George did a sneaky switcharoo for some reason. When the Unplugged songs were finally released on audio, the original live performance was replaced with this. I have no idea why. Even though it was released after his death, I think it was his doing. In this version I miss his “if you don’t, if you don’t, if you don’t” at the end. That’s my favorite part.
This reaction you’re having is exactly the reason I love George so much. George could cover somebody else’s song and bring it to a level of emotion that I had never felt before. He truly delivered every word with that raw emotion and vulnerability. He really knew the way to tap into your soul with his own music or his version of somebody else’s. I adore this artist.
George Michael is one of the very very few elite who can sing a cover better than the original artist! This IS that example;)! Also one of the incredibly few who sound absolutely amazing singing live!
I had very little reaction to the original recording but when I saw and heard George's Unplugged version I was tearing up. His capacity to convey pure emotion is immeasurable.
I felt the same way the first time I heard George's version of this. He's such a soulful singer and you can tell he's really singing from a place of having experienced that emotion. Like when you watch the live video, he's really going through something when he's singing it. ☹️ It's beautiful and heartbreaking. Your reactions are wonderful and so genuine! Thanks for sharing your personal story too. 🙏
I would suggest reacting to George Michael's "Jesus to a Child" and his covers of "The Long and Winding Road" (Paul McCartney) and "Tonight" (Elton John).
I was thrown by my reaction to your reaction !! when your listening to George Michael slow songs you start of just listening then he grabs you and pulls you into the song with him! from that point he takes you down memory lane !! has done that to me many times too that is the magic of George's music !! you seem so very genuine SUBSCRIBED !!
George has a fabulous mellow voice, he just flows, would you react to a different corner by George.. you have a beautiful old skool soul Angela..thats pretty evident in your reactions....
A Different Corner is SO good. But if she reacts to it, it really should be the live version which is better (and even George said he preferred this version/arrangement). Here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VfPSNKb0Ahc.html
There are artists and songs that can touch your soul, George is a soul touching artist. Missing him loads he had so much to give but in his final hours he felt alone and give up his fight.
Jesus To A Child should be your next George Michael reaction. You will love it.

Georgios was really, really deep. I started listening to his music 28 years ago when I was 17... and I stuck to it...forever. Mostly because of voice, delivery to each cell in listener's body... songs takes you over...magic. And in years of work, I learned to sing... from his songs. It is not describable how deep you should go with emotions and technique to achieve the effect and what feelings and extacy the singer get in return. I highly suggest to very young singers start with singing GM music to get a deep idea about what the 100% singing, also qualitywise, means.
To me George was one of the greatest singers ever. Fabulous voice! If you want something more upbeat listen to I'm yr Man when he was in Wham. What a great loss, RIP George.
Have you checked out his live performance of this? Absolutely flawless. The man was gifted beyond compare. More people need to hear this version! He hits some unreal high notes towards the end and he doesn't ever break a sweat.
Facts. The first time I saw that performance I was absolutely floored. It literally took my breath away, and I do mean literally. I was so transfixed I actually forgot to breathe for a minute. Afterwards I sat in stunned silence for a good 10 minutes.
@@Marcus_1001 Its genuinely a shame that Teddy Swims and Bonnie Raitt are the well known versions, and George seems to have gone under the radar, especially that flawless live performance
@@seandoyle573 I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure any artist singing any song has ever touched me so deeply. When George sang this song on the MTV Live performance I felt every single word to my core.
@@seandoyle573 Exactly. I couldn't even begin to guess how many times I've listed to that song or watched the video, but I'm quite certain it's in excess of a hundred. And you know what? It still affects me as deeply as it did the very first time I heard it. A lot of very talented people can sing a song and while they may hit every note, it takes a truly remarkable singer to be able to *convey* what they are singing. You can tell when a performer is actually feeling what they are singing as opposed to just singing the words, and only the best singer can make you feel that same feeling. George did that with this song. I feel similarly about I Will Always Love you. Whitney Houston did a good job of belting that song, but it always felt hollow to me. The emotion that drips from every word when Dolly Parton sings it is what makes it so beautiful and relatable.
No one does a Cover Track like the late George Michael - he was The Master of Covers! A beautiful human being inside and out, he gave with his heart - while always singing from his soul...
George’s version is so Beautiful 🥰 Another great cover is “The Long and Winding Road” even better than the original!!! His voice .. WOW!! Love George ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your reaction just came up on My timeline and it brought tears to my eyes George was a special talent really special especially his amazing voice thank you 💜
His album "OLDER" is absolutely a beautiful masterpiece! And thats comin from a 70's and 80's classic rock n metal head... n yes i bought a George George Michaels CD. Id never ina trillion yrs thought id ever EVER own a cd of his... EVER! But i did n im so so glad.
To me George's version was more soul full and hart felt. This cover is also done by Teddy Swims and Tank are well done. Georges live cover of this song is beautifully done on "Live on the BBC". Another Live on the BBC song by George is "A Different Corner" so deep and beautiful such a great voice. RIP!!
This is one of my favorite karaoke songs…..the George Michael version. I was fortunate to have seen George Michael live in 2008 in San Jose, CA. He’s a treasure and such a gifted singer! I miss him dearly! 😢❤
Thank you for reacting to this!! If you get a chance watch the MTV Unplugged version of this (on your own time). It’s a bit different and the ending is definitely different. It’s nice to watch, too.
This is one of my all time fav performances of his. STUNNING! This is actually a live version of this on youtube. This one may be a live version as well, but not the same one i'm thinking of
I’ve watched several of your reactions to George Michael, and his voice gets you every time. I would highly recommend that you react to 2 songs of his - My mother had a brother and They won’t go when I go, arguably his best vocal performances IMO.
George Michael made best covers ever. Ever. Lovely reaction, thank you. I cry too when he does those sad love\loss\etc. songs, his own or covers. They just get to you like no other.
It's different because it's George singing. He was 1 in a billion talent. Impossible to keep a straight face. George and Freddie were such indescribable losses for the world of music. Gone waaaay too soon!
I love this song too I plan on having this song played at my funeral for my brothers because neither one has ever shown the love I always wanted from them 💔.
i feel u,been there done that. bonnie raitt's version is good, then there's teddy swims, his version is good too. but george's version just conveys more pain in the way he sings it like a haunting way
I love George Michael music very very much and its my first time hearing of this version, plus I now about the amazing Bonnie Raitt, but George Michael`s live unplugged version is even better, in my mind.
The reason it feels different is because it is coming from a man. A song with these emotions plays off of your female feelings for a man. It's the man's feelings with this song that is in touch with your feminine feelings.
This version is excellent and even this I find superior to Bonnie Raitt, but if you really want to hear the best version, please check out George doing this song live in 1996 on MTV Unplugged. That performance brings me to tears every time. Every. Single. Time. George Michael was so incredibly talented and I will miss him forever. You can watch the live 1996 performance here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QbWJO8RMg1A.html
Respect to Bonnie Raitt but... it's not just me but others have noted - some women- particularly Heartbreaking when a man sings this song...Late Great George Michael of course, but also Teddy Swims, Shane Filan and Matthew Hashimoto
