I remember Pickens in college. Incredibly talented but he had moments that were red flags in college. Physical talent NOT a question, mentally if he's not engaged early, good chance you lose him. If this continues he's gonna follow Chase Claypool out the door.
He's not scared to block, we saw him pancake guys off the line last year. He's just not "getting mines" so he doesn't care. It's a generational thing. He's young, dumb and wants to be rich and have all the glory without putting in the work. He's gotta go.
He also started to jog off to the sideline after the Julian Blackmon interception, instead of going for a tackle. Lol The play was still live and he was just jogging towards the sideline… pretty funny tbh.
hes become a AB jr but dosent put up AB stats, this happens to the steelrs a lot it seems but they seem to get the most out of these guys and that goes to the players head. Look at Bell AB Claypool juju
I was watching that on Redzone live, and I just had to go back and rewind it a few times to make sure it was him. I said to myself after, "Well, that was one hell of a game over, and his career in Pittsburgh jog off the field, and the ball was still live...😂
Remember, Tomlin benched an olinemen for making a comment that they should just kneel to end the game. How much do you want to bet he starts Pickens this weekend?? Tomlins a joke of a leader.
Can we get Hines Ward on the show to comment on what Pickens said…..😂 Pickens is basically saying “y’all don’t want to get me a QB who can get me the ball, I ain’t risking my career for anyone.”
If you’re worried about getting hurt you shouldn’t play because that’s exactly when you get hurt. Dude needs to watch some B. Aiyuk footage. It’s about the team. If he was on his block Warren could’ve bounced that and scored. If you’re not going to block for a teammate get tf off the field and sit with the cheerleaders. They don’t want to win.
Pickens is one of the best catchers of the football but I wouldn’t want his attitude on my Niners team. Deebo, Aiyuk and Jennings wouldn’t hesitate to to clean that defenders clock. Just look at the last Cardinals game where Jennings just lays out the defender as McCaffery runs by him to gain 10 more yards.
You got guys like Tyreek Hill and the wide outs on the 49ers all sprinting to make blocks and keep them, no excuse for someone like Pickens to give no effort
Every film room needs to have highlight reels of some of Aiyuk and Mccloud’s blocks this season to show how people need to be on plays where they’re not getting the ball.
eagles got Devonta smith (whose nickname is slim reaper) blocking on bubble screens every drive and even when he gets trucked he damn sure trying his hardest 😂
A good example of that win first mentality from guys is when the 49ers beat Green Bay in the nfc championship by running it down their throats and the receivers didn't throw a fit they were just excited to win
I thought that the Steelers improved over the offseason, but I was clearly wrong. It wasn't just Canada, and at this point I think every player in Pittsburgh not named Watt, Fitzpatrick, Warren, or Heyward need to understand they are playing for their job. Because this locker room isn't the Steelers and that means excising the cancer is going to be a top priority. Even if it means cutting a bunch of talent and a losing season, Steelers culture is worth protecting for the long term.
@@SpicyBoba7431 and how many one and dones does tomlin have in the playoffs? i'll save you the time; 6, and it would be 7 if vontaze burfict and pacman jones weren't undisciplined thugs. for someone who preaches, "the standard is the standard.", he falls woefully short. the standard isn't regular season success, it's competing for championships.
Bro thats what I was thinking I'd be like "check this out, you're not gonna injured sitting on the couch so I'll see you in 2024 and I'm gonna need those game checks back too, btw"
Steeler will eventually end up trading him because they don’t have a QB and Pickens is a WR that should be catching 1,000 yard seasons. Pickens is out of there as soon as his rookie contract expires.
@@geraldos9094I don’t think they get that much from him. He wants out, but he shot himself in the foot with that effort and commentary. What team with a good QB would want him in their team?
He has a horrible attitude when things aren’t going his way. Having an awful QB is crazy frustrating, sure, but if he isn’t fed in the first quarter, he quits the rest of the game
He NEEDS to be fed. It's the organization settling with winning seasons. Good players want to WIN. Pickens and watt are gone after their contracts are up. Don't blame them
Any Coach with any self respect would absolutely shred him for that , Tomlin is washed and needs to go . Absolutely ridiculous he did this let alone admitted to it like it was no big deal
@@mulliano420 agreed...Deebo didn't have more than 1-3 catches per game for like the first 8-9 weeks. yet he was still giving max effort in getting blocks done.
I love that pat defends players. I also love that pat has eyes just like the rest of us, whether we've played football or not, and then proceeds to show tape of exactly what we see.
Pat basically said GP needs to learn how to Lie to the Fans and the Media , Pat and the Sports Media has fork fed Over Hype about GP from day 1 all for Clicks and Likes , just like this mid week faux Drama there seeking Clicks and story lines aka Content to feed the Stupid who eat there chum. GP make 1 good catch they will all be back in the Saddle blowing smoke shows of the Catch over and Over on every Sports Media show and yes For Clicks . this is just more Mid week filler to feed the Stupid . just watch every sports media show there all in Lock Step fishing for clicks on the same Buzz content .
@@CaptainColossus-w6w Yeah, he's saying just keep your mouth shut and don't badmouth fans when you have bad tape. He's playing big brother to these kids. I like that lol. You're up pretty high on that horse.
this team is prob top 3 most embarrassing team to be a fan of right now cause of the WRs and QB play not my team but i can only think of a couple teams id be even more embarrassed to be fans of
I don’t mean to sound like a hater but aside from showing promise with jump balls last year, I haven’t seen much that’s overly impressed me with Pickens. But hope he goes off and has a very promising and successful career
I'm not excusing anything about him blatantly quitting on his team, when they're fighting for a playoff spot. But in total fairness, I don't think you can judge any of the pass catchers true ability with how bad their QB play, and play calling has been. That said, the Pittsburgh Steelers are the ultimate catch 22, farm team when it comes to diva WRs. They find them, they ball out, lose their minds and dip. It's basically as sure as the sun is rising and setting.
@@zackhurwitz9441 this is a very good point. I’d love to see him go off with a good QB. I’ve got a great friend who’s a huge Steelers fan so I never want that team to fail. Hopefully that franchise can get back on track and like I said before, hopefully Pickens has a great, healthy, and fruitful career.
@@Thummpur26 you and I think alike. One of my closest friends is a Steelers fan, and it pains me to see him this way. One of the best football experiences I've ever had was in Pittsburgh.
Seems like a culture issue.. Chase Claypool has been accused of this to & they all came from that Pittsburgh tree! Now he's with Miami blocking his ass off playing special teams or doing whatever he can.. You are who you surround yourself with.. If your around a bunch of WR's who complain about blocking & giving extra effort then it trickles down but if your around WR's who pride themselves on blocking, running routes & finishing plays that bleeds out as well.. Just a culture thing!
How do they keep drafting these talented, low-effort drama queen receivers?! I was really hopeful on Pickens, but damn these younger receivers dont apply themselves.
The issue is that Pittsburgh has always had veteran WRs that showed the rookies the steeler way. That doesn’t exist anymore. The last person who was suppose to pass the torch and lead was AB. Issue was, AB was disgruntled for being “bullied” and treated like a Undrafted guy to turning into a superstar. He had something to prove, which was good and bad. Pittsburgh needs to start over. Josh Allen should’ve been the successor to Big Ben.
A whole generation, eh? Stop it. Plenty of people doing things how they should. This is the issue. Blaming an entire population for a thing one person does and conflate them. Stop with that crap.
If you’re up by 30 then I understand not wanting to risk an injury for “no reason” And if it’s a 340lb d lineman running at you with a full head of steam I understand getting out of the way or trying to sidestep and shove from an angle, but with a guy of similar size and no momentum there’s no excuse to not at least try to block
Here is what Culture means to the in regards to WR blocking. Hines Ward once broke the jaw of a LB while blocking on a run play. Hines Ward, more than once, knocked Ed Reed out of games while blocking on run plays.
Just another example why the NFL has gotten so much worse over the years, some of these guys are just so soft. I promise you there’s someone who’s ready to take there place.
@@zackhurwitz9441 You mentioned him man our rookie tackle Broderick has been great this season. He’s a true o-lineman because despite coming from Georgia just like GP and being a part of our struggling offense, I’ve never heard him complain even though he’s probably the best player on the line lol
am a texan fan and we were blasting the coaching staff for putting Tank to block in the goaline situation. A play where he personally help with the push to allow the touchdown but eventually led to his injury. One of the little things he been doing all year. and pitsburg has a receiver bigger than him not even pretending to block against a smaller guy in a non crowded area. I prefer my tank player to the pitts. He may had gotten hurt but he all heart.
I was at the game and I saw a lot of bs from the players and refs that really made me question whether or not everyone was on the colts bandwagon. Including my Steelers. Steelers seem like the team that likes to play with it’s food so much so that it becomes the food. It’s weird. They were in prime position to eat all game and kept blowing it
Not surprised. That’s why he didn’t go in the 1st round. In college a Tennessee player was on Georgia’s sidelines and got hurt slow getting up. Pickens walked over and sprayed a bottle of water on him. 15 yard penalty. Dudes talent is not worth the headache.
He say he don't wanna get hurt...so what the hell are you playing football for? I'm from New Zealand and started watching NFL a few years back and we play rugby. Dudes who don't wanna get hurt don't play. It's simple. If you're playing, you know that you're gonna get hurt.
Dell is 5’10 165 lbs and was blocking on the interior against linebackers, Pickens is 6’3 200lbs blocking a corner on the edge 💀 not the same at all and f*cking CRAZY using Dell as a scapegoat
It's worse than just him not blocking. He didn't even HAVE to block. If he had simply continued to run to the outside towards the back of the end zone, Jones HAS to stay with him and probably doesn't even see the run happening. Would have taken the defender right out of the play. But when he pulls up and does nothing after that half-hearted push, it give Jones the freedom to look inside, see the run developing, and get involved.
One of the reasons the Detroit Lions are so great. Look at Jamo Williams against the Chargers running 50 yards to level a crucial block for D Mont to score a TD
Being a good blocker has nothing to do with effort. The whole point is he don’t give a damn about block or sacrificing for his teammate. And the NFL is a team, where everyone on the field is needed.
Tomlin has only been consistent in two areas. 1. Maintaining a 0.500 win record. 2. Finding the biggest attitudes in the NFL to play WR and disrupt our team. Super Bowl teams cut players like Pickens.
The Steelers Have so many plays stopped near or at the line of scrimmage, Pickens had gave up the block assuming the play was over... ...just that simple. They don't expect a big play to happen
I am a woman who have been watching football last couple of years and I love it . I don’t know a lot but when I watched this I wondered why he was just standing there doing nothing.
Pickens should have taken a page from the Hines Ward playbook, and clipped the DB 10 minutes after the play was over, blowing out both knees and ending his career.
The players coach experiment needs to end in Pittsburgh! Steeler Yinzers know like a toxic relationship it needs to end. We need a hard ass to manage these millionaire employees. Play to the Steeler Standard or be benched or traded. PERIOD!
A lot of players on the steelers are doing things like this. At some point to have to look at the coaching staff and ask why they aren't holding these players accountable
Take a look at winning teams and you can see the attitude of their players is fight to the whistle. For example, in every run play the 49ers execute, everyone is making a block. EVERYONE. From Aiyuk, to Deebo. Pickens attitude is inexcusable.
