One of the only songs that can bring me to tears in the first 10 seconds. As years have gone by Older is George Michael’s masterpiece. Every song is great, deep and highly emotional. This album is like a secret place that you can go to get away from everything and find peace. That’s what art is and George was a genius for making great music.
Well said! Amazing album. Got me through both of my parents deaths. This man had a voice like an angel. Such a tragedy he is no longer physically with us, but thank God his legacy lives.
No doubt one of his best songs and he was super talented as well. I'm so lucky and glad to live the years of the 80s when Wham and many other bands and singers were popular. If I recall he wrote this song for his Brazilian boyfriend who died from Aids sometime in the 90s. Obviously, he was pretty much closeted as he was super famous, and the music industry and the general public opinion were not as open these years as it is today...Sad that he left too soon and sad he had to hide at first his sexuality for so long.
This song brings me to tears. His voice is like no others. He can project such vulnerability, passion and pain in every lyric through his voice. He really was a master at making one feel so emotional when you heard a heart wrenching ballad. WOW, WOW what a talent he was. It is so rare to have a musician that wrote, arranged, played the instruments and produced his own music. This song, I feel was his master piece. I will not ever love another musician like I love this man. He has accompanied me in the best and worst times of my life. I am beyond grateful for that!
He wrote this song for the one he loved and the one he lost because of disease. He wrote the text for it within one hour. He passed all his proceeds from this song to a child care organization. George Michael is one of those rare talents in this world who dare to make it better. R.I.P.

This is a real anthem to true love and pain. George was an outstanding interpreter and composer. That Christmas night was definitely a sad one for all. My most heartfelt respect to him!!!

I'm in shock. Why him? I will forever regard 2016 as the year earmarked for taking legendary musicians away from us. So in a way I shouldn't be shocked. But I can't help it. He was only 53. Seriously...who's left? I'm saddened beyond comprehension. George was my personal favorite. I known about his lifelong struggle with depression and later on with substances. In this regard, I felt I've drawn a parallel to him. I'm a musician in the same boat and a year older than George. Back in the early eighties, while he was becoming an international sensation, my band though not as popular, had it's regional success. I am truly grateful for it. But music is such a personal thing. I've learned so much about almost everything just listening to him. Upon it's release, I couldn't understand why "Older" wasn't as huge a success in the U.S. as it was in Europe. But I've learned and now know that the U.S. media will always favor young teen concert going club hopping audiences, so naturally an album as sophisticated as Older just wasn't designed to be "in the wheelhouse" with that crowd. But it just so happened to fit perfectly in mine. George, I will forever miss you and the wonderful sounds you've unselfishly blessed us with. For this I am forever grateful and will always be a fan of yours. I love you. Rest in peace my brother.

You'd be surprised how many of my generation go back to older music and love it more than what's out now. Nowadays trends in music change so fast, it seems, and celebrities nowadays don't write songs for the public anymore. They write songs to brag for themselves. At least the artists that are mainstream and get pushed on us all the time are. There are artists who make good music nowadays, but so many feel so artificial. A lot of my generation appreciate older music because there's more art to it. At least that's the opinion of me and several of my friends.
@ you are right indeed about the album Faith. I don't think that a lot of people know that the album Older spawn 6 hits singles that all charted in the top three. I know many other artists have released singles and have all gone into the top 10 but I believe he still holds the record for six singles that went into the top three. I know two of those singles Fast Love and Jesus to a Child hit number one.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I can't get enough of listening to his beautiful voice. His music soothes me, and touches me like no other music ever has.

I'm sorry she had to endure this. Thank God it is over for her, I hope she didn't had to suffer to much (for to long) only she, others in her situations and God must know how it is, how must of been the pain the suffering! And I also hope she hasn't forgot to make peace with God and ask for Him to forgive all of her sins before He took her Soul back into his kingdom! Other than that I advice you and people like you not to share publicly family afairs just keep them inside of the family and friends far way out of the public eye. In his songwriting, his vocal delivery, and even in the arrangements of his songs, George Michael simply gave himself to us. His songs are full of autobiography, love, lust and longing. Jesus to a Child is one of a number of George's songs which arrest me every time I hear them. Cowboys and Angels is one and, by way of contrast Star People is another. Jesus to a Child makes me stop everytime. I can't multitask while it plays. I can't stop it mid-flow. I just have to sit down, listen and feel the vulnerability and emotion of the song. George Michael was a greater person than was ever acknowledged in his lifetime. I love how this song is dedicated to his Brazilian lover Anselmo Feleppa so it had a slow samba beat and some Spanish guitar. Very dramatic, personal, and touching beyond just the lyrical level.
He doesn't sing like this any other single song - you can really hear the pain and the loss in voice - this is not him showing off his vocal skills - this is a genuine personal expression x loved the man - wish he knew when he was still alive how much we loved him - perhaps its time to start telling the people we love how much they mean to us x

My favorite of George Michael's many wonderful songs. Another devastating loss in 2016. The body never lasts but his talent will last forever. We have been able to enjoy the work of writers, painters and composers that lived in centuries past. I'm so grateful to be living in a time when great performers can also be immortalized for posterity. George Michael's voice will be available for new ears to appreciate long after we're all gone from this earth.
I remember when he passed, not long after Leonard Cohen and the same year as David Bowie and Prince, a childhood friend and schoolmate of mine said to me, "All the beautiful voices we grew up with are gone now." It hit me in the chest. It still does.

He only gave to 2 charities, the one to fight his mum's disease and he gave to couples that wanted to get pregnant that couldnt. George gave more to his mum's disease than the other. He was not catholic did not give to church but the one by his home, went a few times.

I discovered his music in my late teens and ever since I got hooked on it because of his passion, emotion, lyrics, everything. This album in particular helped me through very difficult times and I can't thank him enough for that.
