@@edgardomartin8299 She is not ‘The Queen of England,’ she is the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - and you shall address her as such!
You need to check out Britain's Bloodiest Dynasty on RU-vid, the interviewer not only knows GRRM's books, he knows what they are based on tremendously well!
It better be a good interview, Martin charges no less than $100k for appearance fees here’s the link to his agent and fees www.speakerbookingagency.com/talent/george-rr-martin/?video
GRR Martin "you see, I made A song of ice and fire to deconstruct classical epic fantasy tropes and put them on a realistic setting" also Martin "see how cute there Dunk and Egg's adventures are"
I recently *nailed* my first short-story deal and am currently working on 5 different novels, 1 of which I accidentally managed to get Hundreds of people waiting for (which happens to be the longest series 😭) simply by posting a snippet. I often tell my small, maybe 5k-6k max following that I'm okay because I still write faster than George R.R. Martin. I don't know if this confirms or discourages that philosophy 🤣😭🤣😭
He needs to write all his thoughts down in a synopsis. God forbid he passes away do to bad health,or virus. Or old age. 9 books left of dunk and egg. 2 of game of thrones main story. ... 11 books one of which 75 percent done. Doesn't seem possible to me. Considering how long each book takes. He barely has a career of 11 solid books through 40 plus years of writing. :( at least if he writes down a structured synopsis, his world can continue through trusted writers who know his content. I hope he does it and doesn't contain his genius with him
But the 9 dunk and egg books would be equal to one asoiaf books (9x100 pages vs twow and ados that both will be at least 1000 pages). So it would be 3 that way. Add in fire amd blood part 2 you have roughly 4000 pages to write. Assuming he’s got approx 200 pages in twow to go, and some chapters already for ados (~100 pages) and like 200 pages of part 2 of fire and blood at the point he realised he needed to split it, he’s already written 1100/4000. Now dunk and egg are much easier for him to write because they are short stories and less complex so 900 of those pages left are fairly easy. TWOW he’s focusing on now and will be done sometime soon no matter how pessimistic people are. Ados will be easier than twow as twow had to both finish old plot lines and establish the links to the ending. Ados will have a much stronger roadmap. Finally, fire and blood part 2 I don’t care about as much and again, due to the more vague storytelling, it is easier and therefore faster for grrm to write. So what is my conclusion? As soon as we get TWOW a domino effect will happen where dunk and egg will come out quickly, then maybe when grrm is 78-80 we get ados. That leaves him with up to 10 years to finish dunk and egg and fire and blood, which he could release more than 1 book per year. Now I could be completely wrong, and he could die at 75, but as long as he lives to 80 I think we finish asoiaf
I have not read his books and I refuse to until books 6 and 7 of the GOT series is completed. I hate what the show did to the characters and while I blame D and D, if the book series was completed, I think things would have gone differently.
At this point, its safe to say that poor old GRRM has lost control of his garden. he has contradicted himself many times, especially when it comes to his dragons. Just finish the FUCKING series already.
I honestly don't care about his political rant. I mean he's not wrong. Our country is a mess and so divided and toxic. No thanks to a clearly sketchy ex president who encouraged violence and hate. If you seriously think otherwise, then there's truly no hope for America.
Americans gleefully allowing billionaires to run your country and pretending it matters what political opinion yhe candidate has. Theyre rich, they dont care about you. Biden and trump both.
@Spellcaster86 Fair warning: taking a break from LoTR to read ASOIAF is like taking a break in a marathon to go climb a mountain. Both are great, enjoy.
@Spellcaster86 The first time I read the books, I flew through them really quickly, and then I found the ASOIAF Reddit, which made me realizr how much detail and subtlety I had missed. The language is easy/minimalist, and the plot is a page turner, but it really improves the experience to take it slow and remember all the minor characters and the details. Some of those details become important to understanding the characters and the story at a deeper level. Have fun...
Dunk and Egg series are all the joy of GRRM's flowing narration and crystal clear description with much less depression from loosing one of your favorite characters.
Dunk, Egg, Daeron, Young Maester Aemon, Baelor, Maekar, Bloodraven, Shiera Seastar, Rohanne Webber, Tanselle Too Tall. This show is going to be so good
Lyonel Boratheon!!! the laughing storm, I agree 100% it already looks promising from the teaser. I’m curious to see how they depict that dream sequence of Dunk’s about the dead horse in the desert… I won’t say anymore because of spoilers.
I wish people werent so hard on George for not finishing his story's fast enough. You can hear by the way he speaks he has an insane amount of passion for his work. I dont think he would rush something out because ultimately i would disappoint him even more than it would disappoint his readers. I hope George gets to finish everything he wanted to write in this lifetime but if not ill still cherish the stories he did give us.
That's true... But 13 years is still 13 years. People who weren't born yet when the the last book left us on a cliffhanger are now starting high school.
It's the failed promised deadlines and self distraction with needless side projects that upset fans, if in 2012 he said you'll be waiting at least 12 years for the next one nevermind the ending, we have accepted that, he was adamant he'd be finished before the show caught up........
What do you mean "if he doesn't finish"? He's obese and in his 70s, with an inefficient work ethic and lethargic writing style. He definitely won't finish the main series let alone "all the stories he wants to tell". It's unfortunate but also reality
It’s been 13 years bro 💀 we’ve given him time to finish the book, but how much time can you reasonably give someone to procrastinate their project? This is his *job*. If my boss said he needed a report in a month, and I still didn’t have it done in a year, I’d be fired.
if he does indeed pass before he can finish his vision I think the actors who portrayed some of these characters should read everything that he wrote and try to channel the characters they played and figure out how he may have wanted to tie up certain character arcs and the overall story. I feel like them along with his editors would be the the only ones with enough in depth knowledge of the world he created.
Dumbest thing i ever read, characters in show are not even close to book characters. Tv show was bad "fan" fiction and i hope that is the end of butchering of ASOIAF world.
@@ufiCz Damn my bad elitist. I know some character and story arcs are different in the show compared to the books but the show was still done with George's blessing. I was just brainstorming and figured The editors and actors who portrayed his characters may have the best chance at putting together something good if he were to not finish his story.
@@Timquan. He sold ASOIAF to HBO, because D&D agreed to do TRUE adaptation of his books and D&D had only right to make that show, because GRRM trusted them, that they are true fans and they really want to do TRUE adaptations of his books. HBO couldn't even change showrunners. So yes, they had his blessing at start, but they started to make changes and fu** him over, so he stoped working on that show. Iam sure GRRM will pick some good writer to fill his gaps on his story if anything bad happens to him. Not D&D who betreyed him or ACTORS. You must understand that reading lines is something completely different then writing them. If actors play smart written character doesn't mean he is smart as author who wrote that character and that he actualy understand character he played. And even if they were able to "mimic" his writing of those characters, how could they finish his story if half of important characters and plot points are completely cut out ? Do you think every actor read +-5000 pages of GRRM books ? It's not about some elitism it's about the truth.
i legit wish GRRM would just drop winds of winter and focus on writing and entire new book of new Dunk and Egg tales. i already don't care for the main series. Its been so long since i read ADWD. but there is something about the short and whimsical DAET that made me read the three released short stories like half a dozen times by now.
When GRRM dies, hundreds will die with him. Their adventures untold, their conquest unhearlded, their songs silent, and so be it. I am glad we are here to witness his genius in the present.
HEARD HEARD IT HERE I NTHIS COMMENT FIRST FOLKS I WANT HENRY CAVILL TO PLAY DUNK. HE'S GOT THE QUALIFICATIONS AN HE HAS THE RIGHT LOOK THAT MATCHES GET ON IT FELLOW FANS
I was the type of fan who was only focused on the main series, then I started Knight of the Seven Kingdoms last monday and it's a massive page turner, I love it. I'm about to finish it, by the way, four days later.
oliver the picture clearly showing the writer in a state of deep engagement in a conversation (leaning forward and his hand gestures) clearly showing us that our writer is describing something of some sort of importance which we can relate to in the video topic line, hence it’ll intrigue us into clicking just to listen to what he’s talking about in the picture. A nice visual trick to lure viewers in.
When I was given the gr0ahic novel hedge knight as a middle schooler. Ot was my first non super hero graphic novel and to this day it's one of my all time favorites
I love the title "Dunk and Egg" because it sounds like a childhood story and sound more wholesome compared to everything else that goes around Game of Thrones.
guys, im looking for some new fantasy worlds to explore, I love grimdark and ive read GoT, First law, what do you think about Wheel of time is it worth a look? do you know any good grimdark fantasy? (i know about warhammer )
I recommend Prince Of Thorns. But there's really only one reason to read it and that's the protagonist. Mark Lawrence for that series focused solely on putting you in the head of a sociopathic little shit. As a result, the world isn't too great, but Jorg (the protagonist) is entertaining as fuck. Though the first book has pacing issues, the other two books are a great fucking time through and through.
