George Roberts- 'Makin' Whoopee' Bass Trombone Transcription

It is done! Now what I have written is an interpretation of what is played. The melody is played pretty freely by George Roberts so it is hard to give an exact rhythmic idea but I think this is a good approximation.
I hope to upload a new transcription each Tuesday so make sure to subscribe to see a new tune each week. One more transcriptions to go from this album!

Hello Kit, I think the written notation after 2:27 is incorrect for two bars after the long low F bar, the first note on the next bar should start with another low F ? I think 😱 and hope I'm right. Thanks, Al

Hi Al, you are correct! I have accidentally written out the trumpet harmony. I think it should read F Ab F Ab G Gb F. Then maybe E C D D# but I might need to listen and play a bit more to work it out. Great pickup Al!

At the very end, how does he play that nice clean low B natural on a single rotor bass bone?

Tuned the f attachment down a step, and played accordingly.

@@danatirrell2457 I play my 72H pulled to E quite a bit. In the last several measures I don’t think there is enough time anywhere to pull to E, and I can’t imagine him playing the entire song pulled to E. Could he be false toning the B?

@@danhoenigman2757 I know a guy who always plays tuned to E. Since the B is so pure, I don’t think he is lipping down. I play a 50B so I don’t have that problem. I can easily lip it down though. Just not that clean.

In bar 30 the two eighth note E's should be E-flats.

@@KitMillais The sixteenth note "5-uplet" in bar 5 should be written like the last half of bar 8 eighth triplets.

@@moravian7 I would disagree on that one. The first version in bar 5 is a lot more rushed than in bar 8. In the original written sheet music they were probably both the same but this transcription is aiming to be a representation of what George plays.
