I've been a Strait fan since the 80s and have loved this song from it was released. I know it back and forth. Can't imagine what it sounds like to someone for the first time. It's coming up on 40 years since it was released.
This has always been one of my favorite George Strait songs. And it was years before it struck me that there is no chorus. I don't think I've heard a song like that before or since. Great reaction. Loved ir!
George is the king of country. Something you should know though. Country has an underground scene. There are 2 scenes. The Nashville scene which is what you here on the radio. Then, there's the Austin scene, kinda started by Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and others. It's less radio friendly, and can be darker and less radio friendly. You got Corpus Cristi Bay and Gringo Honeymoon by Robert Earl Keene. Loving County or My Hometown by Charlie Robison. Having Fun All Wrong or A Pirate Looks at 40 or Storybook by Roger Creager. Others, cross Canadian ragweed, whiskey Myers, Radney Foster, Pat Green, and others. It's a whole world of amazing country music. Most songs written by the artists and great musicianship.
King George!! You should just find the list of his top 60 songs and go down them 1 by 1. I promise you won't be disappointed in any of them. I just saw him in concert a couple of weeks ago as an early anniversary present to my husband because George Strait sings our song.
"Are you waiting for someone to meet you here? Well, that makes two of us glad you came." Funny you picked these lyrics to talk about. I like them because his meaning is ambiguous and she probably gets it. There is chemistry.
All George’s songs are COUNTRY songs! He is real, pure, the Legend. Click on any songs and it’s phenomenal! Love, love love the positive reaction and the respect George deserves. 62 #1 hits does not include his catalog that did not hit #1...let that soak in.
Great reaction. This is a great song and yes, it's about the story. He is the Troubadour. There isn't a bad song in his catalog. He's so simple and perfect. King George indeed.
This is a panty dropper. When this song come on in the dancehall, everyone hits the floor. The music video goes very well with the song. George is definitely incredibly smooth. Please react to his Hit You look so good in love.
Great reaction mate. Love this song! George Strait really is the king of country. So many great songs to listen too from him, hope you can react to 'I Saw God Today' (I believe it won country song of the year), or something like 'Kicked Out Of Country' (Basically 'Murder On Music Row' part two about how country music has changed such as radios not playing pure country songs.) Thanks mate, have a great day!
There's a reason he is called the king of country music and The Chair is a good example of why. I could recommend a couple dozen of George Strait songs easily, but I will limit to 5 suggestions. Most of these are recommended for the storytelling but they certainly have a good traditional country sound to them as well. The Best Day Ocean Front Property Love Without End, Amen Check Yes or No Carrying Your Love With Me If you are looking to expand to other artists, a great one that is another modern legend of country is Alan Jackson.
I love this song. Just wanted to add that this is a great song to dance to. This was the type of song that as soon as the music started, everyone rushed to the dance floor.
Usually not my genre of choice but I love George Strait. My favorite song by him is The Cowboy Rides Away. Check it out! And by the way, I love your shirt!
Yeah, that was cool, I liked the song and lyrics. I thought the melody was nice and I liked his phrasing of the lyrics. I also thought the two way conversation but only hearing one person response was a cool as well. Good choice.
As you’re sitting in your chair, take your light and spin it slightly towards the camera. Little less light on the background with make it look more cinematic, it’ll also cast those deeper shadows on your face. Currently the light is facing you a little too much.
I like crossover country. Anne Murray. Or country efforts from unlikely sources. Sting "I'm So Happy, I Can't Stop Crying" & "Fill 'Er Up". Bands like The Eagles or Fleetwood Mac or The Bee Gees who are capable of writing the best country songs. Check out The Thorns "I Told You" A great countryesque song.
Unfortunate title. He really should have called it "MY chair". (Yes, this makes no sense...I care more for the title than the lyrics, I guess.) As for the music... *yawn*
When you get older you might understand it a little better If you're old enough to go to a bar this is a classic just gigantic pickup line one after another with a great little tidy upright at the end.
