This is not a cover. George Michael wrote, produced, arranged, composed and played about 80% of instruments in all of his songs. This was his song. Just another example of he can sing almost any genre. Definitely deserved to be the first "white" artist to ever win an American Music Award for Favorite R&B Male AND Favorite R&B Album for his album, FAITH (where this song is in) in 1989. :)

Fast or slow. It doesn't matter. George Michael's voice is superb. He's a great writer too.

A lot of reactors are not aware that he wrote, arranged and produced all of his music. He wrote this all in his head and just filed it away in his memory for about 2 years and one day just walked into the studio and recorded it. The genius of George is he could write killer pop, R&B, jazz, standard, etc.. He had a beautiful tone and voice was like velvet.

This song is so underrated, but it shows his songwriting qualities, just like the song Cowboys & Angels.

George wrote this as an homage to the Harlem Renaissance jazz era

George voice was so unique and fluid. Songs From The Last Century album showed his range has a jazz vibe. GM really was underrated in many ways.

George Michael is ABSOLUTELY in a class of his own. Not to take away from any of his contemporaries at the time. Michael, Prince Madonna, etc... George always came out with something different than people were used to hearing from him. He wasn't stuck in one style of music. He will always be my FAVORITE ARTIST

One of George's best IMO. Story of a match made in Heaven facing outside opposition to the relationship, and because one of the party can't take the heat, they leave and try to make it with somebody more socially acceptable. But George knows that sooner or later they will come back to him because his devotion is such that he's prepared to wait. How sad and beautiful is that? Chills ...

You really should do George Michael's "One More Try". It will really show his singing chops.

Loved your reaction to this one. George Michael was so crazy talented. In an interview years back, he said when he recorded this, he did it all in one take. Usually most artists have to "build" a song and do multiple takes to get it right. Calling upon emotions from his past which are certainly felt in this piece. Prince was another musical genius who could do a full recording in one take of certain songs. Amazing people for sure.

Most of his songs were original, but he did put out an album of covers. The most beautiful version of "I Remember You" (from the 1940's) that I have ever heard - just his angelic voice along with a harp.

It's not a cover George wrote it, but others have coveted it, most notably Michael Buble.

Please play Mariah Carey's original video of "Anytime you Need A Friend"...Not the Live version because it doesn't show off her voice like the original and she takes you ALL the way to CHURCH!!! Never heard her "Bring it" like this before!!! Plus the Live leaves some of the song off.
