I am not a native Texan but I live here now. I was born in Tennessee though and have always felt a kinship with the state because of the Alamo sacrifices and the heroism it embodies. I have to say that hearing this speech helps me understand a lot about the character of Texans and the unique love they have for their families and their great state. Being a lifelong fan of country music I do understand George Strait's place in the history of such a rich music. It also says a lot about Texas that he was chosen for this honor. Congratulations to George and to the proud people of Texas for raising up such a fine American.
