The Constanzas together is one of the best things that ever happened to television. Every bit it's a classic. I love how Jerry Stiller ties his belt after saying "we have to show these people some taste!"
The Costanzas are the single most believable family in television. You often wonder how the children ended up the way they are, given their parents in most shows/movies. But with the Costanzas, the way George is makes perfect sense!
when frank says "somethings missing" and Susan's mother makes the most snarkies comment "somethings missing alright" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 i always laugh at this scene
It’s insanely intuitive writing the way Susan and George’s parents have nearly identical personalities and relationships but they handle their aggression completely differently. Susan’s parents are clearly passive aggressive. The costanzas have never been passive about anything in their entire lives.
Fun fact: It you take the first letter from all of their names you get: JESAJH which is the pre-Israeli word for God, that later became JESAJA. Since they are all jews - this is a sign God exists (if you were in doubt).
It makes you wonder what they are like at home by themselves. Do they behave the way they did at the dinner party, or would they shed their passive aggressiveness and go all-out yell mode a la the Costanzas? I guess we'll never know.
@@lonelyheroine I see you working, but face it, there’s no out-yelling the Costanza’s. You know it, I know it, the Ross’s damn sure know it. Passive-agressive is their brand.
I have to agree with Frank on this one. They never bothered to serve it. This is a marble rye from Schnitzers not a $2 tray of cupcakes from the supermarket. They don’t grow on trees like fur coats
The thing I've always found hilarious about this scene is how someone can't see their own character traits until they see someone else doing the same thing, George would have 100% taken the bread back if he brought it and they didn't serve it, but since his Father did it, he thinks its insane that he would do that. Best Show Ever.
@@2EKgn16that’s opposite for me, because The Rosses are just plain rude and bougie, thinking they are better than everybody else and I warmed up to The Costanzas and they are more funny than The Rosses, More Funny I tell ya!
What's even funnier than this, are the sequence of 'events' that happen when George attempts to secretly return the marble rye. My favorite being when Kramer feeds Rusty the horse Beef-A-Reeno, which causes the horse to have toxic gas.
I love how George’s father nearly pops a vein in his forehead about Susan’s parents not serving the marble rye: “It’s deliberate, Deliberate I tell yaa!!”
I can listen to the Costanza's argue and crack up every the time. They had perfect chemistry and the fights they get in are so true for an old married couple.
"NO, we have to go to Schnitzer's! I'll show these people something about taste!!!" The rare instances when I feel sorry for George, always seem to involve his interactions with his parents!
Wish we would’ve seen more of Mrs. Ross in the series. She was hilarious and a very underrated character. The actress who portrayed her (Grace Zabeiskie) is very talented.
This is special too me. My great aunt and my grandfather use to argue over everything. Just like the Costanza except they were brother and sister. Hilarious!
The best part about this is how well George gets along with Susans parents. Despite his feelings about fear of the marriage, it goes to show you how normal George could've turned out.
He had no choice!! George had to hide his real psychotic personality to make the Ross's think that they didn't invite "The three stooges" for dinner 🤣🤣. What an episode this was! Brilliant writing and perfect timing from all the actors. Jerry Stiller "took the cake" in this episode.... well, it was bread; but you get what I am saying 😂😂
I love how Estelle finally agrees with him and it's on something crazy 🤣 I agree with the cake thing. If you're going to be giving coffee at night, you would think some type of dessert would also be served. Tres leches or somethin
I have always thought that "We're sitting there....like IDIOTS without a piece of cake" was one of the funniest things she ever said. Every time I see it, I am dying. 🤣
Mr Constanza is actually right about the Cornish game hen - it's a misnomer, it actually is a chicken not a game bird. Guess he showed them that Frank Constanza knows something about TASTE.
Maybe I’m getting old or something but I actually agree with the Costanzas. Who serves coffee and don’t serve any cake or anything, and furthermore... if they didn’t put out the bread they brought, why leave it there when you’ve seen the kind of people Susan’s parents are. You know the bread is gonna end up in the garbage. So frank did the right thing lol
These classic actors are amazing. The Seinfelds, the Constanzas, the Barones on everybody loves Raymond, etc. you can tell they’re just having fun and loving doing this into their twilight years!
If I was Frank, I would hate Rosses too, they think they’re better than everybody else, they are bougie, bougie, I tell ya!, here’s what i know, if you don’t serve us cake then I’ll take back the marble rye
'Seinfeld' could have had a dozen spinoffs and this could be the pilot for one. George and Susan get married instead of offing her..... the clash of the in-laws alone would absolutely kill. this is hysterical.
The combination of the ross' cold WASPy rage/reserve and the costanzas over the top ethnic rage is hilarious. This was never going to go well. "Somethings missing alright". So funny.
The crazy thing is that George and his parents are not supposed to be Jewish - but if like Larry David you grew up in a Jewish home in the 1950's and early 1960's you know that The Constanza's could have easily been named the Goldfarb's --
It's Seinfeld-style humor. The actors who played George and his parents were Jewish in real life. Watching them portray an Italian family is hilarious.
