mercury and George Michael ♥️
His voice is fantastic in One More Try, slow, emotional ballad. Something more upbeat would be Faith, kind of song that gets stuck in your head and you'll find yourself singing it😁
This song was just a taste of what was coming from George. It brings back memories I've tried to forget. The words and music are perfect. The entire album "Faith" was spectacular. I'm not sure but I've heard he played every instrument on that album. A phenomenal talent, RIP George...
I think these songs will really touch your heart. HOW DO YOU KEEP THE MUSIC PLAYING & I'LL REMEMBER YOU. These are songs that are beautiful, sad. Because he said he wanted people to rememberd for his music and his integrity. That was his hope. I hope you"ll give these two a try., I believe you'll love them because they're so honest, loving, and pure. That's what George Michael was all about.
George Michael was amazing. One of gthe best voices out there. If you can, react to Don't let the Sun go down on me it's Him and Elton John. His cover of I can't make you love me is glorious too.
Number one love song of all time he's such a genius with voice of a angel every man can relate to this song we all messed up with that one girl we should have been with 💯
I miss George Michael I wish you was still here I wish you were still here singing this song singing his heart and soul out he was a big town I love the song you did without him and Elton doing don't let the sun go down now love Careless Whisper I love father figure all Arceus stuff with when he was an excellent thing or any song you did was good
This song takes me right back to when I was 5 years old. It was really popular and I remember it being played a lot on the radio. I love it when songs take you back in time. Rest in peace George Michael.
Oh so good to hear this again - so very beautiful: bitter-sweet. That would be an amazing rabbit hole....all his songs are different from eachother, and equally as powerful.
BEST PERFORMANCE HANDS DOWN. AND he sang spot on with Queens band WHILE ANSELMO WAS RIGHT THERE IN THE FRONT ROW HAVING BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH AIDS AS WELL.
If you’re going to do George Michael during the Wham! Years, you have to do “Everything She Wants” and the. “Freedom” when he basically had the courage to say that all of this was prefabricated crap and he had to be who he was and he hoped that we would still like him. It was an amazing time in music.
These amazing songs and great music will still be played after 100 years and more. I think music nowadays wont even last 5 years... ok, there are exceptions 😉
Hi, You need to listen to YOU HAVE BEEN LOVED. This is such a loving and heartfelt song. It's a sad song, but aw so beautiful. The message is also so tender and wonderful! listen to some also to his fun & happy, buggy down to the music There's just as many of these as there are ballads. I just think you will really appreciate this song. George seems to always hit you with what you need to hear and when you need to hear it. He really is that wonderful of an artist, and human being! ENJOY1
One of my favourite singers, I miss him! Please check out his live vocals, he was amazing. One More Try (live at The Princess Trust Concert) or Star People at MTV Unplugged. Thank you!
He wrote that when he was 17 years old. He is one of the top 100 best vocalists of all time. He also plays multiple instruments. He mix his own music. He also had a duet with Aretha Franklin from the 80s.
Oh Yes! I Sorely Miss 80's Music. Songs like this takes me back to better times in life & unity. George Michael was one of my crushes along with MJ. The 80's had Treasure chests of great music & iconic artists. You have A LOT of musical ground to cover Young Man! If you have the time, could you PLEASE React to Syretta & Billy Preston With You I'm Born Again?!! One of the greatest Love Songs IMO! Have A Great Day! ☺
George Michael - gone too soon. The man had a perfect voice - just so smooth and perfect pitch. So many good songs - funky sounding ones too, ballads. He could do it all. Check out his duet with Elton John singing Elton John's song "Don't let the Sun Go Down on Me." I actually prefer that one to the original. It'll give you goosebumps. :)
I love this song! It's one of the first songs I learned how to play on bass. George's voice was amazing! RIP, GM. Oh, and I agree....you need to check out George singing "Somebody to Love" with the surviving members of Queen for the Tribute to Freddie. Other than Freddie himself, George's voice is the only other I've heard that was even comparable to how fitting it was for that song. :)
